- Some involved in a heroes' welcome at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport for a group of Marines spoke to 10News about the emotional experience.
Class act by the three passengers in business who volunteered their seats so this group of Marines could stay together. Well done. Bravo!
praetorx ian yes indeed😊👍👍
I worked for an airline at L.A. (LAX) & am happy to say first class passenger give up their seats for the military on a regular basis. I even had one guy who wanted to keep his first class seat, so he paid to upgrade a Marine !!!
@@bju194422that’s amazing!
@@bju194422 ...selfish but rich. LOL.
Those 1st class passengers that gave up their seats really are 1 class Americans ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Three people volunteered. Amazing.
Bless the people who gave up their seats!
This type of behavior is long overdue . They deserve all the respect we can give .

No they don't
@@MarksTournamentsYou need help.
I was one of those MARINES.... Semper Fidelis, Colonel T, U.S.M.C.
Thank you so much for your service.
I know that it can't be easy, having to deploy overseas because an incompetent or deranged president wants a war to distract from a scandal/investigation, or to bring his approval ratings up, or simply to make money for himself and/or his campaign supporters.
And I hope that you don't have to fight in another needless war again.
Be safe out there.
@@cheshirekat3050 Ummm did you happen to see the date on this video? Clearly not. Lol 11/06/13 I do remember a president by the name Obama being in office in 2013. #TrumpDerangementSyndrome at its finest right there.
@@cheshirekat3050 Someone's been binge watching CNN and still believes the Russian collusion hoax. Pathetic

Semper fi brother... happy you guys made it back and were given the treatment you deserved!
The three people who gave up their expensive first class seats was class. 😃
Need more of it because they need to Know WE CARE ❤
Wow, lucky them, when I came home from Iraq for R & R, in DCU's mind you, I had to beg the flight attendant if I could be moved to a window seat, had my camera all ready to go to take pictures of my hometown, she said, "I'll ask around" finally after like fifteen or twenty minutes she came back and said she found a seat but it was in a exit row, would I mind sitting there? She must have been from the west coast, they have no idea how the military works, but it turns out the seat was next to a mom and daughter, and no one else, two people, three seats, and the flight attendant had to "ask around"
The reception at DFW was great, but when you feel you don't deserve it, it's hard to appreciate it, but when I got home and saw all the familiar buildings again, I had to let out a little tear, but as they say, never let them see you cry.
These stories must be really hard for veterans of the Vietnam War to see. My late father did two tours in Vietnam, and when he returned for good, no one wanted to speak to a veteran.
I’m from the UK and I bloody love the US!
I bloody love the UK, Sam. I was stationed over there at RAF Alconbury for 2 of the best years of my life. I even met and married my wife there. 38 years later and still going strong together.
I remember when I landed and all those people were waiting on me at Dayton airport. I got to be a rockstar for a day, I wish I was articulate enough to describe to you what that did to me.
Nicholas Thank You for your Service to our great country . I'm an Air Forcre Veteran .
Thank you for serving our country Nicholas Wells! That must have been really nice when you arrived at Dayton airport. Nice homecoming you get to tell your kids about!
I had that happened once. It was an amazing feeling. Reminds you of why you’re doing what you’re doing
Hope someday we in india would start giving the same respect to our men in uniform...Great gesture
God bless you, thank you for your service. This should not be a one time event !!! In my humble opinion. We have not had a ticker tape parade, for all the veterans, e-v-e-r-y-o-n-e of them!
God bless you all and Thank you for your Bravery. USA. USA. USA.
💖🇺🇸💙 💖🇺🇸💙. 💖🇺🇸💙. 😘🌹😁
They need this and more true heroes.because of these young men An women the rest of us can enjoy our freedom eavryday while they put their lives on the line.
thank you for your service gentlemen.
What a great story. Thank you all for your service and thanks to all of the kind people who welcomed you to your short rest.
As a Vietnam veteran I am glad they are being well received.
Thank you for your service. My late husband was also a Vietnam veteran , USMC. Wishing you good health
Mate I was only born in 1972 but have lots of respect for Vietnam Vets and sincerely hope that troops coming home will never be treated that way again🙏🏻👍🇦🇺
thanks for your service! I'm sorry Nam vets weren't well received. the way they were treated was horrible!
