+ScreenPrism -- You describe RavenClaw with an *High-Minded Academic Mind Stuck in the Clouds* trope, which is OLD as time. It's came from Aristophanes who meant it as an insult towards the philosopher Socrates over 2,400 years ago. Academics with his head stuck in the clouds is recognizable in English literally because the name Aristophanes gave the play where he insults Socrates was titled *_The Clouds,_* and it is *old as time* in theater history. Take the oldest known play that exists in Western Culture, and this insult trope was created for a play just 50-years later....Basically, it's over 2,400 years old
I'm not ragging on J.K. or saying that using a recognizable trope is bad, but the history of it is interesting, especially when it was created to be an insult.
Another great example of a ravenclaw in movies is Jack Sparrow. He's charming and very witty which he uses his quirks to throw people off when he gets into tight situations. He loves the way he does.
You missed the fact that Bronze is the only one you have to make. Gold and Silver are elements, bronze is an alloy that required intelligence and work to acquire.
@@MikeKilo1969 I'm sure Rowling was aware of that. If you go to Harry Potter wiki, it says that the official colours are blue and bronze in the books, but were changed to blue and silver in the film.
Ravenclaws are CURIOUS. Hermione wouldn’t fit into Ravenclaw at all - Ravenclaws break rules constantly just to find out what happens. They’d be constantly blowing stuff up just to see what happens. Its not about being clever, it’s about wanting to learn.
One thing ravenclaws definitely arent is studious. They dont care about revising because they don’t want to be confined to what the book says or the syllabus, they’d rather find out stuff themselves. Hermione would DEFINITELY not get along with them.
Yess, I've always gotten the best grades whenever I really cared about something - and then I failed classes I couldn't bother to look into. Teachers were probably perplexed, I never fit into any idea of what they expected. They tended to see all of us either as failures or as successes, no in between. Also, there's a misunderstandment that Ravenclaws do things because they're the logical and reasonable thing to do - which is something that's more a Slytherin trait, at least in my mind. Ravenclaws are not stressing over decisions too much, I think we understand that nothing is definite, everything is a good lesson even if we fail, and who cares what other people think?
Never understood how Luna was thought to be so nutty. You got people transforming into cats, giant floating cloaks that suck out people's souls, a talking hat that can read your mind and you're telling me that she's crazy because she believes there's invisible creatures running around?
It was to establish that magic has its limitations. Certain things just don't exist in the magical world and if you believe in them you are considered crazy. You could likewise ask why it's crazy to believe in Unicorns in world where Rhinoceros exist.
My though exactly She might be looked as weird by ppl, who were born in the wizarding world, but now by muggleborn, who just found about there is actually magic
Hate me but here’s why hermione is not a ravenclaw but Luna is: Hermione is book smart and has a very high IQ which allows for her to store a superb amount of information in her brain. She however is pretty stubborn, rigid and can’t think outside of what she’s been given via books and doesn’t question what she’s learned. If her knowledge is challenged then she feels angry (due to her low temper) that someone thinks they are right compared to her, rather than becoming curious about pursuing truth and thinking of all the viewpoints and arguments of a topic. Luna is naturally imaginative, curious, philosophical and open-minded without relying on information given from other people and textbooks. She basically generates her own ideas through observing the world. People with this type of intelligence tend to be eccentric and seen as an oddball, although they may invent radical inventions and think of revolutionary ideas. They also can come off aloof and detached and often function solo more often than in packs of followers or leaders, which is reflected in the symbol of the eagle, which is a solo animal. This is what many don’t like about them, since they don’t abide by the status quo and happily do their own thing.
Spot on, but you’re kind of playing into the misconception that people with high IQ’s are close-minded and/or uncreative. The trend actually points in the opposite direction.
@porkbun What do you mean by "someone is gonna give you more"? (Just asking because I actually don't get what you mean.) People like Ravenclaw better than Hufflepuff and it is the truth. People don't like Hufflepuff because they think it sucks. At least people won't be disappointed to be in Ravenclaw. Some people think that being in Hufflepuff is a disgrace. I love Ravenclaw too. PS: My friends said they like Ravenclaw more than Gryffindor.
That's something that has always bothered me, we really don't have an outstanding wizard or witch for Ravenclaw. Surely Lockhart was a renoun wizard, but he ultimately went down the road. I know Fleetwick is known to be a talented wizard but without a main participation in the story and although Luna helps Harry figure out some things, we don't really get an important character for the development of the plot.
Ravenclaws are the house most likely to accept people who are strange or who are open-minded, but who can surprise you with how insightful some of their more outlandish sounding ideas are. When I was growing up, I identified so much with Luna, as she showed me that's it's alright to be a little odd, and not everyone sees the world the same way. Luna thinks with ideas and possibilities, all things that Ravenclaws pride themselves on, and is just as intelligent as Hermione, who fixates more on logic and common sense. I'd encourage everyone to think like Luna, and unleash their creative minds! 💙🐦
I think Luna kinda disproves that Ravenclaws are an accepting house though (or at least more accepting than the other houses). I mean, in order for her bullies to be stealing stuff from her room, they must have been Ravenclaws themselves. That said, yeah I love Ravenclaw :) I was a Hufflepuff-Ravenclaw hatstall and even though I decided on Hufflepuff after a good bit of inner conflict, I still indentify a lot with Ravenclaw :)
@@MsAsh3070 That would not be Luna herself that disproves that that would be the bullies but also some other people other than Ravenclaws could have possibly gotten in an also Luna think it was nargals that stole her things and I don't remember if they ever said if it was bullies who stole her stuff
@@Josh-the-man You are kidding right because this video explains they are more than just smart because they are so much more. They are creative, open minded, and a bit eccentric. They value wisdom they are not born smart but they learn about what they are passionate about learning about
i wish we'd get some ravenclaw oriented story or film...at this point all of the other three houses has their time to be the center of the show but not ravenclaw...
@@westonkouryfan69 I think it's less about being underappreciates/underrated, and more about how people who aren't Ravenclaw don't really understand or think about Ravenclaw. There's this strange disconnect between Ravenclaw and all the other three houses that make things silently awkward. Everyone else just thinks, "Yeah, Ravenclaw! The smart house!" and Ravenclaw is over here thinking, "Smart? Tell that to the damn riddle I can't answer! I'm late for class just because I can't explain why a raven is like writing desk, and I stupidly left my homework in the dorm!!! How the hell am I SMART?!?!" And furthermore, beyond the label of "smart", no one actually THINKS about Ravenclaw. They think of Gryffindor because of Harry, they think of Slytherin because "the bad guys", and now they think of Hufflepuff because of Newt. Even before, they thought of Hufflepuff, because that was the house people made fun of. Meanwhile, there's nothing really "exceptional" about Ravenclaw, that others find worthy enough to talk about. We're not the good guys, we're not the bad guys, and we're not the underdogs. We're just... the smart ones. The students in the background that no one thinks about. Probably studying or reading a book or getting straight A's on an assignment. Ravenclaw is literally the BACKGROUND characters. That's how people see it. So it's not that Ravenclaw is underappreciated or underrated. We just don't feel SEEN, altogether. As though the other three houses just have more to talk about. Which isn't true. That's what this video is trying to prove. And we're grateful for it. That's all.
A person reads "The sky is blue!" in a book. Gryffindor - "So, the sky is blue. OK." Slytherin - "So what if the sky is blue? Why do I care?" Hufflepuff - "The sky is blue!" Ravenclaw - "Is it really blue? Why is that?"
Because the atmosphere absorbs all wavelength of light with the exception of blue wavelengths that is reflected into our eyes. Also my response was the slytherin one **cries in confusion**
Ravenclaw is the most underrated house. All of the other houses has main characters (Harry has his own movie. Draco, Snape and Voldemort are huge plot points. And Newt has a whole movie. Yes, we have many great characters in Ravenclaw, but none of them are really main plot points.)
@@fowpanhq1766 I feel like that's getting better because of Newt. But Hufflepuffs traits are underrated and people should stop portraying them as weak.
@@lulooper Hopefully after FB, we get a story with a Ravenclaw or a ravenclaw-like lead. I love Newt as a protagonist because he is still clearly a Hufflepuff and not transformed into a Griffindor. I look forward to FB 2!
@@franziskasanders3943 Sadly, I don't think we will be getting a Ravenclaw protagonist anytime soon (from what I've heard), but even if we do not get a main Ravenclaw main character-- we should still love our house.! Maybe being "the most underrated house" might become one of the reasons why we're so interesting ;)
It's very intriguing how the symbols and motifs of each of the houses worked out. Gryffindor's element is fire and those from Gryffindor are often those who are fueled with a desire or a goal, and this side of them often allows them to become either a beacon of light (harry potter, dumbledore, the marauders) or a devastating fire (peter pettigrew, dumbledore, the marauders). Gryffindors are also known as lions, and like lions they have great strength (physical, magical, mental etc) in them, and while they may be able to work fine alone, they are more powerful together both in a good way and a bad (the golden trio vs the marauders). The red and gold of their house represents their passion and heart of gold, but at the same time it represents their blind frenzy due to their passion, the blood they may or may not spill, and impracticality. Slytherin's element is water, and as such they are the opposite in almost every way from Gryffindors, apart from their obvious impact on the world. (fire and water are the two most obviously impactful elements) Rather than relying on fiery emotions and passion, they rely on cool ration and calculation.Their way of method is more subtle and thus often requires time to take effect but are undeniably successful one way or another (snape, voldemort, regulus black). Like their symbol snakes/serpents, Slytherins are brutal and ruthless and are naturally soloists. However, due to them being very similar to one another they often end up working together for their goals and when done well they prove to be a force to be reckoned with. (have you seen snakes attacking a single opponent together? it's horrifically incredible and they're not even necessarily working as a team) Despite this, they do have a loving side to them which they show only to their closest, as water is an element that feed life and love. Their green and silver represents their wealth (money, the greens of nature) and social class (silver spoon), but it also represent their envy, greed, and tendency for corruption. Hufflepuff's element is earth, and like the earth they surely do contribute but are underappreciated. They often end up providing the fundamentals of things, such as upholding and fixing the law (hufflepuffs are the most who work in the ministry, susan bones and amelia bones were the ones who gave harry the chance of proving himself not guilty & skilled), making discoveries and writing a textbook for future generations to learn (newt!!), providing delicious and hearty meals for everyone (helga hufflepuff's contribution), or allowing someone to grow (cedric). Like their symbol the badger, Hufflepuffs are hardworking, friendly unless provoked, and protective of those they deem to be close (cedric protecting harry, newt and pickett, ernie & hannah about justin/hufflepuff/muggleborns). The yellow and black represents their fairness, sunny disposition and perseverance, but also their naivety and unreasonable stubbornness. Ravenclaw's element is air, and very much like their element Ravenclaws are inconspicuous most of the time. Their expertise and crafts has influenced many's life in the grand spectrum but not many exactly notice their influence and presence (ollivander's wands, trelawney's prophecies, luna's perception, cho's emotional intelligence), and Ravenclaws tend to not care whether they get noticed or not, nor do they care if they are seen strange in the eyes of others. Like the eagles, they strive high for what they want and what they see as the truth, and if they see their chance they do not let it out of their claws, and there is a certain charm and dignity to this (cho, luna, xenophilius, ollivander). The blue and bronze represents the openness and clarity of their mind, flexibility, and widespread influence (bronze was/is used industrially and artistically), but it also means that they can be aloof, misfits, and unfocused.
