- Yet another wonderful sea kayak trip in Swedish archipelagos.
This time we kayaked S:t Anna and Gryts archipelagos on the Baltic coast east to south_east of Norrköping (a couple hours south of Stockholm). In total 105 km (66 miles) in 4.5 days so in average 23,4km (15 miles) per day.
Good weather, no mosquitos, good food, beautiful islands, wind, waves, and good surf, what more can you ask for? Oh yes one thing and that was I wished I had not forgotten to bring my newly purchased GoPro so I could document our nice surf going north.
I brought all the GoPro accessories and mounts but not the actual camera, what a bummer!

Information in Swedish..
23,4km/dag. Översiktskartor finns sist i filmen.
Lovely and very relaxing to watch. Tack sa mycket.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it! If you want to see another relaxing (and long) video from our west coast I can recommend ua-cam.com/video/AAos7HPdyKg/v-deo.html which I think is probably my best video.
great kayak production! I will move to Tjörn and will kayak around west Sweden in May 2015. I can't wait.
Alright, this is an early version (?) of your adventures on film, so it represents some nice areas of kayaking. Inter-islands at their best and fairly calm waters where almost anyone can paddle. This is such world class adventure! Are there tour companies that guide in these areas? Just curious. Do they map out routes, or are there books that help guide individuals to launch sites, campsites and/or hostels to stay overnight? Are some of the shoreside cabins places a person can rent for the night? Are overnight cabins booked real far in advance? Is the area all regulated like a national park or reserve area? What are some of the books about kayaking Sweden? Answer any you can if you have time. Thank you Mats! 🛶 🌊
Yes, this is an oldie from back when I did not have a GoPro. The year after I got my first GoPro 3. Revisiting this video I think I should have been more selective and reduced the number of photos and also show each photo a little longer. Likewise should I have used english in the intro.
About the St Anna & Misterhult archipelagos: I honestly don’t know if there are any guided tours in this area. I am sure there is someplace you can rent kayaks and perhaps get some tips as well. Generally speaking there are very few prepared campsites in our archipelagos and kayakers are no-impact wild campers. You may for instance not make a fire on cliffs since the heating of the rock followed by the cooling off process cracks the rock and leaves ugly scars for centuries ahead. Likewise do most campers camp on the cliffs using self-supporting tents to not wear down the vegetation. There is no accommodation in these archipelagos as far as I am aware of. These archipelagos are pretty shallow and most of the houses are on mainland or the innermost islands. There may be cabins that are for rent like for doing kayak day excursions and these can be found on the web on sites like AirBnB . I imagine that cabins are harder to get hold of in peak summer period (july-mid august) when most swedes have vacation. These archipelagos include several nature-reserves where specials rules apply like no fires, camp max 2 nights in same spot, no drones allowed, etc. Additional bird/seal sanctuaries that are off limits certain periods when they nest/have their pups. But it is always possible to avoid the reserves and go around at least when weather permits.
In comparison, Stockholm Archipelago has several hostels, a handful of kayak rental places and guided tours.
There are several books about kayaking in Sweden but I think they are all in Swedish.
