I think the dunkey videos that don’t always perform well are the ones where the reactor needs some knowledge of a previous video of his or of a game he’s discussing. Like, if you knew absolutely nothing about The Last of Us, watching “Discussing Last of Us 2 with UA-cam comments” would not do as well as the regular “UA-cam comments” video.
RE2 on N64 was actually more complicated. What they did was the compressed the voice acting audio and the FMV cutscenes. There’s a part of the game in either scenario where a character can encounters character and it will play a cutscene but the difference is you hear the voice of that character if you choose which character to play first. The N64 port removed one of them so you hear one characters voice even if you aren’t playing as them. It was a good way to removed it since it was the same cutscene outside that small difference. If you had an expansion back, the game would also play in 480i instead of 240p like the PlayStation. Load times are faster, you have a third person control scheme option. A exclusive cheat code that makes you invincible. Sound surround is also here with the exception of said voice acting and FVM cutscenes. It unfortunately also cut the Extreme Battle Mode but has randomized mode for items, new costumes, files and auto aim. It’s a great port that I’m happy to have.
~ 12:00 fully agree some designs stay famous longer than the games, just a few examples shooting in my head right now . BGM : if you look to touhou, rockman, castlevania, guiles theme, the tetris theme a.s.o.. or the atmospheric noises of the fauna / flora of subnautica . or single sounds , like the metal gear solid call sound & alarmed " ! " sound . or using technical features to the fullest, e.g. : using surround-sound so that you hear traffic, danger, ambiance just from those channels where they actual are in the game-world . you don't need to see the hunter when you can hear the foliage and leafs rustle at your 8 o'clock position a.s.o. sound-design is so difficult to nail down but makes or breaks games more than 3080ti-melting graphics . have a nice day ^_^
I think I saw the same video that zach(sp?) mentioned, on the resident evil 2 N64 port lol. ModernVintageGamer did a video on it. If anyone was curious and wanted to look it up for themselves
a two disc ps1 game didn't really use all 700mb of data truly that i know of that made them get a 2nd disc it just contained too much content so they split it between 450-500mb~ a lot of the compression to n64 was video and audio which still today take tremendous amounts of time. I installed a 65 gigabyte game and the music/audio files were 12 gigs of it.
Need more dunkey
