The 180 motor and Li-ion combined have banished the turbo lag, and, coupled with the huge improvement in the steering you achieved with a little help from WPL , turned a slightly unsatisfying model into a really appealing scale Jeep. Great work!
Thank you.... it wasn't easy to show the lag on the video, but it was quite apparent while driving it. Now it's got much more control...and a bit more power!
Thank you so much, I just got into rc and I'm a teen I dont have much money im think on what would be an improvement without costing too much but tyms for this amazing video pls continue making more videos on this specific model tysm again
Great full review on what you've done so far, you are Loving these WLP toys and am loving your videos on them to mate , it's good to see what you can to to improve them, great Job Matey 👍😁👍
Hey mate. I really like this Video and i Love the on Board Camera. Please do more like that. And also thank you for that advice with the cables, so i dont have to learn this lesson by myself 😬😬😬
Having built stock Tamiya and Heng Long for years, this little jeep is great. Just need to change the motor to a 180. Any recommendations which one and where please?
The yellow headlights and no red lights make it look so much better. I never remember during my Military time any vehicle with red lights on the front, so not sure what they were going for there.
How much is the upgrade kit? Hopefully not much considering that you can get a brushed ESC, cheap hobby grade servo, and receiver for about $15. Granted, you would maybe need your own Transmitter to match. Not sure if you can rebind JJRC or WPL transmitters.
What type lights did you use for the front? I have a few military rc's and I hate the bright white they come with so I want a more real natural halogen look for headlights. Thank you.
Looking at getting one of these myself. It's sold by CIS but seems to be the same model. What I am wondering, is if adding some weights to it, would help with the spring preloading and ease up some of the bouncing. Maybe a video trying that out?
@@TomleyRC Thanks. Just made video about that modification, will be up in few hours. Thank you anyway. I watched MOSFETS and main receiver/MCU - everything can go up to 9.6V. Actually, there is 3.3V stabilizer for receiver and MCU (the same package). Just that servo is bad, slow... and motor as well - even at 7.4V has no much more power.
This is awesome! I'd like to do this upgrade with mine, some of the links you have shared don't have the items anymore... can you suggest or sell some parts to me? Thank you.
Please link the 180 motor. I bought two motors already and both not fit ( gears not fit to gear box - stock has 10 tooth but 180 has 12 and motor gear a little bigger size... Thanks...
I just use stock gears for 180 motor - and now ok. Drives like good scale trail truck - not crawler but still much better then with stock 130... Try...
Рессоры надо сделать мягче, поставить широкие утяжелённые колёса, стёкла воткнуть, дугу безопасности, посадить водителя, ну так по мелочи, подкрасить, номера повешать. Тогда будет гораздо круче.
Hi, what's the length between axles or wheel centres? I have a ftx outback2 but loathe the lexan body and want a jeep, so wondering if one of these will sit on chassis. Cheers, Jo x
Btw. I bought the kit version (coz I love assembling things and I hate RC with no proportional steering). Will that controller kit enough to make the kit work?
@@TomleyRC я хотел сказать, который выход на приемнике куда подключать! Который руль, который двигатель, где питание, свет и выключатель)) need help to know where and what plug goes where
The motor itself is a straight swap (you just need to give the little lugs on the inside of the gearbox a rub down as it's a tight fit...oh...and swap the pinion if you have a 180 without one fitted. Apparently it's always good to have a Cap on the terminals....but I rarely put them on.
Who's going to be printing up some nicer wheels? Would look good with a set of wheels! Aftermarket softtop, a few other pieces would make it an amazing scale vehicle.
if you've been watching Gabriel Silvaz, the green WPL rims and the RTR tires.... he soaked the tires (bagged) in fingernail polish remover about 1/2 hour, followed by 6 hours wet bagged in WD-40. they swelled up to be a little over 3/16" taller diameter, and almost 1/8" wider, and a lot softer too. its the "protein enriched" fingernail polish remover, NOT the pure acetone. it might work out nice for this Jeep model with softer rubber and taller sidewalls for more traction, less bouncing around.
Scale tips: the shovel and ax are both supposed to be mounted on the driver side and the front wheels are too far back. On the 1:1 Jeep, the first item out front is the bumper THEN the wheels, then the grille and fenders. Otherwise the Jeep looks buck toothed and dorky.
Definitely an improvement. As with all mods though is the change in performance of the control system financially viable? Functionally it definitely is.
$15 for the kit...$5 for a servo...$5 for the motor, I'd say if you haven't got all the stuff already, you'll probably be ok with the stock RTR. I had all the stuff...so for me it's an easy choice.
