She doesn't kill the daughters, and she doesn't want to, because they are still carying her genes. If you kill all your daughters you can't have grandchildren. She just wants her daughters, now that they are fully grown, to fend for themselves.

Unique names make animals easier to remember because they all look almost the same.
These meerkats have such complex social hierarchies, I learned that after watching nearly all the seasons of Meerkat Manor.
i saw a similar story in Meerkat Manor. In Meerkat families, only the alpha female is allowed to breed while the others don't. If a female in the clan is pregnant by someone outside the clan, she is treated as a challenger to the alpha female and is effectively driven out. If they are lucky to survive, they will start their own clan.
That or will aventually be welcomed back in to baby sit the pups for their mother. That is if they haven't formed a new group yet.

been binge watching Meerkat Manor. I’ve decided that Flower was chosen leader because of her viciousness. She was respected by all, not one other female ever tried to kill her pups, in fear of Flower’s revenge. Flower knew she was going to die when she sacrificed herself to the snake to save the family and the one pup that lived through the attack. It was her viciousness that made her Queen of the Khalahari. Mozart was dumb, too sweet, and didn’t follow orders, not vicious enough to rule, not even the Starkies. Flower evicted the dumb ones and kept her family strong. You have to be vicious enough to take on a cobra by yourself if you want a gang of over 40 while being pregnant 100% of the time.
But if the daughters she exiles are still genetically HER daughters, why would she banish them with a reason of allocating resources for her future daughters? Wouldn't having family that has already proven it can survive be a better advantage than an untested next generation?
Her daughters only carry 50% of her genes, which means any grandchildren will only carry 25% of her genes. Compared to the babies she's currently carrying, which are also 50%, the choice is clear from an evolutionary perspective.
But wouldn't that just put them in the some situation after her new daughters are born? If the mother keeps exiling her 50% daughters she might not ever even get 25% grandchildren at all.
I mean, if the daughters have a high chance of surviving after exile, then that makes sense since the mother's genes can be passed into different communities over wider areas. But from one perspective, it seems like having grandchildren (even if only 25% of you) where you can help them survive is beneficial.
I'm sure I'm missing some key elements here, but it just struck me as odd. Thanks for the input, though. :)

I think they only get banished for the time around the birth.
They have a weird system, where only the dominant female of the group gets to reproduce...the subordinate females stay ‚sterile‘ (don’t ask me, how that works, must be a hormonal thing). But sometimes someone else gets knocked up and then they try to kill each other’s babies. In any case, the pregnant alpha female would try to make sure, there are no ‚rivals‘ around at the time of the birth, to minimize the risk for the new babies.
Couple of days later the other females are allowed back and actually help raise the young.
It’s probably because food is so scarce...it’s more resourceful if there are only a couple babies each year and everyone pools their resources to help raise them, since they are all related anyway.
If they get pregnant or have pups while she still has little pups, then the might kill her pups to get more resources for their own pups, and she’s trying to avoid that.