@@atrudokht to be honest everyone gets lost in their thoughts every now and then . For example when you walk along a park you get lost in deep thoughts. It happens to almost everyonee and not just few people
That is an interesting explanian. If you haven't done it already, I highly recommend watching all five Screen Prism videos on Hogwarts houses. In a way Hogwarts houses are like the four humors. Choleric is the humor of fire. It is active and bold, like Gryffindor. Melancholic is the humor of earth. It is calm and steady, like Hufflepuff. Sanguine is the humor of air. It is volatile and cheerful, like Ravenclaw. Phlegmatic is the humor of water. It is flexible and sensitive, like Slytherin.
The only thing is that water signs in the zodiac are very much ruled by emotions, for better or worse, and rather air signs are cool and calculated. Great analysis!
I always identified with the ravenclaw house but every time I talked to my friends about it they always told me that I wasn‘t because my grades were not very good. It made me feel terrible. Because what I loved about the house wasn’t their academic intelligence but the way they see the world. They were not afraid to think outside of the box and take things into consideration that others would not even think about because of their weirdness. They see the life and movement in the world and just want to explore.
Exactly, i’ve never really bothered looking at the houses more in depth I always viewed Ravenclaws as very logical and book smart. So every time i’ve done the pottermore quiz i’ve gotten Ravenclaw every time im not really academically gifted i’ve always done terrible at school so me being a Ravenclaw never even crossed my mind but there was a lot of things about Luna that I saw in myself. I think if i did go to a Hogwarts there is no doubt that I would be put into Ravenclaw.
Ravenaws would not only be the house with scholarly smarts, they also would be full of people who had what are called "learning difficulties" . They also would have a run on the Artists, Dreamers, artificers of Magical items, Oracles and the truly inescapably Mad, but they'd laugh about that last one....point is, Intelligence comes on many shapes and forms, and Rowena wouldn't of made a distinction on which is preferable....we are also Pragmatic to a fault...
Grades are a mark of compliance, not intelligence. They prove someone’s ability to do as they are told, consistently. Schools are confining, they tell you what to study, they have many rules and require good behavior to succeed. Ravenclaws are not interested in rules, we question them. To the extent we follow them, it’s only because our real interests just so happen to be in alignment. So, unless a Ravenclaw truly values their schoolwork, it’d be expected for them to have bad grades.
As an example I could devour entire textbooks when I was younger, and ace tests without much effort, at all! But I hated going to class, It moved too slowly and bored me and I’d act out. Other times I’d skip altogether. That alone caused bad grades for years. Intelligence doesn’t matter in traditional institutions, it’s all about compliance and conformity.
Gryffindor: the house of the protagonist so you’re kinda supposed to like it Slytherin: the house of the antagonists & villains so you’re kinda supposed to hate it Hufflepuff: Cedric + Newt = the house of cinnamon rolls Ravenclaw: the house of Luna. end of discussion. we all love Luna.
I believe that ravenclaws aren’t supposed to be pigeonholed, not just Luna ( as much as I love her). Ravenclaws are not just represented by one person (apart from Rowena ravenclaw herself)
I always liked to think of Ravenclaw as the scientific house, as in exploring, inventing, thinking outside the box and breaking new ground. It's not only book-smarts and studying, far from it. If there is something that catches your attention or an idea you just have to follow, homework can go screw itself.
Luna is one of the best written HP character. The scene in her bedroom where she has written about friends and friendship speaks loads about her. One of the best moments of the series💙💙
Totally in agreement! That moment always makes me tear up. Especially the scene where she tells Harry about how much she misses Dumbledore's Army, and that it was "Almost like having friends", and although she tries to keep up a perky spirit, she's very lonely underneath it all!
I LOVE Luna and there’s not nearly enough of her. Honestly, not to get too much into shipping...but I always favored the idea of Luna and Harry together. She’s so quirky and empathetic and he’s so introverted and abnormal. I think they would have been cute together.
I was reading Flitwick's wiki, and I found out he's half-goblin. This adds a whole new dimension of irritation when Umbridge measures him. Not only is it just insulting, but she has no love of half-breeds, so you can imagine all the frustrating implications that Flitwick can draw from her including his height in her report (say as evidence of his goblin heritage and thus unfit to teach...). But on a happier note as a Ravenclaw myself, I would love Flitwick as my head of house. He's laid-back, extremely qualified, fights against Voldemort, and really cares about student success. Iconic.
Also, according to his profile too, when his students are sad or lonely, especially his Ravenclaw students, he actually charms cupcakes into making them dance in order to cheer them up
another “dark” example of ravenclaw in fiction i’d say it’s hannibal (at least the TV show version). usually i see people putting him in slytherin, but when he was asked for his motives he just says “i was curious about what would happen”. i’d definitely say he has some serious slytherin undertones, but his core ideas are 100% ravenclaw.
Iroh has a strong Ravenclaw streak as well. He has an odd sense of humor and people often disrespect him for that because he plays on his oddball features to mask his true strength and wisdom (which is a very smart move in his situation, may I add). The fact that he was raised in a very radicalized and narrow-minded culture and still managed to come around and realize the error of his way on his own, speaks a lot about his open-mindedness and curiosity. And the peak of that must be inventing the redirection of lightning by fusing firebending with waterbending moves. Plus, he is probably the most emotionally intelligent character in the whole cast. If we look among the kids, I think Sokka would be probably the closest thing to a Ravenclaw, or maybe Katara, but they both have some common characteristics with Gryffindor and Hufflepuff, respectively. The others are kinda easy, Aang is a textbook Hufflepuff, Zuko is the complete embodiment of Gryffindor and Toph has very distinctive Slytherin vibes (probably with some Ravenclaw undertones? she tends to think outside the box a lot).
Luna was always my favourite character and this just made me realise why, it's probably why so many full grown adult nerds love her and Harry Potter haha. I think it is a shame how Harry and Luna (Daniel and Evanna) had so much chemistry yet he and Ginny (Bonnie) had none. I know Ginny was a lot different in the books but still, it didn't make sense on screen.
I have to say that yes, Ginny was a great character in the books, but Harry and Luna still have more chemistry than he does with her (and they have a lot more in the books, but still ... Luna and Harry are so support and cute together) Luna with Ginny is so cute, a cute friendship. I thought maybe both (Ginny and Harry) got a crush on Luna and that's why they named her daughter with her name 😂
I was so happy to hear that Ravenclaw's house was much more than just "Wisdom and Smart". Everyone thinks it means valuing academic smart and wisdom, but like Luna, Ravenclaw house is about thinking outside the box, and being flexible
Sometimes, Ravenclaw doesn't always mean "intelligence, witty, learning" it can also mean creativity. I'm a ravenclaw and I'm basically half and intelligence, and half creativity.
And Imaginative , I would say that’s 70% me , in my own world , however I need to learn to not let myself be caught by how I look and learn even though I don’t go to school , I just feel Luna represents me why I belong here , Unique ! Although I can be dumb and not clever most times but deeply passionate .
Compering the views in each of the house’s videos form the channel, Ravenclaw is the one with the most views. Which is hilarious to me, because of course a ravenclaw is gonna be the one that would want to know more about their house and wouldn’t just say “cool” and move on lol
Ravenclaw really think outside the box. They are abstract thinker. In the books the Ravenclaw door ask questions that does not have a straight forward answer. Which came first, the phoenix or the flame? The answers is a circle has no beginning or end. The Phoenix existence is one of death and rebirth.
I wonder if the Ravenclaw Door would except multiple answers if they were thoughtful enough and out-of-the-box enough to show a Ravenclaw's true nature? My first thought to that Ravenclaw question after not remembering the answer the book gave a long time ago was: "Phoenix, because it was the word that came first in the sentence before flame." XD
Yeah, when I heard that riddle that's exactly what came to mind. I'm like, but neither came first/ or both came first. They are circular. They both make each other.
@@PhilosophicalBum21 it probably does! There's never one answer to a question, so the possibilities of proper answers are numerous. Besides, it wouldn't be Ravenclaw if there is only one straight forward answer.
This riddle is much more difficult than the: What came first? The egg or the chicken? Riddle (The egg came first because there were other creatures that lay eggs. Not only the chicken)
@@agreeen But that's not what is asked for.. We should more question what an (chicken-)egg is: Is it an egg out of which a chicken will come, or is it an egg a chicken lays? And second step: connecting it to evolution: the first creature with the mutations to be a chicken was the first chicken. So it's more a language question. (English isn't my mother's tounge, sorry.)
Your Hogwarts house analysis videos are the most accurate interpretation I've seen. It not just based just a simple personality test. I especially liked how it clearly explained why Hermione isn't a Ravenclaw and there's more to it than just being "academic" or "witty"
I've been a Ravenclaw for over tens years. I wish our house was shown more in the books and movies so people can understand us more. Plus, why do the stores just have Gryffindor and Slytherin stuff?
If I’m being honest, I am glad our house isn’t talked about a lot in the books and movies. It really adds more mystery and secrets for people to want to learn more about Ravenclaw in their own time! If someone actually takes time out of their day to research more onto Ravenclaw, it would be easy to tell the difference between the people who actually like Ravenclaw and the people who don’t even know anything about it but still claim to like it.
Yes but also she isn’t one to break out of traditional thought categories exactly what the video said.... I think both of those factors play a role in her sorting
@@helpmyspaghettiiseatingme I can see your point. Some Ravenclaws definitely are out-of-the-box thinkers, like Luna, but it doesn't mean that all of them are like that. I can think of Rory Gilmore, Lisa Simpson and Amy Santiago. The three of them are always seeking knowledge, and we can't ignore their Ravenclaw side just because they don't want to break "traditional thoughts".
She's both and you can evsn argue that she also fits hufflepuff do ti jer loyalty. Harry,Neville and Hermione fit multiple then tiu have ppl likr Ron and peter ehk fit no where
I'M IN RAVENCLAW. I am way happier about it now after watching this too. Pottermore sorted me there and I have my desktop background set as the Ravenclaw common room. I am very happy with my house. Garrick Ollivander is my favorite Ravenclaw.
I could see him being either ravenclaw or hufflepuff but he would probably be more ravenclaw because he was creative with his acting and his impressions and would sometimes do a bit of improve with his impressions. I thought hufflepuff because it seems that he works really hard because he is in so many movies
Yes! His busking days prove he was independant and driven to do what he loved, or knew he was extremely good at. But he was conflicted and complex. Total Ravenclaw! It's a harsh house to be a part of 😭.
This is why I am more Ravenclaw than Slytherin. I used to think I was a Slytherin but I remembered I thought of multiple paths instead of pushing myself for one goal.
On another note the color blue could also symbolize Ravenclaw’s individuality from other houses, and their quirkiness because the colors red, yellow, and green are on the traffic light which are the colors of Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, and Slytherin, but blue (Ravenclaw’s color) isn’t on the traffic light. The color blue could also symbolize Ravenclaw’s introversion, because out of those four colors, blue was the last color to be labeled by ancient Greek, symbolizing Ravenclaw’s obscurity compared to the other houses.