I was scared to were my uniform back from vietnam Jan 1969
@@hippielewis4768 that's so unfair.. regardless of how you feel about war, you never blame the solider. it's very disappointing to know how soliders were treated then. I've never seen anything like that in my lifetime ( born in 91) and I hope I never do!
well deserved. our freedom because of them.
Class. Just class. God Bless America.
Semper fi guys from fellow Marine God bless
Now that is what I call first class.
EXCELLENT,I come from a Marine Corps family both parents served in WW 2,older brother, husband and many peers in the Vietnam conflict,I lived off base at Camp Pendleton ,but went every day to shop at the B X and see my husband,my brother was at MCRD many ,many years ago,our favorite thing to do as a family was watch him march and the Di’s count candance.
God bless every single one of our troops serving now ,and those who fought bled and died for the freedom I and many others enjoy .
Fantastic report, well done American Airlines.
i think we need this again
My loves, my heroes, my soldiers! 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Such a heartwarming story that brings joy to everyone that received the news about The Marines that were on board.
Such joy it brought to me when those that gave up their seat did so.
A true act of kindness they gave to those men and women who serve our country. Such a sincere act that came from their hearts. There is a special place in Heaven to those that were on board and reached out to them.
I sent it to my son that’s deployed and he loved it. My youngest was KIA, but I know he would have appreciated this act of kindness too.
How wonderful it was to give our troops a warm welcome home. Thank you every person. You are what makes America great. ♥️🇺🇸♥️
Those three passengers 👏👏👏
American Airlines is for America, by America & of America.Just like The Great American Airlines I like to Salute & pay My Respect to American Military.American Navy & American Airforce. We are all Proud of You.
I am always in awe for our soldiers.
I had this happen when I came home from Iraq in 2009. A guy and his wife gave up their 1st class seats to me and my friend all the way from NJ to TX. I'll never forget it.
Awesome, people!
Wow. First off I'm shocked this happened anywhere outside of Texas. But Chicago?! Wow. I'm actually super shocked!!! American Airlines rocks!!!
More surprising was the 3 First Class Passengers, who gave up there seats. Hats off.
I want to hear more stories like this people. Let's do our job and make sure we accommodate the men and women who protect us. Idc if your a dem, rep, socialist, illegal immigrants or anti war people. These soldiers are told what to do and they do it for you and me. Thank them
How lovely!😀🙌🏻🙌🏻
Love it! As a Vietnam vet I'm so proud of the way we treat our troops now.
I was upgraded by American Airlines when I flew from Dulles to O'Hare back in 71. I never forgot the agents' efforts to get me on the plane. When I got to the ticket counter the agent told the gate personnel to hold the plane and he helped me carry my bags to the gate. There the gate agent upgraded me to a first class seat. The only drawback was my seatmate was an older man in a business suit(I was in my Marine uniform.). He acted like it was an imposition to have to sit next to a service man.
I have a man in the military I miss him so much I'm pray for him
America’s Best…❤
thats the way it should be... always.. well done all...
Got a pass out of Basic at Dix in 1969. Three days. Got upgraded to "Caravelle", small liners all first class. The cabin crew said they were all out of breakfast. I'd have to do with the nutrition in endless little bottles of wine. Great flight.
Finally!! Why can't this happen all the time to our troops. And I mean for all branches.

So many cryptic replies in the comments
One person randomly dropped their email as a reply, another just said "L9" and some don't even make any sense
I love this
We should act this for our returning service men and women in the U.K.
Awesome!
That is awsome. Never had that happen to me. I think it was the attitude ao the populos back then when I came home from Viet-Nam
On my way back home from Vietnam I was spit on and called a baby-killer. Thankfully times have changed
Love marines
spent about one year camp Pendelton 1974, big training base
Does any other soldier or Marine ever get a bit weirded out when civilians do this kind of thing?
I know I do.
Farscryer0 i never knew what to say or do either. You arent alone lol
No. There's still a lot people who love our country.
I always got wierded out. When you expect to fly on a C-17 all the way home, but they fly you in First Class, it's quite the shock.
