    Wow someone actually uploaded a video for this ups unit. It's about time. Now, I can better decide if I need this or not. The guy in this video is testing it on the new asus computer too. How convenient for me.

    CyberPower may be the way to go for me. I'm down to my last 2 APCs. I ran through 4 others when I was stationed in Guam... it's time to give another company a chance.
    Thanks for the video!

    Thanks guy, you have explained and answered most of my questions. I wish you would do a video on which items you suggest to plug in which side on the back. Except for the obvious

    Quick note: You don't need a pure sine wave UPS for _modern_ PSUs. That's mostly FUD perpetuated by UPS manufacturers. It was only an issue for a couple years' worth of models of PSUs when Active PFC first became a thing, but PSU manufacturers have quickly modified the APFC circuits to work with “modified sine wave.” Now, PSU manufacturers don't advertise modified sine wave compatibility and most will refuse to confirm it when asked, but it almost always works, so it's definitely worth giving it a shot, seeing how true sine wave UPSs are _significantly_ more expensive.
    Edit: With that said, modified sine wave UPSs are only good for switch mode power supplies (PCs, phone chargers, TVs…) and pure resistive loads (incandescent lightbulbs, hot plates, toasters…). Anything with a motor (power tools, hairdryer, space heater…) _may_ not run (and if it does run, will not run to spec), transformers (linear power supplies (like in high-end audio equipment), halogen lighting…) will run, but _may_ overheat, cheap LED bulbs with capacitive droppers will pass more current and may be damaged… Bottom line is, simulated sine wave UPSs are fine for your PC, but unless you know what you're doing, you should *only* use them for your PC.

    Thx for the video ! Made me realise that there's a software for this and test my battery capacity to see if i need to replace it and yes i do (only 5% battery when testing and 2 minutes runtime haha)

    What you might have stated that in order for the software to read anything from the CyberPower battery backup is to: 1st, connect the provided USB cable from the battery backup to the PC. Instructional videos should always include all steps, do not skip steps.

    For TESTing use a Power Strip; so when you turn the power off (Power Strip) the ground stays connected. And even if you are only using a laptop computer, do get an UPS for your modem and gigabit switch so you can survive power drop-offs. Have a UPS for my ADSL modem and the 8-port gigabit switch and another UPS for the desktop computer, 23" monitor and computer speakers so I can stay online for an hour plus. Also may add a digital backlit AM/FM clock radio (easy to read). Thank you for a great video.

    Thanks for the video. Is your UPS still alive and working?
    I'm currently in doubt between this and APC SMC1000. I really don't want to pay for SMC1000 - it seems unreasonably expensive, and lately the price in our local shops is going up by days, I'm not sure why (maybe everyone is buying SMC1000 for Christmas...). But after seeing some tear-downs and bad reports about CyberPower UPSes I'm reluctant to buy it. Unfortunately there are no any options in the middle between APC and CyberPower (actually there is Eaton, but unfortunately their UPSes are not silent).

    Nice video Chris. Why did you get a 600W instead of a larger model? Wouldn't you want to put your NAS, internet modem, and router on it as well?

    • @TechUploaded
      @TechUploaded  10 років тому

      Thanks Dave. I have one monitor, the computer, router, modem, HDHomeRun Prime and tuning adapter all hooked up to the UPS and had them running during my run time test. It's nice having them all hooked up so I don't have to wait for everything to come back online should the power just flicker which it tends to do in the summer months. A larger model would buy me more time but I'm just concerned with the computer safely shutting itself down more than anything. The NAS is in another room but I need to consider getting a smaller unit for that as well since having that powering down without warning opens up a world of possible issues.

      Tech Uploaded Chris, thanks for doing this review! I just purchased the same exact model (before I saw your review). I wasn't sure if it would have enough watts to run everything. I too will be plugging in a modem, router, led backlit monitor, computer and a NAS. We get those split second on and off power interruptions several times a month and I live in the lightning capitol of the world (Florida) we get storms everyday in the summer. We had an electrical storm the other day and the power went on and off 6 times during the storm! I decided I'd had enough and bought this UPS...

    • @oscardelta1257

      Dave...I have this same exact model and I have a desktop, 23 inch LED back-lit monitor, cable modem, Netgear router and a NAS plugged into it and it holds everything just fine.
      I lost power the other day three times during a lightning storm and it held just fine...
      Now I bet you're wondering if it would hold if the power stayed out for more then a second, right?
      I did a self-test on it with all of the above mentioned items plugged into it in order to find for myself if it would hold and it was showing something like I had 12 minutes of battery. I have it set to shut the PC down when there is 5 minutes of battery power left.
      I think there are a lot of variables involved when it comes to how much battery time someone may have available, it will depend largely on the type of PC system that someone has...For myself, I have a standard 300 watt power supply in my PC, if someone has a gaming system or some kind of super computer they built themselves that has a 700 watt or higher power supply then it might warrant going up to the next size. The price goes up substantially when you go up to the next size. I paid $134 which includes the sales tax for this model (Amazon is now charging sales tax), for the 810 watt which is the next size up it costs $169 (without adding the sales tax on) thats more than $35 for an extra 210 watts and you might get an extra 5 minutes of battery time. For 900 watts the cost is $200 (without adding the sales tax on), thats more than $66 for an extra 300 watts and you might get an extra 10 minutes of battery time.
      If your power is going to be out for more than 10 minutes its likely going to be out for longer than a 900 watt UPS is going to be able to supply power for anyways. Ideally these things are designed so that you can save your work and safely shutdown your computer. Anything other than that one would need a commercial UPS or a generator.

    Will plugging that into a surge protector cause any problems? I have a really good surge protector, but I think having a UPS would add extra protection.

    Seems like the ups is useless for a true custom pc (8700k/1800x and rx480/gtx 1070). A few minutes in idle...tad dissapointing. Was the ups fully charge or did i miss something?

    Hello, if i hook up a Xbox one s about 60watts and a monitor about 33 watts to the 1500VA/900 Watts version , how long will i be able to continuously game for on a single charge, or is there a better option for those

    • @alejandropinero8530
      @alejandropinero8530 7 років тому

      Those watt values you provided will not help you determine time whatsoever, but you are not doing any serious gaming on a battery from a standard UPS; Try to look up the devices Wh (Watt-hour) rating. This is how many watts per hour a device can consume and then look at the batteries (UPS in this case) Wh rating. Odds are they probably will not list it though.

    hello will this help cuz i got a air conditioner in my room and sometimes the lights dim will this cyberpower help my pc to still get clean power ? with ac and pc on

    • @TechUploaded
      @TechUploaded  8 років тому

      That's the idea and the reason I picked one up as well. When things like my home HVAC kick on or the washer / dryer, sometimes the lights dim every so slightly. I didn't like the idea that was going to my PC so I got the UPS. Since it has a battery, it helps to absorb any surges or slumps in power to keep the delivery clean. If it's a big dip in power in the house, I can actually hear the UPS make a clicking sound while it engages the battery momentarily. Pretty handy!

    • @jordansne
      @jordansne 8 років тому +3

      scanjett This price range of UPS's is designed so you can turn off and save your work properly, as well as protect from brownout like mentioned in the video, so I wouldn't say it's useless.
      Also you are going to have a hard time finding a UPS that can last hours that doesn't cost thousands of dollars.

      you can connect it to the cloud so that you get a notification when the power goes out. That will give you enough time to get home and take care of it. I see this video is old, so the cloud option may not have been available.