Ravenclaws are very nonjudgemental of ideas and people since they find truth in opposing ideas and ideaologies with their vast reading and learning experiences. They are thought to be quirky because they don't take sides and hence seem odd.
Not necessarily. We tend to focus on something in particular that we find fascinating, but we’re not Hufflepuff’s. We are not automatically friendly and accepting of people no matter how odd they are. We are smart and like other smart people that we can talk to. Being extremely strange does not necessarily make you a Ravenclaw, nor does it mean that Ravenclaws will like you. Hermione was originally supposed to be a Ravenclaw and chose Gryffindor and she hated things that we’re illogical or strange. Luna got bullied by her housemates and everyone thought Trelawny was a weirdo and avoided her for the most part. Some Ravenclaw’s are extremely eccentric but most of us are more like Cho, Flitwick and Hermione. We just want to learn everything and focus on whatever we are really passionate about no matter how difficult or odd that subject may seem to everyone else.
Cinema Sis Welcome to the Ravenclaw club! I was almost sorted into Ravenclaw in a Hufflepuff-Ravenclaw hatstall myself, but I decided that I was better suited to being a Hufflepuff. Still, I regard Ravenclaw as my secondary house, of sorts!
Your curious, not nessarily smart -_- Your willing to try new things and don’t care if your a bit odd. When you see something that intrigues you, you want see what it’s about, and reason instead of getting upset instantly like Hufflepuff, charging in like Griffindor, or not seeing their side like Slytherin. (Might be wrong about that other houses)
I really liked this video. While I love Gryffindor House (represent!), and I really admire Hufflepuffs, I think Ravenclaw is by far the most courageous house in the Harry Potter series actually. There is nothing more courageous than being yourself and opening your mind because sometimes opening your mind and being authentic can be the most risky things you can do.
Oh wow! As a Ravenclaw, I am deeply flattered. We Ravenclaws are the nerds of the Hogwarts houses. We may seem brave from the outside. However it is more a matter of obliviousness and apathy. We just do our own thing and don't give a darn about what anyone else thinks. At least it is this way for me. Who knows? The video did say that Ravenclaws don't monopolize intellegence. Maybe Gryffindors don't monopolize courage either. Ravenclaws have the courage to be themselves and face solcial stigma. Snape is a Slytherin, and he is the bravest man that Harry has ever known. He was able to hang out with Voldemort of all people and still be a spy for Dumbledore. That is impressive. Somebody should give that guy a great big trophy. Newt Scamander is a Hufflepuff, and he has the bravery to connect with magical creatures, even the scary ones. He was even willing to face Credence in the first movie. Similarly Luna is Ravenclaw, and she is brave enough to face the creepy looking thestrals.
@@adelinoa.2049 Obviously? No one claimed so, they simply said that part of being in Ravenclaw is being open to receiving knowledge. Sometimes that means believing in nargles and liking thestrals. Being open-minded is how we learn new things and learning is the cornerstone of Ravenclaw. Please chill.
I love Ravenclaws, I always tease them about being too uptight, but after watching this, Ravenclaws are really interesting and I’m proud that my sister is one
Likewise, my brother is also a Ravenclaw, as he exhibits the thirst for knowledge and as the wit that Ravenclaws are renowned for down to an art. Even though I'm a proud Hufflepuff, I consider Ravenclaw to be my secondary house, as I'm very much in touch with my creativity!
I also have a ravenclaw sister and I think another one is most likely a ravenclaw or she could possibly be either a slytherin or maybe a hufflpuff but idk because I don't think she has taking a sorting quiz in a while and I don't remember what she was and I'm not sure if she knows. I am a hufflpuff whose secondary house is ravenclaw I took the full quiz and that is also what I thought before I took the quiz. I am a hufflpuff with some strong ravenclaw undertones
I was sorted into Ravenclaw on Pottermore. I definitely relate to the quirky, eccentric aspects a lot. I am definitely imaginative, good at creative pursuits and I definitely tend to question traditional thought categories. And Luna is my absolute favourite character. However I don't think I lack warmth haha, but I've been told I'm detached at times, guess I have my head in the clouds.
Luna is a character that has one of the biggest impacts on Harry as a person in the series, which goes to show how amazing she is for just being a kid. Dumbledore, Snape, Sirius and Harry's mother have deep impacts on who he becomes as a man and what he values, but it was a girl of his own age who dared to question and be different that expanded his understanding and tested the limits of his perceptions in new ways. That Harry was so willing to see things from Luna's viewpoint without judging her also says a lot about him, and shows the bit of Ravenclaw that drives him as a person. I think that's quite beautiful.
Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff are my fav houses and they can be similar when it comes to be nonjudgmental and accepting even the weirdest people to their house. I don't know if any of my friends are Ravenclaw but some of them sure seems like they fit in the house... From fellow Hufflepuff all love to all fellow Ravenclaws here 🐦💙
Hufflepuff was always my fave because I loved their Black and Yellow color scheme. But as a Ravenclaw I'm... still kinda bias? So yeah I'm in the same boat as you. The two underrated houses are best tbh.
I am a hufflepuff my secondary house is ravenclaw and it is true that both hufflepuffs and ravenclaws are very accepting a lot of my highschool friends are ravenclaws I know that because some of them either took the quiz or I guess they knew by the traits and they are all weird and so am I. I think a lot of ravenclaws are very different from other ravenclaws which is very cool to see how different people in the same house can be. I try not to have a favorite house but I do kinda lea towards hufflepuffs and ravenclaws because that is who I am and most of my friends fit into one of those houses but I don't think any house is the best because they are all great and unique
actually ravenclaw can be judgemental actually ravenclaw can be noble actually ravenclaw can be evil we are only pursuing knowledge even if need steal (like rowena daughter) then be it. if knowledge by reasearching that helping millions people, then be it
Haha! XD My first guess to that question was, "the human skin? a person gets super dry after swimming for a while and think of how dry your hands get afterwards if you wash them a lot!"
Ravenclaws don’t care how they seem on the outside, they usually seem much weirder and more crazy than they actually are. You might think Luna is an oddball, but no one can ever tell what is going on inside her mind. I would like to think that Luna knows people perceive her as weird, but she doesn’t do anything to let others know. All she cares about is who she is on the inside and doesn’t go out of her way to show others. She just does not care what they think or see her as.
This one time, I was doing some weird things And when my friend asked my why I was doing it, I said “The real question is, why aren’t you trying it too? It’s easy to just dismiss someone’s antics as crazy and stay away, but maybe you should just try to understand why they’re doing the things they do and try them out too.” And she just looked at me like “Who are you?”
I'm Slytherin with Ravenclaw undertones. I value knowledge and individuality a lot, but I also value ambition and achievement. I think that Slytherins and Ravenclaw are prone to understand each other quite easily, since one values ambition, and you need inteligence and creativity to accomplish your goals. Also, Ravenclaws are most of the time understanding people, and Slytherins are complex and more honest about their dark side. Doesn't mean that we like to be bad, just that we aknowledge the dark aspect of every individual and ourselves, and sometimes we can use that darkness in a possitive way. More productive way (sometimes, right? sometimes works, sometimes it doesn't 🤷♀️) And I kinda ship these houses together(? 🐍💚🦅💙
@@Simpson17866 hey! I also have a Ravenclaw friend, and we share a common ground in terms of understanding each other and creativity (she studies music, and I'm studing writing). Though both paths differ, we share our same passion for creating art, and sharing our insecurities about the type of life we chose LOL😅. The only thing that we differ, is in our way to describe "happiness". For her, happiness is a permanent state of calmness and stability. She has a more spiritual and philosofical way to see life in general. Whereas for me, having a goal and achieving it, would be the definition of happiness. And that not only involves the materialistic side, but also relationships as well. Though for me is not that important, it is essential to not end up crazy, since we are social living beings by default. And because being sociable and having contacts is also useful, especially if you are in the field of arts and creativity, hahaha. We both agree in this one.
@@Simpson17866 *cringy stuff lulz.* At least I'm self-aware 😅👌. I just started to write a fanfic (of a Disney movie) because... IDK, I had the urge to write a fic (for the first time... ever), so I put aside my own project for a little bit. But my own story is something I've been planning for many years, is just that I started taking it seriously until two years ago. Anyway, I think my story would go around science fiction and fantasy at the same time. As far as I know, that genre is called "Science Fantasy". But hey, it's an embryo in gestation, I'm just beginning to know it myself. I have to give my own laws and magic system to make it consistent, and not disastrous or deux ex machina-like. And study everything, basically. Mainly history and different cultures :'v *Why do you want to write, anyways? I'm curious :3* In my case, I like to express my thoughts, to provide a different perspective that was presented in something that was shown to me, like a movie or book. Sometimes I don't feel satisfied with the answers that a story presented me, and I want to explore similar (or different) themes, but with other perspectives and/or courses of action. And also because I'm so passionate about the complexity of our human mind. Why do we call something "inhumane" to describe a horrible thing that a human does? Why is our morality so flexible and rigid when it comes to certain individuals? Is God really good? Is Lucifer all evil? Do we even know who we are, or what we are capable of doing in some specific dark situations? Those are questions that makes me feel helpless for not having a definitive answer, but passionate to continue exploring. A week ago, more or less, I saw Fantastic Beasts 2 and... I didn't like it. The movie in general was _Meh_ But something very particular inside the film was what made me very angry towards it. 1) Leta's fate, and 2) Dumbledore's actions (or lack of them). I won't spoil anything, but I'll extend myself if you want or already saw the movie 😊 Sorry for writing a big-ass fucking essay to answer a basic question... I can't help myself 😓
I'm also a Slytherin with Ravenclaw undertones. While I appreciate knowledge for its own sake, I prefer knowledge that can be applied to further my own goals. But I value what Ravenclaws have to offer, and I think they make good partners, providing an alternate perspective that can cover my blindspots and give me options that otherwise might not occur to me. Gryffindors and Hufflepuffs also bring value to the table, but I find the quirky nature of Ravenclaw to be very appealing. I would prefer a relationship with a Ravenclaw to any other...a relationship with a fellow Slytherin would be dominated by the power dynamic. Gryffindors are, well, a bit insufferable and way too stubborn and headstrong about doing what's right for the sake of doing what's right, while I prefer pragmatism. Hufflepuffs are fine people, too, and the smarter ones would also be appealing. A Ravenclaw would be fun to be around, spark my intellect, but wouldn't try to challenge me (in the sense of being a rival, again, something I would always have in the back of my mind with another Slytherin).
Oddballs and weirdos are some of the smartest people take Einstein for example he was a weirdo but he was very smart. Some things we know about science come from people whose ideas were first not believed by anyone and they thought they were weird and crazy but it is what was actually right and I think that is why most Ravenclaw are a little weird and eccentric
I really love how analytical this is and it has reminded me of my methods to my madness and has reminded me of my rebellious and unconventional ways of thinking. I have been taught through some savage means to be a conformist. And I feel that a lot of my thoughts have been undermined and underappreciated. I had a zest and thirst for knowledge but I was shunned and scorned and my ways of thinking were forced to be changed. I took these ways of thinking and plugged them into the sorting hat and I came out as a Griffondor. And once a Slytherin. Perhaps it is time that I say to hell with those horrible people and go back to my oldish ways of thinking.
I’m a Ravenclaw with Hufflepuff undertones. I value in always learning whatever technicalities and ideas there are, especially with music, and try to put a new, creative spin on them into my own work and compositions. But I also value hard work, being down to earth, and loyalty with my peers and surroundings. 💙💛🦅🦡
