- This has been a very strange Rome Masters, with Novak Djokovic bowing out in the 3rd round to Tabillo after taking a water bottle to the head. Also, will Jannik Sinner even play the French Open? His hip injury looks worse than was thought.

I really think he is just going through a little phase. "I have already won it all". "What should I do now?" "I can't win forever". "But I know I still have it", "where's my motivation?". That kind of thing

I do wish they would all retire before they decline.
Nothing in life is certain. For all of us, some years are better than others. I don't understand why we have to assume that something's up with Novak. It's just a series of events that happen to add up to a lesser first quarter of 2024 than 2023. He's closer now to the end of his career; therefore, just like Federer and Nadal, he's going to play fewer tournaments, while focusing on Grand Slam events for the most part. I'm willing to bet he WILL play Roland Garros AND Wimbledon. Why would he not play his favorite tournament, Wimbledon, the one he has said he dreamt about most as a kid? Also, it's not just a boink in the head; a concussion of that sort, where there was bleeding, nausea, and headaches, might have also included internal bleeding. That's not something to be trifled with.
This is simply the end of the Djoker era. No more slams, no more masters 1000. Nothing is eternal (not even our beloved GOAT)

Hope he is OK. It was clearly an accident you can see it fall out of the man's backpack who is immediately above Djokovic, It only falls about 5 ft. I sure it did not feel great but it surly did NOT give him a concussion.
I see drama about Novak retirement, but I can see that he is more motivated to be with his family after many years of being absent. Maybe getting old for sport, but still young for other areas of his life. Everything is how it should be. Except getting hit in the head.

Novak's real strong point which has led him to be the one with the most tournaments won even though in my opinion of the big three he is the one with the least class (not that he doesn't have any) has always been his mentality. Now that perhaps he is giving up on that side it is normal for him to lose, obviously without taking into account his age.
Class is sportsmanship. And novak has the most of the big 3. Fed said in 2006 davis cup that novak was a joke who faked his injuries. After losing to him in us open 2011 semi, fed whined that novak hit lucky shots after mentally quitting. Find me anything remotely close to that lack of class on novaks side. And be careful with racket smashing because fed was guilty of that too in miami 2009. You fedal fanboys are the absolute worst with your baseless hatred and disrespect. The only thing you can hang your hat on is the emotional feeling you get from their play. Cuz you have no stats anymore. Just accept that novak is the goat and stop your crap.
