This man was homeless as a child. Grew up on the streets . His father was in jail and mother abandoned him. His singing is self taught. He’s on America’s got talent now. I’m hoping he will win!

Dimash was trained Marcelito doesn't .there's a big difference.he trained himself by listening and singing in Karaoke.been on the street since a small kid stayed w/his father in prison when he was 2yrs.old while Dimash was born i'm sure in silver spoon.

He has the ability to switch his voice both soprano and tenor consistently throughout the entire duration of the song,which makes him a very unique artist.The smoothness and the flawlessness of his voice is just incredible and insane. And there are only few singers who can do that in the world, even gifted singers and artist cannot do it the way this gentleman does.Im proud here from the Philippines...
It's my understanding that Marcelito Pomoy taught himself this song by listening to and mimicking a recording. His performance is gorgeous considering that he requires a translator to carry on a conversation in English even though he understands it well but has trouble speaking it. He speaks the Philipino broken english, but being self taught is also singing in English, Italian and Chinese. Possible more by now. He grew up on the streets from age 7, and now is married and a father! His ambition serves him well in whatever he does!
To see the honest genuine reaction to this Beautiful singer and the song is Precious. I'm not teary eyed, you are.
The thing I find most amazing is that when he sings Celine's part he has a Canadian accent but when he sings the English parts sung by Andreas he sings them in English with an Italian accent. His spoken English is extremely basic and he speaks no Italian at all so he is obviously learning these vocal parts be ear and manages to detect every single facet of the original performers voices. That in itself is an extraordinary talent.

Just saying he sang two singers is an understatement. Most of women can't even come close to Celine's great voice and same goes with Andrea. He sang legendary male and female singers.
I love this clip of Marcelito in the radio station. It blew me away the first time I saw it and still does after countless watches. I love love love his voice.... all of them, lol. What a champ. He may as well be doing the dishes as he sings! What a natural, though I'm sure he trained long and hard. God Bless this guy. A heavenly rendition!

So many Italian people immigrated to Philippines especially in Manila, Cebu and Bohol during the Spanish colonization in Philippines back then. Italian language are not new to the Filipino people.
Not only he sings instead of two male and female people, but also he is singing in different languages. He is just amazing. I have watched his performance at least 50 times and I will be watching an other 500 times or more.
He has god given talent. His amazing the way he sang flawless and clear...his unique. Bless him. Self taught.

I've watched this more than 100 X, over the years and have never tired of it. I'm a HUGE Andrea Bocelli fan and have him paring with Sarah Brightman, "Time to say Goodbye". The first time I heard Marcelito Pomoy sing "The Prayer", I was blown away. I get goosebumps and teary-eyed every time I hear the song. Thanks for reviewing it 🙂

I absolutely love your reactions. Not many reactors are "taken aback" at the same moments that I am taken aback. You recognize so much more in these performers that some seem to let go by, without comment. I love that you're amazed by Marcelito, as he has now been on AGT doing the same song and WOW-ed America. I saw this Wish vocal about 8 months ago so I was not as surprised by the "duet" that the judges and audience seemed to be. Still, his performance on AGT, doing the same song, seemed to have been slightly a bit better on the show. I also love your reactions to Morissette Amon!! She's brilliant and I only wish she could find HER way to the American stage so Americans would recognize her incredible voice as well. Let's keep our fingers crossed!!! Thank you Ms. Schofield. Thanks for that wonderful reaction coming from a Vocal Coach like you, Nina! Marcelito is a one-in-a- million talent as he also sings Filipino songs in his normal melodious voice, some of which he composed himself. He also plays guitar, and he can be funny as a comedian with his keen sense of humour.
ironically, i watched that same video for the first time over 2 years ago and countless times since then and here a couple years later i clicked on your video because i still get the urge to watch it, and i like watching peoples faces when they hear him for the first time but for me even now every time i watch it again i always catch something new that i missed in all the previous times i watched it.

By now, you may have noticed that the Philippines has so many good singers, very talented singers, excellent singers, aye? Singers who really immerse themselves to the songs and showcase their vocal prowess and musicality like Gary Valenciano, Marcelito Pomoy, Morissette Amon to name but a few. We Filipinos, do not compare our singers for they are different in their own right. We appreciate our singers individually. Having said that, we want you to hear them first hand as a sweet and lovely Vocal Coach. Then we watch out for your facial expression, surprised, in awe, maybe even in disbelief. You've just watched to Marcelito's much older performance. His more recent and certainly more honed performance of this song is on AGT (America's Got Talent). You'll also be able to get a once in a life time dumbfounded look on Simon's face. Its hilarious.
To me, this one was better, you could hear how nervous he was on AGT and he wasn't holding his phrases as long as he does here. It was a little choppy to me. Still great, don't get me wrong, just not as great as this one.

We Filipinos love to express what we feel through singing and we do not care what people say, we just sing. This piece has done Marcelito is called "Doble Cara" popularized in over a national television and has consequently become a craze in singing contests even in office Christmas Parties. A singer usually a guy, wears 2 part costume (male and female) so he can switch sides depending on the character he portrays as he sing. You can check out his take on Con Ti Partiro and Beauty and the Beast in America's Got Talent. 😊 His duet with Morissette is also great.

Me personally found him on America's Got Talent when he performed this song and I had to close my eyes during his performance and opened my eyes and absolutely couldn't believe that it was actually one person doing this song he originally originated from Philippines and grew up as a orphan!

Marcelito has a back story...his Mother and siblings left him while his Dad was in jail...he lived on the streets for years, singing in times of stress. He saw the Philippines version of AGT and thought if he was on it his family might see him. He won the competition and during the finals his family was in the audience. He has not had any training vocally that I am aware of.