I learned somewhere that wit during Shakespear's time was a slang for penis. Gives a whole new meaning to Wit beyond measure is world's greatest treasure. It's also very much a Ravenclaw thing to do ;)
Actually, Hermione was a Hatstall. She was Sorted into Gryffindor only because she chose to be. But I agree with most of your points. I think another classic Ravenclaw quality is appreciating different types of intelligence, from being original and imaginative to being logical and...well, Hermione-ish. Intelligence can't be defined so easily; different people look at it through different lenses, depending on the qualities they value. This can include both people like Hermione and Luna. Which is probably why Ravenclaw houses all the characters who're smart in their own ways, even if they aren't regarded as intelligent at the first glance. Trelawney, though...I think she was added to Ravenclaw to re-emphasize one of HP's main themes: your house, your bloodline, or any one cookie-cutter category does not define who you are. Trelawney, according to JKR, wasn't very skilled, but regarded herself as God's gift to mankind. Despite the fact that she did spout out the occasional prophecy. Sort of like Crabbe in Slytherin (like, ambitious or cunning wouldn't be the first traits that'd come to your mind when you think of Crabbe, right? He's more of a supportive person.) or Wormtail in Gryffindor, for he wasn't...exactly...the bravest. Personally, I love Luna!
You're forgetting one of the greatest Ravenclaws of all- Sherlock Holmes- in all his incarnations (this includes House, of course) and probably Tony Stark as well.
Sherlock Holmes and Tony stark would probably be slytherin. They are rather cold and strategic but have a narcissistic side which shows the slytherins pride. You can watch the same video format for slytherins.
@@sophia8105. being narcissistic and strategic is not a trait that ONLY slytherins have though?? I'm a ravenclaw and I have both of these traits lmao the reason these two are ravenclaw is because they think out of the box, people think they're madmans because they don't think like normal people and that's exactly what the definition of a ravenclaw is.
@@sophia8105. You do know that each house has someone cold, strategic, and narcissistic right? I somewhat agree of your speculation of Sherlock and Tony being Slytherins, though they have a lot of Ravenclaw qualities as well. But we have to remember that stereotypes are meant to be broken.
Thank you ScreenPrism. We finally have a Ravenclaw video! This is another great analysis. If the world needs more Hufflepuffs, it also needs more Ravenclaws. We are facing a crisis in critical thinking and problem solving skills especially in our youths. The world needs more original and creative thinkers.
Genius is far too often described as just "being smart" but that's not what genius, and Ravenclaw, really are. Genius, instead, is about being able to look at things from all different angles, and in ways nobody else has before. It's always been my belief this is what JK Rowling was writing about when she spoke of Ravenclaw. It's the house for those who think without boundaries, those for whom knowledge is an end in and of itself.
Ravenclaws understand deeper meanings that other people would laugh at. Ravenclaws are not afraid of showing interest and putting more thought into things. Ravenclaws are extremely intelligent in a unique way. They think I’m abstract ways that are not possible for other’s. Ravenclaws are hard to understand and often misunderstood.
Lots of countries have eagles as their national bird. Including Germany and Mexico both the golden eagle which is more likely what the Ravenclaw eagle is as it is always shown as brown.
The maesters in GoT are more rigid and learned, like Hermione, whereas Sam seems more of an independent (if not quirky) student like Luna. So wouldn't he be more of a Ravenclaw than the maesters?
I always think of Ravenclaw as the science and arts house, which means there would be a lot of brilliant and fascinating people sorted there just based on the qualities and values it has. You really can't be ordinary in Ravenclaw; you either already are individualistic, or you become so through osmosis!
3:08 Those six: Luna, Cho, Gilderoy, The Grey Lady, Prof.s Trelawney and Quirrel -- I notice that they are very far apart on my own scale of characterization. And yet, while I did my utmost to get into Slytherin, guess where Pottermore sorted me. PS: "Outside the Box" is very relative. I get ascribed this sometimes, and my only reaction is: Well, it's perfectly within *my own* box.
I think the assistant guy Gus hired to replace Walter White would be a better example than Walter himself. He truly only cared about the knowledge/craft and was both odd/eccentric and rather innocent.
Walter White is Slytherin. Slytherin isn't bad it just lacks morals to it's intelligence and is willing to go the distance no matter the cost to themselves or those around them. Agreed Gale is more Ravenclaw than Walter.
Gus was a Slytherin. He was ambitious, focused, calculating, and cunning. He played the long game. The whole time he was really aiming to get his revenge against the cartel, but in the meantime while he worked towards his real goal, he turned the drug trade into a very lucrative business for himself. He treated it like a soulless corporation and was extremely efficient, not caring who died in his climb up the ranks. He was all about the ends justifying the means, and for him the beginning, middle and end all revolved around murder. He wanted his old enemies to die, even after he succeeded in becoming a big shot in the drug trade. This guy was a cold and calculating Slytherin through and through.
Agreed Walt may have been very intelligent and brilliant but he was also really egotistical and too sure of himself for his own good. Plus he had so much pride in his own genius and success that he didn't seem to either realize or care about all the harm he was causing, yet alone how many people he had killed so long as he could make a profit. In fact he later becomes a sociopath who doesn't hesitate to eliminate anyone that gets in his way. If you ask me he was very much a real life "You Know Who".
Hermione was a hat strall, she was just as close to being a ravenclaw as Harry was to slyterin, it wasn’t that she wasn’t ravenclaw enough, she was just more griffindor. And as a ravenclaw I really hate how her logical thinking is being put down here, while creativity is just as important, there are disciplines where hard evidence and cautiousness is really important, like when you are fighting a war that can change the fate of the whole world and you can’t afford to make any mistakes. Luna is definitely intelligent, but she wouldn’t be able to do what hermione does, which is making really quick and accurate judgement to make sure Harry doesn’t get killed. They are anti each other in a way that their skills are opposite, but they are both valuable. It seems ironic to celebrate open-mindedness and non-judgementalness by putting down a certain thinking style. And it’s not that divination was a pseudoscience, it’s that Trewalney isn’t good at it, even Harry felt that the subject improved when someone else took over. She gets bursts of talent from her great grandfather from time to time and made the few accurate predicts, but most of the time she can’t predict shit and is really just a con-artist. JK Rowling said so in a companion book, and explicitly said that Hermione was the one in the right in that situation
Exactly and let's not forget that Hermione values bravery more than knowledge. Ironically every person I know that gets sorted into ravenclaw is more like Hermione and less like Luna. I am the only ravenclaw like Luna I know
I couldn't agree more. Most of the Ravenclaws I know are not oddballs or eccentric. They are usually quite like Hermione: wants to get good grades, wants to learn, but are not very known for their outside-the-box thought. They can even be competitive. People that think Ravenclaws are only the "eccentric" ones would sort them into Slytherin, even if they display these qualities because they want to be smart. Wanting to gain knowledge can also be in a conventional way. Think of Rory Gilmore, Amy Santiago and Lisa Simpson, they are Ravenclaws too!
Trewalney is underrated, if you look closesly at what she predicted in the books and twist her vision on what she says a bit. You notice that everything she says comes true in some way, even if you have to wait a while to see it.
Gabriel you're forgetting one thing. their reasons for wanting to learn. hermonie wanted to learn because of the validation she seeked from teachers/peers. ravenclaws wanted to learn because theyre curiosity.
Hermiones high intellect saved Harry and Rons lifes on a daily basis. Especially, in the books. Also Hermione was always right (or almost) with all her theories but Harry never listened to her. She warned Harry about going to Godric Hollow, she warned Harry about going to the Ministery to rescue Sirus, through it could be a trap, she encouraged Harry to found Dumbeldores Army, she protected them all the time and did the best magic we witnessed from a student. She is a badass.
Gia Alvarado LOL! I seriously snorted when I read that. I guess like me you don't really like Hermione huh? Absolutely love Luna though. Favourite character.
I don't understand Ravenclaws who think silver is the right colour for Ravenclaw, I think Rowling has chosen the colours while doing research about them. The colours have a deeper meaning end connection to the houses. It is known Rowling liked to put hidden clues in her stories. She also used a lot of references to history in the names of her characters. So although one of our house traits is acceptance, we should not accept the change of colours and bird that easily.
I always thought I was a slytherin, since I'm 13 and don't get excellent grades or love studying. But then I realized, Hermione had these two traits, and she's not a ravenclaw! *I'm a ravenclaw because I like learning about what I'm interested in* : philosophy, psychology, etc., even if it's not taught at school. Then I try to write into a novel. My main motivation is finding answers (aka existential crisis), and I have inmersive daydreaming, which basically means I live long periods of time in my own world. Even though I'm gifted my classmates tend to think I'm stupid, which has led to bullying. But I like seeing the world differently, it's what makes me me. And it's what makes ravenclaws ravenclaws💙🦅.
I agree. And I'd pay to see the hat sort Sherlock. If it took longer than ten seconds, I think Sherlock would flip out and start ranting at the hat. "Come on, now, get on with it and decide already. I researched all the houses and their attributes after I got my letter and I have the most utility in Ravenclaw...which you should know by now, since it's already been ten seconds. And if I knew where I belonged right off, you'd think a magic hat would know it even faster. Which leads me to surmise that you're not very good at your job. Maybe I should sort everyone in your stead, and make faster work of this 'ceremony'?" And two things could happen after that: the hat sorts Sherlock into Ravenclaw just to get it over with and end his rambling, or it purposefully sorts him into Hufflepuff where he'll be in eternal hell surrounded by people who are so chipper and nonjudgemental about everything. ;-)
@@Bad_At_Parties Sherlock is a Ravenclaw with some *_serious_* Slytherin undertones. A character in the reverse position is Erik, the eponymous Phantom in The Phantom of the Opera, who is a Slytherin with Ravenclaw undertones. ;)
I was placed in Ravenclaw back when I played Pottermore, what I find interesting today is that the Hogwarts houses all have animal hunters for symbols, however, it's Ravenclaw that has the eagle. While the lion and the badger are fierce hunters they are limited to the land, although the snake can on land and even on water, it's the eagle can hunt on all three elements: air, land and water. In fact, the badger and the snake can be hunted by eagles, the Mexican coat of arms has an eagle catching a snake in its talons and beak, only the lion can rival the eagle in hunting, this is why heraldry featured lions and eagles the most.
Finally! I’ve been waiting for the Ravenclaw video. For a while I thought you weren’t going to do one. Ravenclaw imo is the most underrated and underused house. We’re the only house without a major protagonist or antagonist in the Potter world. Everybody else has at least one (Harry, Voldemort, the guy from the Fantastic Beasts series, etc). Thanks for the insight, though! This is the best analysis of Ravenclaw I’ve seen.
Newt is the guy from fantastic beast little upset that you did not know his name but it is okay. In the harry potter series before Fantastic Beast I think there were a bit more character in ravenclaw character than hufflepuff but not by much and about half of them were kinda bad guys. Right now ravenclaws do not have as much focus on them as hufflpuffs do right now they are very underated and get forgotten which is sad because it is a great house. Hufflepuffs used to be in almost the same position ravenclaws are in but we got a bunch of hate it does stink that you guys are forgotten because it is an amazing house that should be more known. It does kinda seem like ravenclaws have taken hufflpuffs place of what it used to be but I think all house should be appreciated and loved equally I think that is how it should be but sadly it's not