At first yeah, but it's pretty awesome knowing that these people are willing to do all this for us. I'd rather have this than all the boos our Vietnam vets got when they returned.
I always replied to "Thank you for your service" with "Thank you for the paycheck."
you would never see this now days
I had to pay extra to get home from desert storm, my uniforms were burned, and I was in coach… I missed the big public welcome home, because I was three hours late… My mom still brings it up today…
As a Nam Vet, we had the same reception coming home. Major, MAJOR sarcasm.
Personally I think you were all treated outrageously totally uncalled for what you were all put thru on returning home proves those who were so disgusting towards you all didn't don't have a clue, obviously missing the courage strength and grit you all had I think of them with complete contempt !
Love this things
Wow! I was working for UNITED Airlines back then, never heard of united doing such thing!
Wow at least in America u guys get upgraded. We just get jacked up by flight staff about the weight of our gear lollll
Superb
Good stuff.
ANYTHING FOR YOU BROTHERS!!
The Lord shall not hold them guiltless who takes His name in vain.
I hop one day 2met my dad like that
My understanding is Marines aren't allowed to travel in uniform. My daughter is one.
So why didn't they recognize Vietnam vets like this?
Communist movement in the USA. And corrupt politicians.
It's not what they did for Marines coming home from Vietnam. I know I was one. It can't be made up, or apologized for either. RVN 1968 - 1972.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Not the same welcome we that served during Viet Nam received from people when we came home.
Welcomimg the militarys it is a risky road
That's an American , giving up your 1st class seat for a servicemen... Awesome.
rwjr98tj As a Marine vet, I'd give up my seat for an active duty Marine, Soldier, Sailor or Airman in a heartbeat.
Daniel Watts --- Damn right bro!!!
“ forever loyal“ that’s why I have it tattooed on my hand as well as “si vis pacem para bellum”.
Glad to see you made it back soldier, many of my family didn’t and I was too young to help.
No it isn't. I don't give up my seat for an IDF soldier.
@@REALBanannaman yep you're a first class POS..remember when the 💩 ever hits the fan here..dont go crying to our military
I was a Marine in uniform in Albuquerque trying to get home. I had hitched from El Toro in California. I paid for a military stand-by ticket to Pittsburgh. What I got from American Airlines was a First class ticket. The stewardesses loaded my carry on bag full with little bottles of booze. That was in 1970, I never forgot that! Thanks for all that you did for me. American Airlines was the (only people) that welcomed me back from Vietnam!
From a fellow Viet Nam vet, (68-69) Good to hear that at least some of us were well treated.
Usually the airline folks treated us very well. I got bumped up to 1st class a couple of times. It was AFTER you disembarked the plane that all of the hate started.
Thank you both for your service
@@davidmentzer4490 I truly appreciate you both. TRUE HEROS 🇺🇸 Thankyou.
You are the guardians of freedom Thank you for your service and sacrifice 🇺🇲🇺🇲🦅🦅
To All Vietnam Veterans Welcome Home and Thank you for your service.
I was upgraded in 1969 when I returned from Vietnam. There were 4 of us who got this also
thank you for your service
Thank you and bless you always
That was unusual. Y'all usually got spit and trash.
Thank you for your comment
Thank you, Sir.... Michael Didomenico for Serving in Vietnam and keeping us safe. I was in High School during the 60's. 🇺🇸😘🇺🇸💖💙 God bless you and your fellow Warriors.
Nicely Done American Airlines. I'm flying you wherever I go that you offer service from now on.
American Airlines also did an outstanding job for the MOH Convention a couple of months ago. Put all other airlines to shame that day.
I was flying home on Thanksgiving day in 1974. I was flying space available and every coach seat on the plane was fulled. The head flight attendant put me in first class so I could make it home on Thanksgiving. Oh and yes it was American Airline.
That's Amazing I Remember when I was a young Marine myself I was Flying home by myself and I was going to my seat when the Airline told me I had an upgraded seat in first class which surprised the heck out of me but I was very thankful said thank you and enjoyed my first ever Firat class I literally had done nothing yet but Graduate from BootCamp I guess that was a start of doing something....man these tears I also remember a Senior Couple giving me a Bottle of Water and a Orange because of my service it was definitely emotional
That's such a sweet story!!! I'm so happy there are so many American's that value what our military does. Thank you for serving our country. It is so very much appreciated.
