We went to Iceland the first week of November and left the day Grindavík was evacuated. If you use Streato (city bus), the ride into town is only kr1140 ($8 USD) one way. You can get an ‘expedition ticket (transfer)’ and ride for a couple of hours for free. The city bus system is fabulous and very good. Not only that, the buses take credit cards. We didn’t have to use any ISK for the entire time we were there.
@@NomadicWalkaton we did not really ‘evacuate’ … the end our week long vacation just happened to coincide with with the evacuation of Grindavík just hours later while flying back to the U. S.
Hi, which month you traveled to Reykjavik? I have a plan to visit Reykjavik in the start of August. How will be weather in the start of August. Can person go out without hat and gloves in August in Reykjavik?
Hi! I was there on June. There always a risk that you have to wear hat and / or gloves in Reykjavik, the weather is very unpredictable in the whole country:)
If you don't have much time the bus is a good option. We rented a car in Keflavik and it was 45 minutes to drive to Reykjavik where we started and ended our week visit. We explored a lot of the south coast in that time and the car was well worth it! Our Icelandic travel series is underway... feel free to have a look. ua-cam.com/video/DutNbuUR_Ro/v-deo.html
You can buy them either at the ticket machine/counter in the airport then the bus station is like 10 second walk. Else you can also buy them at on the buss.
Those are in Reykjavik. You can just rent a car directly from the airport, for as long or short you want to, forexample Blue car rental, drive to Reykjavik and leave the car to their station in the city as well. Cruises are from Reykjavik too.
Can't wait to visit Iceland!
Definetly worth it!!

do you need cash in Iceland? if so, where is the best place to exchange money besides the airport?
Iceland is cashless like everywhere, not sure where you can exchange money besides the airport. Most likely in Reykjavik City.
I am flying this month to reyjovic the taxi is good or tain or bus plse advise me
The buss is convenient and cheapest
Do we need to book the drop off ticket in advance for the shuttle bus at the bus terminal?

The same way, same buss but other direction
In my case it was bus stop 4 ( blue line) so I have to take again the mini bus and then normal bus right ?