OH MY GOSH! FINALLY! I've been waiting forever for this!
Will y'all be doing a breakdown for the American Houses? With only two films to work from I'd understand putting it off for a bit.
You missed the fact that Bronze is the only one you have to make. Gold and Silver are elements, bronze is an alloy that required intelligence and work to acquire.
That's a really interesting point!
That's so creative that I am positive Rowling never thought of it.
OOF
You see, this is why I’m so glad to be apart of Ravenclaw.
We’re the whole lot xD, smart, creative, we are brave and cunning too so yeah
I think Fred and George Weasley would have been really good Ravenclaws. They are actually quite creative and inventive.
And how do you explain Cho?😄
Hermione was a hat stall between ravenclaw and griffindoor
Gryffindor: Learn to defeat evil.
Slytherin: Learn to get that job.
Hufflepuff: Learn to help your friends.
Ravenclaw: Learn.
learn to be different
Not entirely true... A proper slytherin would learn because knowledge is power... and inteligence without ambition, is a bird without wings.
@@Bucanero95 This is why Ravenclaws and Slytherins get along so well. XD

My though exactly
She might be looked as weird by ppl, who were born in the wizarding world, but now by muggleborn, who just found about there is actually magic

Yeee booiii🙌🙌
Hate me but here’s why hermione is not a ravenclaw but Luna is:
Hermione is book smart and has a very high IQ which allows for her to store a superb amount of information in her brain.
Wow, just wow.
You absolutely nailed it!
Why does this have so little likes?!
@@matchalechecause the video already stated that
Yes! 💙💙
it's a high temper btw (means easily angered)
Spot on, but you’re kind of playing into the misconception that people with high IQ’s are close-minded and/or uncreative. The trend actually points in the opposite direction.
Ravenclaws are truly the most underrated house
What about us Huffies
Stickman 036 You have a hufflepuff PLAYING a hufflepuff in fantastic beasts and where to find it.
Stickman 036 you guys are always asking that question thinking someone is gonna give you more. We love you Hufflepuffs but come off it
Ravenclaw is my favorite house ever!!
“Sometimes science is more art than science .” - Rick
So wise.
Harry Potter, Albus Severus Potter, Newt Scamander, now we need a Ravenclaw for a protagonist
Agree!
I feel like newt&tina's child is a good idea 😏
Yesssss!
Symbol Guy isnt Luna a protagonist for Ravenclaw?
Same here
No its just about being smart
@@MsAsh3070 That would not be Luna herself that disproves that that would be the bullies but also some other people other than Ravenclaws could have possibly gotten in an also Luna think it was nargals that stole her things and I don't remember if they ever said if it was bullies who stole her stuff
@@Josh-the-man You are kidding right because this video explains they are more than just smart because they are so much more. They are creative, open minded, and a bit eccentric. They value wisdom they are not born smart but they learn about what they are passionate about learning about
Yeesss finally some Ravenclaw appreciation :’)
I feel you, Ravenclaw is such an underappreciated house
I dont think Ravenclaws are that underappreciated yeet
i wish we'd get some ravenclaw oriented story or film...at this point all of the other three houses has their time to be the center of the show but not ravenclaw...
msk So true! I want to see Ravenclaw protagonists and storylines. It’s an underrated house. I think there’s so much to explore!
How the hell am I SMART?!?!"
And furthermore, beyond the label of "smart", no one actually THINKS about Ravenclaw.
OK."
Slytherin - "So what if the sky is blue? Why do I care?"
Hufflepuff - "The sky is blue!"
Ravenclaw - "Is it really blue? Why is that?"
OMG I literally had searched why the sky is blue 😂😂😂😂 Then I got the answer. But when I searched why water is wet? No answer 😳
I ask me What the fuck, why is it about the sky? so is it a form of "Why is that?"?
"What's 'blue' anyway?"
Because the atmosphere absorbs all wavelength of light with the exception of blue wavelengths that is reflected into our eyes. Also my response was the slytherin one **cries in confusion**
Omg I asked for the answer since I was 3, but no one answered. I finally found it

