It's a great little trick for novice DIYers who may not have the supplies or tools to use the more traditional method. Even as a seasoned DIYer, it has its place!
thanks so much for this video. I have several cracks and some holes around my home. I recently bought Fibatape and small tub of Spackling but haven’t used either yet. My son doorknob went through his wall so i have around hole and this video was awesome to show me how to fix it. Can I fix cracks with just the spackling only and some sanding?
As long as the cracks aren't getting worse and they're not much more than hairline, you should be fine with just some spackle and sanding. If they're wider than hairline, you'll really need to tape and mud otherwise the cracks will just end up opening again. I plan to do a video on taping and mudding but I don't have one yet. You can find plenty of tutorials on UA-cam, though.
