  • This video will take you on the North Head Sanctuary walk in Sydney. North Head is one of the main headlands in Sydney and used to house military barracks and defence posts. The walk from North Head to Manly Beach is an 8km loop of medium difficulty with some steps and some of the best views in Sydney.

I started this walk at North Fort, where parking is easier and probably cheaper than in Manly. Either way, the views of Sydney Harbour and the coast are some of the best!

An amazing walk, I love that stone wall and the view through the hole in it. The cemetery has great views and some lovely native heath plants.

They did a really nice job creating this memorial. That's awesome that you got the place almost all to yourself! Are you allowed to take dogs in this area? It would be so lovely to do this walk with my pup.

Australians love their war memorials... As for the dogs, they may be allowed for some of the walk but they're usually not permitted in national parks

Thanks for that. It's a walk I have been meaning to do for a while now. Did you take the track past the shacks on the cliff?

I didn't see any shacks on the cliff... were they the kind built during the depression? I noticed that some of the cliff areas were fenced off and impossible to access. There's been an accident recently on Middle Head so maybe they are being very careful in managing access to dangerous areas...