So the Ravenclaw house is filled with weird people. I guess Pottermore was right, I do belong in Ravenclaw.
Hey there, fellow kids!

Ravenclaw is the most underrated house. All of the other houses has main characters (Harry has his own movie. Draco, Snape and Voldemort are huge plot points. And Newt has a whole movie. Yes, we have many great characters in Ravenclaw, but none of them are really main plot points.)
And Hufflepuff house is also very underatted.
@@fowpanhq1766 I feel like that's getting better because of Newt. But Hufflepuffs traits are underrated and people should stop portraying them as weak.
@@fowpanhq1766 Hufflepuffs aren't underrated anymore, due to acceptance and Newt being main character of Fantastic Beasts.
I'm a Ravenclaw, so thank you! It is so true!
Me too, I often got lost in my own mind. This is one of the Ravenclaw’s trait.
Your friends must be real life assholes then.
" I was just sitting in the U-bend, thinking about death."
I felt that
Gryffindor: the house of the protagonist so you’re kinda supposed to like it
Slytherin: the house of the antagonists & villains so you’re kinda supposed to hate it
Hufflepuff: Cedric + Newt = the house of cinnamon rolls
Ravenclaw: the house of Luna. end of discussion. we all love Luna.
msk that kinda sound a bit... prejudice
@@jiminiesheart2134 that was the whole point
no wonder i love villains
I believe that ravenclaws aren’t supposed to be pigeonholed, not just Luna ( as much as I love her). Ravenclaws are not just represented by one person (apart from Rowena ravenclaw herself)
Tonks is in Hufflepuff too
I always liked to think of Ravenclaw as the scientific house, as in exploring, inventing, thinking outside the box and breaking new ground. It's not only book-smarts and studying, far from it. If there is something that catches your attention or an idea you just have to follow, homework can go screw itself.
It also lends itself well to creativity, I think. Wit is, of course, a creative skill.
@@liliebilie Wit really is a creative skill I agree with that or you could also say that to be creative you need some wit and knowledge both can work
Mae Mitchum Exactly! To actually use your creativity requires intelligence and to execute it properly requires knowledge.
Okay but the line “homework could screw itself” is iconic and I’d like to continue it.
“Homework can screw itself and maths can solve itself”
There are so many great Luna moments, my favorite of course her legendary Quidditch commentary.
Luna ended up being my favorite character in both the movies and the books.
@@trinaq i felt it soo hard when she said that....
Iconic.
I'd love to just sit back and have a cup of tea with flitwick. And Rowena. Definitely Rowena.
He was one of the few teachers who loved his job and loved to teach. And he was accessible.
Also, according to his profile too, when his students are sad or lonely, especially his Ravenclaw students, he actually charms cupcakes into making them dance in order to cheer them up
@@casyopeia he is an absolute dear daaaaaw
@@casyopeia And some Ravenclaws pretend to be upset just to see him do it.
another “dark” example of ravenclaw in fiction i’d say it’s hannibal (at least the TV show version). usually i see people putting him in slytherin, but when he was asked for his motives he just says “i was curious about what would happen”. i’d definitely say he has some serious slytherin undertones, but his core ideas are 100% ravenclaw.
Omg yes I love this show!
Thank you. I saw that they put him in Slytherin in that video, but I'm like Hannibal is Ravenclaw.
Hannibal and his quote about the best thing about a friendship is being understood always made me think he's a Ravenclaw.
A forsure Ravenclaw has to be King Bumi from Avatar: The Last Airbender, "Open your mind to the possibilities"
danamaniac66 I love this, even though Aang is an airbender (the Ravenclaw element), he learns to think outside the box from an earth bender.
Good one!!!
The others are kinda easy, Aang is a textbook Hufflepuff, Zuko is the complete embodiment of Gryffindor and Toph has very distinctive Slytherin vibes (probably with some Ravenclaw undertones? she tends to think outside the box a lot).
danamaniac66 I think Toph too but she might be more for Gryffindor, Soka would definitely be a Ravenclaw.
the neutral Jing!
Luna and Harry are so support and cute together)
Luna with Ginny is so cute, a cute friendship.