I'm so glad those three souls gave up their seats for the Marines.
Making my way home from training in Texas before getting to my first duty station I was upgraded to first clas and slept in comfort the whole flight back home to the Chicago area.
Only time I've ever flown first class lol
American airlines has always been a great business towards military i have nothing but great experiences with them while i was in service more airlines should take a play out of their book thank you for the support
Thank you all for your service. I greatly appreciate it.
Delta could learn from this respect!!
that is how you should treat the men and women who defend you.. shame ours in the UK are not treated so well..
*****
they are by our own people, But some nutjob muslims are allowed to swear and call names to our returning troops, protected by the police , now our troops are told not to march back to their barracks on returning to to UK..
the people are. its the police and Government that is letting them and us down..
liam thompson
Nowhere in the Bible does it say to fight anyone.. However there are over 50 verses in the quran that says to fight the unbelievers. and to only let none muslims live in lands they control if they pay a tax to do so and they feel subdued and humiliated..so it gets up my nose when pratts in government say islam is a religion of peace, clearly they have never read the quran..
paddy6062 Nowhere in the bible does it say to fight anyone? the bible is full of such teachings, Deuteronomy 17:12
2 Chronicles 15:12-13 to name but 2 places the bible talks of killing non-believers . All religions are the same. British troops are told not to wear uniform in public for their safety and to not offend certain peoples. This country ( MY country) is no longer the place where we respect our armed forces but have to apologise for them. Political correctness gone mad . And religion allowed to much say, extremists allowed to say what they want and get protection while they do.
Debra smith I am talking about an ongoing war with all none believers. and not those that were time specific like the old Jewish testament. Jesus gave no such orders in fact told Christians to love their enemy's. not fight and or kill them..
I am from Germany, and I love to see how much US-citizens morally support their soldiers - that is really great.
How great! Just what they deserve. Good for the people giving up their seats
Very cool. Maybe, someday people will do the same for all the doctors and nurses dying to save people's lives from Covid.
Love this!!! Semper Fi Marines and thank you for your service wherever you are!!!
Well done American Airlines and those giving up there 1st class seats.
I flew from London to Rome going to a military exercise, the were like 10 of us, they upgraded us to 1st class. We drank all the beer on the plane 😂

And the women too sorry ladies!
Your freedom has never actually been at risk, bud. You owe them nothing.
I remember how all the Airlines treated me when I flew in the Sixties & Seventies. They would always upgrade me to first class. I really Thank them.
*THAT WAS SO AWESOME OF AMERICAN AIRLINES, THEY'VE SET THE STANDARD FOR OUR MILITARY SOLDIERS, HOPEFULLY, IT WILL RUB OFF ON OTHER AIRLINES, WE CAN ONLY HOPE!!!* *AND DON'T FORGET THE EATS AND TREATS, IF YOU KNOW WHAT WE MEAN...[PLENTY OF BEER]*
A big thank you to the airline and MUCH bigger thank you to the 3 passengers who gave their sits to our beloved military members
I wish we would have this type of respect in germany
The 3 that gave up their 1st class seats for our hero's should be commended and maybe American Airlines could now do something for them! I am a Proud American...always was and always wii be!
I remember Xmas 2007 flying from San Diego to Massachusetts and I was on the phone with my mom at the airport. I was deploying to Iraq in Feb 2008 and I was happy as hell to be going home for Xmas before deployment. Well someone with the gate personnel hears me and when I handed my ticket over they asked for my military ID which scared me and then proceeded to tell me I was upgraded to first class and treated me like a hero and I hadn't even deployed yet. Thank you for showing us so much love!!! You have no idea how these small moments are the biggest memories to us.
I would like to think the Ranking Marine would have include himself in the three coach seats had those three 1/c not yielded their seats!
That's the way Marines are. The lowest ranking Marine eats first, etc.
Very true!
That's awesome... My dad got back to a very different ordeal from Vietnam. But it does make him happy that our troops comes home to this reception now.
Your dad should of been truely respected most importantly SHOWN !
