  • My new favorite knife, the CRKT Williams HZ6, is made from SK5 steel, has a blade length of 6.5" and has a tip literally as sharp as a needle.
Not for brushwork, this has one purpose. COMBAT!

Others have said the same but guards on knives are really just to keep your hand slipping. The grip on this knife is so good that it is hard to describe. It literally almost bites into your hand to hang on.

I carried a CRKT clip folder. The laws are 3" blade. If I measure the cutting edge it's legal, some sites say the steel is measured to the handle's top, which makes it illegal. I see many sites showing unreasonable, angry, petty cops and I don't wish to test cop authority. I now carry a 1 3/8" blade, swiss army folder on my keychain. Paranoia? Very much so, but I use that swiss army scissors every damn day.

Has the same properties, I'll admit that the handle on that HZ6 is much more handleable, but the sweeping edge on the clever girl with the thinner handle is just perfect for me personally because I do a fair bit of reverse cuts like a pairing knife. It's my favorite EDC at the moment but that's just because it's more practical than most of my other fixed blades. I tend to like em big :) my bowie is a little cumbersome at times. The clever girl does everything from boxes to more precise cuts. heavy bush work isnt what its for but it makes a great camp cook knife and the three hollow rivets on the handle make it great for lashing to a pole for a make shift spear. I just wouldn't use it for creek fishing, the tip is so fine and sharp, it's gonna be ruined as soon as you hit something solid.

If it came to a confrontation with that, I think I'd prefer a small hilt and a hole in the blade to put an index finger through? I'd also definitely add a paracord loop to the pommel hole too, in case it gets knocked out of your hand and there's a potential scramble for it.

Needs a guard on the handle to prevent slippage, especially for a thrusting blade like this. The handle looks like it won't slip easily but you do want a guard if things get... slick with viscous liquid that commonly happens in knige fighting. Even just an indentation so you don't get hit with a stop thrust and lose a finger would be nice.

All the people who trained me in knife defense called it last ditch defense and said be prepared to be cut if your attacker has a knife, or lose the knife all together. Knife fighting is for the movies, if you haven't trained religiously for years, then everyone is right in thinking that knife will be taken from you. I’m a blade smith, been working steel into knives for almost ten years now. In my humble opinion, that is a slasher not necessarily a stabber. Now the reason I say that is because the tip of that blade is so fine that if it hits bone it’s gonna snap off. The curvature of the blade itself makes it perfect for a simple slash to the SCM muscle in the neck which controls your ability to lift your head. If you want a penetrating knife you actually want a blade point that is slightly rounded but still sharp and then tapers off into a wider bevel. Also, that handle would become increasingly uncomfortable if you were to actually put force into slashes or stabs. If the handle becomes bloody, your hand is going to slip and you’re gonna cut down to bone because there’s no guard.
    Still, I cool knife though.

The handle scales are actually G10, not metal. It's just that they are thin and the tang is so thick that it gives that impression.
The handle depends on your preference. If this was a work knife I would agree with you. But as a combat knife, this is only going to be in your hand for emergencies.
In that kind of situation, comfort takes a back seat to functionality. I've been reversing grip on this knife since I got it last week. It's basically impossible to fumble, even for a beginner.
In a tough situation, this blade stays in your hand even when wet. I like that!

I own this and it came sharp enough to shave my ballsack. I also plan on buying an Emerson Folder called "Hattin" that has an identical blade shape.

@@goyoelburro Emerson makes 2 different folders based on this blade shape (which is a traditional Japanese tanto) You'll notice it is much different than the American tanto. The 2 models are the Emerson Hattin and the Emerson Tactical Kwaiken. The Hattin is currently out of stock but the Kwaiken is still available.

The Hattin is a "Persian" style blade. This is a Hira Zukuri Tanto. Emerson makes a folder called the Kwaiken which is tanto style profile like this blade.

@@ericsierra-franco7802 Then how come Emerson has a knife called "The Emerson Persian" that looks somewhat different than the Hattin? 😆
Anyway, all 3 blades look very similar. They can slice and stab very well, like a Japanese Katana.

How many knife fights have you been in?

    • @goyoelburro
      @goyoelburro  9 місяців тому +4

None. It would horrify me to ever have to hurt a person with one of my knives.
What does that question even mean or imply? The guy who designed this literally shows how it is to be used in combat and it is made for that purpose.
Do you ask your friends who own handguns how many gunfights they have been in?
Yep, that's how ridiculous you sound...