I’ve yet to see as much.
Sometimes, Ravenclaw doesn't always mean "intelligence, witty, learning" it can also mean creativity. I'm a ravenclaw and I'm basically half and intelligence, and half creativity.

Compering the views in each of the house’s videos form the channel, Ravenclaw is the one with the most views. Which is hilarious to me, because of course a ravenclaw is gonna be the one that would want to know more about their house and wouldn’t just say “cool” and move on lol
that's true! When Ravenclaws find something out that piques their interest, I think they'd want to know all about it
I noticed that too haha
As a Ravenclaw I want to thank you!
I feel like you’re exaggerating here.
When I saw Luna's Christmas party dress, my immediate thought was "It's a young Lady Gaga." That's where Luna gets it.
No wrong that's before lady gaga in truth.
Probably why she's my favorite character
Riddle
(The egg came first because there were other creatures that lay eggs.

2:24 Hermione was not placed in Ravenclaw because she VALUES bravery more than intelligence. Not because she doesn’t belong there
Exactly, she would be in Ravenclaw if she valued those qualities but she valued Gryffindor qualities
I'M IN RAVENCLAW. I am way happier about it now after watching this too. Pottermore sorted me there and I have my desktop background set as the Ravenclaw common room. I am very happy with my house. Garrick Ollivander is my favorite Ravenclaw.
Robin Williams would have been a Ravenclaw for sure.
I could see him being either ravenclaw or hufflepuff but he would probably be more ravenclaw because he was creative with his acting and his impressions and would sometimes do a bit of improve with his impressions. I thought hufflepuff because it seems that he works really hard because he is in so many movies
I could see him as a Hufflepuff, too.
Yes! His busking days prove he was independant and driven to do what he loved, or knew he was extremely good at. But he was conflicted and complex. Total Ravenclaw! It's a harsh house to be a part of 😭.
Bill The Butcher that’s so true. But sure with a hufflepuff undertone ❤️
Robin Williams is more Hufflepuff in my opinion.
Ravenclaw = high in trait openness. Willingness to learn and look at multiple paths to an answer.
This is why I am more Ravenclaw than Slytherin. I used to think I was a Slytherin but I remembered I thought of multiple paths instead of pushing myself for one goal.
TRAITOR.
That's true, they're known to accept eccentric or zany people into their house, and are arguably the most open minded of the four houses!
Well that’s what they’re supposed to be, but don’t forget Luna was bullied by her fellow housemates for being so odd.

