had a few minor tank slappers as well. Buy s set of bar lifters but not just the ones that lift the bar and inch or two only. The bars also need to move an inch forward. So it's one to 2 inches up and 1 forward. I'm 5'10 and weigh 200lbs. I find if you move your body forward and place more weight over the front wheel you get better stability. Now bear in mind the opposite is applicable for dirt riding. You do not want your weight over the front wheel on dirt!!! So with bar risers you move your ass back when on dirt. Also do not clamp onto the bike with your knees. your hips tend to mess up the balance. You can always try a steering damper but It's a waste of good money. As for speed 85mph is about max yes. I've done 2 trips one Cape to Cairo and back again and I leave the BMW and KTM's in the dust. They outrun me by faaaaaaaaaar but on the tricky stuff I just plough through while they battle their behemoths. By the time they get to wherever we need to be they are all fucked up while I'm having my 2nd beer. Also, my parts are a 10th of their prices. Not a bike for the vertically challenged though. Anything less than 5'6 and you better look for something else. Oh one more thing. These bikes are set up for 75kg riders which mean most of the time the factory preload is all cock-eyed. if you get the preload right it also adds to the stability. not much more you can do with stock suspension. invest in a good bicycle pump for the front shocks.
At sea level going with the wind I got mine up to 105, however I will not ever try it again. It was still climbing very slowly but the front wheel started to wobble to the point I was about to loose it. Mine is a 2015 I bought new, it now has 3,302 miles on it in 2024. It was completely stock at the time. Please keep the wobble in mind if you find yourself going with a good wind and feeling brave. Wiping out on a bike is bad but one as tall as these even worse.
If you want to ride on the interstate hwy get the 650 thicker seat more power will do 65-70 all day with out breaking a sweat and you get passenger footpegs just make sure you can reach the ground preferably flat footed ....just my 2 cents
I've hit about 98-100 on my 2019 tucked in really tight but it's too twitchy at that speed definitely scary just wanted to see what it would do dropped down to a 14 tooth front sprocket I don't need a 100 mph dirt bike the 14 tooth definitely makes it more snappy

Yeah but Johnny Campbell had a tuned XR650R that guaranteed had balanced tires, steering stabilizer and a steering dampener. But yeah he was hauling ass during the Baja races. I think he hit 110 in a certain stretch too.

75mph felt like all I needed to go
My DR is about the same. Nice footage!
Had my 1997 xr650L up to 103. That was all she had
Tailgating a Toyota D4D pickup slipstream I recorded 108 mph on my GPS many years ago. This was on 14/45 gearing.

Good run 💪🏼 Check or have the neck bearing torque specs checked , on new bikes they tend to loosen up quickly. It might help the wobble.

Stock sproket ratio? I can see the wobble at 80+ definetely scary. I can run 80+ with 80% street tires. unsure what causes the wobble.
Everything stock.
Put ya little bigger front sprocket on it’ll boost the top speed
