Dear Chris I appreciate that you do not regret or consider the EJ 89 a minor razor. Daily shave for 25 USD and work done. The 316 is material and nicer to see and to handle perhaps, but the basic EJ or Muhle D86 are evergreen, basics, for everybody👍👍🔝
Nice shave - Agree totally on technique, Milder shaver you just take more strokes (secondary passes) to get to the same result. Adding more water to my lather to match the photo's on your lather and my shaves have improved as the added water increases slickness. Stirling great stuff and totally agree on samples. Bought 9 samples of various scents that I am are great to go through. I would not have been able to buy such a wide range of scents in full tubs.
A nice comparison shave. I do not own a 316, since in my estimation it is too expensive, or not worth its price. I rather chose to buy the KARVE razor and I am glad I did, I love it. And keep in mind that you can buy a Rockwell 6S (including 3 plates) entirely of steel, not just a steel head with aluminium handle, for LESS than an EJ 316. Greetings, Patrick
Thanks Patrick. I like the EJ316 but you're right, it probably could be priced a little better. That said, it's handsome and it works quite well for me.
The first DE razor I bought was the EJ DE89L. It remains one of my favorite razors. Stirling Deep Blue Sea is one of my favorite shave soaps as well. Thanks for sharing the video, Chris!
I used Stirling on my shave tonight (Executive Man) and the matching balm. Phenomenal soap and the same can be said for the balm. Post shave my skin feels way softer and more soothed than with any other soap, balm I've tried. I have you to thank for making me aware of Stirling soap (as well as the Lancaster Shave Towel 😀👍🏼). There's not a heap of places that stock Stirling in the UK, but there are some.

Great comparison on the Edwin Jagger.. Last month I sold off a few of my DE for a new DE that I have on order. It's about an 8 week lead time on getting this razor and I am thinking I will have it end of September if I am lucky. With that said, the DE89 that I started this with is the only non vintage razor I now own. Over the last decade or so I have only picked this razor back up a handful of times and only keep it due to the fact it was my first DE razor. My thinking was I can grunt it out with this razor for a couple months. I have to say, I really have been enjoying the shaves and it will not be the chore to use I made it out to be. Great jabs at Chris and the Chief I have noticed the same things you mentioned.. I appreciated not being hit with a hammer about value VS perception blah.

Hi Chris, I recently bought the all stainless 3one6 as I heard the balance was better. I don't like them too head heavy. I shaved the same day I received it as I had about 3 days growth. I paired it with a blade I had never used before, the Super shave X blade. I got a super smooth shave and I was still smooth 16 hours later. So I love the 3one6. I also have the polished chrome handled DE89. I haven't used it for ages though. I hope you are well mate. Stay safe Sir! Dave.
That's awesome to hear Dave. I'm so glad you are enjoying your 3one6. Yea, it's kinda hard to use the DE89 once you have a 3one6:) Have a great day brother!
Hi Daniel, I bought the all stainless 3one6 and the weight and balance are much better. The coloured handles are nice but are high quality aluminium. I love the red one but wanted all stainless. Best wishes, Dave.
Hello Chris, so many good razors out there. I think that if you are a daily shaver, a mild shaver like a EJ89, Merkur 34c or a Muhle R89 will be perfect. If it's before passes it's just water. Just before the aftershave it's thayer's witch hazel.
Hello Chris, another good side by side vid. I would've preferred the 3one6 vs. the gamechanger 84 side by side comparison. Let me ask which one do find a smoother razor between the 3one6 and the gamechanger 84?! Thank you
I can't say to be honest. Both are very smooth for me.
@@IAMCDB ok thanks Chris👍
@@chrisspertos4849 You are most welcome sir.
My other issue with EJ razors is their high price relative to their competitors IMHO.
I can understand that.
How this razor compares with RR GC 68 & Lupo 72 SS
It's probably more akin to the Lupo 72. It's medium aggressive but a nice smooth shaver.
Hello big Dude, you can't sleep Master shave?? Great shave Man
I can't sleep, I have to answer to the shave.
@@IAMCDB Ok your Hobby plus Advertising I know
lol funny video. keep up the great work
Thanks Banocka.
You had me cracking up! 🤣
I was hoping people would take it that way:)
Hi Chris
Great Video 👍🏼💈haven’t tried many Stirling soaps have to save up and get best one by Stirling...
Let me know which ones you think it’s Best by Stirling...
Take care
Alan H
It's impossible for me to say which one is the best because scent is subjective. Executive Man is their best selling soap of all time.
IAMCDB
They all make outstanding products Stirling and will order something maybe executive man heard it’s great scent like Creed..
Take care
Alan H
@@alanh8101 it's a darned good one sir!
IAMCDB
I would like to ask you since you have more experience regarding wolf whiskers brush you have 3 of them and two are Plisson knots if I’m correct where do you get em or can Peter get it??
I have Yaqi black knight brush look like Plisson but not sure if Yaqi make Plisson quality tho?
Anyhow tell me your advice or maybe Peter have good knots too..
Alan H
@@alanh8101 you get on the waitlist at this site when it opens up: www.wolfwhiskers.com/
Does the 3one6 gives a shave as smooth as the Karve does? Thank you !
Both are very smooth shavers for me. The Karve offers more options so it's more versatile.
@@IAMCDB Thank you very much!
@@spyrosyannaras8953 My pleasure.
Yes, I was expecting more talk about the razors etc. not Jack and....
Sorry to disappoint.
They are both Great Guys as I seen Jack and Chief...very true and it’s funny and great 👍🏼👍🏼
Chief reminds me of some guy from Lockheed Martin who flew F117 and few Blackbirds every time I see him man I know this guy..lol
And I told Corey listen man I don’t like
to call you chief last time personally guy call me chief I called him ass I find that offensive to me at least lol..
Great chat 👍🏼
Alan H
Hahahah, thanks Alan. That's pretty funny.
IAMCDB
I took a picture of one of my Original Posters signed by SR-71 pilot check out imgur my name AlanH81 you’ll see it’s for Corey...
Great topic tho very funny and they are great guys with Humour

@@alanh8101 ahhhh, I see.
Yes sir!!!
Thanks you.
Funny I thought you were going to go another direction with this video: a cheaper razor vs a more expensive one...I was almost TrIgGeReD because Corey and I were just talking about how the DE89 is a good razor 🤣 Had some good laughs regarding our favorite synchronized swimmers
I still enjoy the DE89 for a shave now and then. It still gets the job done. I''d pick the 3One6 if I had to choose between the two but I still like both.
I had a good laugh as well ... but it was pretty provoking at the same time. The comment about the life stories and Jack pulling his shirt off .... hmmmm ... that had a bit of spice. Lets see if Corey and Jack are having fun with IAMCDB now.
@@aqtor They did do the life stories at roughly the same time:) It's all in good fun. I definitely deserve a good poking back:)
Great comparison video 👍 👍 Stirling for the win .😊 😊 Stay Safe and Mist On...........................💦💦🦑🦑
Thanks GSM!
what liquid is in the mister Chris?
At the end it's witch hazel. When I'm wetting my face it's just plain tap water.
316 is on my short list of future razors. Been watching you since the TSE days. Just started my own channel and would appreciate some feedback. Check out BrownBag Gentleman.
Thanks so much sir, I really appreciate it. I subbed.
Portland is a quirky place??? Maybe you meant to say a mostly peaceful place. 🤕
Could very well be. They market the city as being a little different though.
Those samples are all you need, you can try many scents, and their bar soaps are great also
They are excellent Jeff, I agree.