ME TOO LMAOO
I really liked this video. While I love Gryffindor House (represent!), and I really admire Hufflepuffs, I think Ravenclaw is by far the most courageous house in the Harry Potter series actually. There is nothing more courageous than being yourself and opening your mind because sometimes opening your mind and being authentic can be the most risky things you can do.
That is deep and true
thank you for sharing that :)

You shouldn’t have been.

She probably should. Her reputation could collapse without her knowledge of it.
This one time, I was doing some weird things
And when my friend asked my why I was doing it, I said
“The real question is, why aren’t you trying it too? It’s easy to just dismiss someone’s antics as crazy and stay away, but maybe you should just try to understand why they’re doing the things they do and try them out too.”
And she just looked at me like
“Who are you?”

More productive way (sometimes, right? sometimes works, sometimes it doesn't 🤷♀️)
And I kinda ship these houses together(? 🐍💚🦅💙
Nice to meet you! I'm a primary-Ravenclaw with a lot of secondary Slytherin :)
@@AlasEtéreas I'm a (currently unpublished) writer too! :D
What do you write?
Mainly history and different cultures :'v
*Why do you want to write, anyways?
I won't spoil anything, but I'll extend myself if you want or already saw the movie 😊
Sorry for writing a big-ass fucking essay to answer a basic question...
Also finally Ravenclaw!!!
Conformists get nowhere in life.
I’m a Ravenclaw with Hufflepuff undertones. I value in always learning whatever technicalities and ideas there are, especially with music, and try to put a new, creative spin on them into my own work and compositions. But I also value hard work, being down to earth, and loyalty with my peers and surroundings.

I learned somewhere that wit during Shakespear's time was a slang for penis. Gives a whole new meaning to Wit beyond measure is world's greatest treasure. It's also very much a Ravenclaw thing to do ;)
Cool but what about us that don't have penises
It honestly is bro, ignore the slytherin pfp (ravenclaw incognito), but my house is amazing
BRUHUHUHUUUU
This channel deserves more subs than it has. Great content.
Luna Lovegood is the person that you can truly love. She is so underrated.
Where are my Ravenclaws at? 🔵🙆♂️🙆♀️🦅💙💙

Hermoine was almost a hatstall, the sorting hat did not take over 5 minutes to decide.
The Take - a Defense of Slytherin
YES! I always knew Pheebs and Shuri would be fellow Ravenclaws 💙
Thank you ScreenPrism. We finally have a Ravenclaw video! This is another great analysis.
If the world needs more Hufflepuffs, it also needs more Ravenclaws. We are facing a crisis in critical thinking and problem solving skills especially in our youths. The world needs more original and creative thinkers.
hello there now I feel bad for being a Slytherin ;-;
I’m not a fake slytherin, I took Pottermore :3
"Wit beyond measure/Is man's greatest treasure." Rowena Ravenclaw.
I would actually put walter white in slytherin, hes more cold and calculated than open and freeminded
Well, it certainly takes an open mind to keep Jesse on as your partner in crime. ;-)
Lots of countries have eagles as their national bird. Including Germany and Mexico both the golden eagle which is more likely what the Ravenclaw eagle is as it is always shown as brown.
And Russia
The maesters in GoT are more rigid and learned, like Hermione, whereas Sam seems more of an independent (if not quirky) student like Luna. So wouldn't he be more of a Ravenclaw than the maesters?
Who else here think luna is cool hahahaa
She is too pure.
😄🤚
Yes ravenclaw!, and Luna Lovegood is my favourite character. She helped me find the confidence in myself.
Christopher Herbert jajahaja
I love that David Bowie would be a Ravenclaw. A lot of people think he would be in Slytherin but he was more of an intellectual and creative person.
Suuuper open minded too!
I always think of Ravenclaw as the science and arts house, which means there would be a lot of brilliant and fascinating people sorted there just based on the qualities and values it has. You really can't be ordinary in Ravenclaw; you either already are individualistic, or you become so through osmosis!
As a Ravenclaw I’ve been wanting people to understand this for so long - I love these videos
Whenever I find new thing, I wanna learn as much as possible about it.

Those six: Luna, Cho, Gilderoy, The Grey Lady, Prof.s Trelawney and Quirrel -- I notice that they are very far apart on my own scale of characterization. And yet, while I did my utmost to get into Slytherin, guess where Pottermore sorted me.
PS: "Outside the Box" is very relative. I get ascribed this sometimes, and my only reaction is: Well, it's perfectly within *my own* box.
Restart and choose Slytherin
I think the assistant guy Gus hired to replace Walter White would be a better example than Walter himself. He truly only cared about the knowledge/craft and was both odd/eccentric and rather innocent.
Gale Bettiker and agreed
Danielle W
We‘re not talking about Gus, but the assistent Gus hired for Walter (Gale).
You’re certainly right about Gus though!
I feel like wiress and beetee in the hunger games would be in ravenclaw especially wiress
Destroyer D01 strong yes
Definitely
And I feel like Prim would be there too or maybe in Hufflepuff idk
Luna is my fav girl. She is so quirky, herself, and an amazing friend. Even if everyone thinks she is a bit different she is truly intelligent.
10:09 "When you know nothing matters, the universe is yours."
GENIUS!
Ravenclaw right here✋✋✋
It's these kinds of deep connections and creative thinking make me proud to be a Ravenclaw.
Luna is the anti Hermione. No wonder we all love her so much.
Yes, whereas Hermione is all about logic and practicality, Luna revels in creativity and "what ifs".
They are both great role models for everyone in different ways and also both are great characters
Gia Alvarado
LOL! I seriously snorted when I read that. I guess like me you don't really like Hermione huh? Absolutely love Luna though. Favourite character.
Hmm to each their own but I love both hermione and luna.
Why is Hermione so unpopular?
As long as we all agree that the film version of the Ravenclaw symbol/coat of arms is wrong that’s the main thing!
Good luck!
💛🖤💛🖤
OH MY GOD you are such a great INFJ
Thank you
Also i'd sort The Doctor in Ravenclaw. "books are the world's greatest weapons"
Maybe as an overarching general label. But each incarnation would exhibit different traits that might place them in other houses.
I just realized this video was published on my bday... and im a ravenclaw
THANK YOU INTERNET
BLESS WIFI
I think that Sherlock Holmes is a Ravenclaw
It depends on which version
Maybe I should sort everyone in your stead, and make faster work of this 'ceremony'?"
And two things could happen after that: the hat sorts Sherlock into Ravenclaw just to get it over with and end his rambling, or it purposefully sorts him into Hufflepuff where he'll be in eternal hell surrounded by people who are so chipper and nonjudgemental about everything. ;-)
@@Bad_At_Parties Sherlock is a Ravenclaw with some *_serious_* Slytherin undertones. A character in the reverse position is Erik, the eponymous Phantom in The Phantom of the Opera, who is a Slytherin with Ravenclaw undertones. ;)
I wouldn't disagree. He's definitely got an edge to him with some dastardly cunning and moments of selfishness.
No shit, Sherlock.
The more I research about Ravenclaw, the more I see why I was sorted here and I LOVE IT💙
I may not be a Ravenclaw, but I admire and love the ones mentioned here (Luna’s always a treat and Phoebe’s my favorite character on Friends).
It does kinda seem like ravenclaws have taken hufflpuffs place of what it used to be but I think all house should be appreciated and loved equally I think that is how it should be but sadly it's not
Finally! Thank you for making this was feeling a little left out.
As a Ravenclaw, I loved Luna. She was such a unique and deep thinking character.
