You Are one of the best, you know your stuff. I am 73 and I love to learn something all the time.
Keep putting in the work man, Your video editing, the builds and deliverance of knowledge is making this channel one of the best ones video by video!
Thank you man. Hopefully they keep getting better and better
I can't wait to see the independent suspension on the 670cc Yerf Dog!!!!!
Great Rant/Explanation of Horsepower vs Gear Ratio, I have a very rough time explaining that in the ATV World! So misunderstood by many, many people!
I get it all the time
Looking good. This build is going to be awesome. Love all the stuff you got planned for this one
Great video. Loved the editing the Will Ferrell insert and others. LOL I like the stance much better now it was a little to narrow before. Doing great buddy!!! Have a great day and God Bless
Awesome video brother! The 670 is looking sweet. My son and I are greatly looking forward to 670’s progress. Keep the videos coming.
Got more coming man
Your spot on when you talk about gear ratio an torque. I read some comments on yours an cars n cameras then think wow are they really that uneducated. Great vid once again and keep up the great work you doo 😁
Red beard don't worry about what people say because there's always going to be a few of them but I like the way you explain your project and I like cars and cams too and I've seen yall get together and race and thats great and it's all about having a good time ...keep doing what u do...
Killin it with that intro. I know u put some work into it. I personally like it and it's the second one like that. Keep it up
Well thanks man. Got a lot of videos coming out so stay tuned
LOL, I always get that too. " if you put a bigger engine on it you'll go faster, then I have to explain how bigger isn't faster" RPMs , ratio, tire size and weight dictates that.
I'm really liking this kart. I've been thinking about an independent rear on my ytm200 powered buggy. I'll be watching your videos to see how yours goes. Keep em coming!
You said it best you're off roading that's the difference between them and you...By the way great builds 👍👌
I LOVE THE YERF DOG SPIDERBOX VIDEOS!!! Keep up the AMAZING work!
The extended arms to house the bearings is an awesome idea brother . I need to replace the axle on that klipper sidewinder go kart I mentioned to you and wanted to go at least 48" on the live axle it's a single seater . man keep up the good info bud.👍👍 Dorito....out
Thanks for watching man
The 670 vids are great keep them up they are better than mini bikes or drift trkes
I threw a predator 420 into an EZGO TXT but was disappointed that I could not have reverse. I can not wait to see how you put reverse on this one maybe I could do the same. Love your content RBG.
Thanks for watching. We should be doing the reverse in just a few weeks
Better than a normal side by side man! Awesome!
Can’t wait for the next vid of this thing rippin it up!
nice, this rig is looking the goods now. little tip you always want your front end a little wider than the rear on an off road build, makes for way better cornering at speed and less chance of rollovers also, even more so when you go to IRS, also it might be worth taking those front arms and making some jigs to suit them while they are straight, just in case you ever bend them then you have the jig to remake from stronger material next time, I like to build lower arms from square tube myself, doesn't look as good but way stronger.
Yeah I need to pull them off and measure everything for future use. Thanks for the heads up
Thanks for the info on front to rear widths/geometry. I did a lot of research, you are 100% correct but you already knew that. I’m in the process of rebuilding my buggy and thankfully hadn’t ordered my axle yet.
all good, help where I can, I only mention this because my thinking was the other way around until many years of off road racing and building buggies to race this was pointed out to me and one of the biggest lessons I have taken on board to date in regards to buggy building. That and the ability to adjust camber on the rear with IRS will make all the difference.
The only thing I've found online about rear axle width is about road racing karts, not off-road karts. I can't find any specs on what changing the width does to steering. I understand the idea that a fixed axle going around a curve will make the outside tire have farther to travel, but what is the real world relevance? Is it simply by comparison that it makes corning harder? Or is it so much that you'll rip your steering wheel off trying to get it to turn? How can it be calculated?
very nice video guys. props on your build its going great
fantastic job young man...God bless and keep up the awesome work.
Take your spacers and hubs to a machine shop and let them mill out the spacers to fit your hubs. The further the spacers are away from the hubs, the more of a chance of breaking the Hub studs. Just a suggestion for you.
Yeah im going to just wanted to get it thrown together for a ride
I was thinking I could throw it on the lathe and mill out a groove!
That's a nice 670cc setup. I'm going to start loading some of my go kart builds this summer when if warms up. I have a 420cc still in the box that I'm waiting to put on my spiderbox. I installed a 212cc on mine and it will run 40mph but it lacks on hill climbing power. I think the 420cc will be the answer. You should do yourself a favor and buy you a plasma cutter. I cut all my tubing and plates with it. You can get a cut 50 plasma cutter on EBay for less than $200.
I have a good 50 amp plasma cutter just need the right plug in installed. Keep forgetting to pick on up at Lowes
Man it makes life a lot easier. It sure beats using a grinder. I got a piece of metal in my eye 👁 one time using a grinder so I use one as little as possible. I tied in to my 240 volt disconnect that goes to my outside A/C unit and ran me a plug.
Nice addition to the 670!! You should add some fenders, so that when you throw up a rock it does not hit you. I am eagerly awaiting the IRS!!!
Yeah I have some Fenders to put on it I need to get to installing them. IRS coming very soon
You should do a project using engine and transaxle from a front wheel drive vehicle mounting it in the rear making it a pusher instead of a puller something with a 4, 6, or 8 cyl would be so cool and really tear things up.
I have a 2.4L Honda engine right outside my garage thats 160hp lol
Love the videos!! I've been learning a lot from them.
I just got new studs for the hubs and used the nuts to space the wheels out on the front of one of mine
That kart looks wayyyy better
That yerfdog is a beast, mine is still all stock...lol
Literally had to pause it when I heard "something came in the mail today" haha
Lol
Red Beard's Garage but yea can't wait to see the new back end
Your going to need some bigger rear shocks for that beast. When I upgraded to a predator 420 the difference in weight from the five hp was so significant that the stock rear shocks shafts bent not to mention the angle was way off. I went with some yfz450 rear shocks on each side and raked them out to the perfect angle. It made the biggest difference, trust me when I tell you that ;)
Good video. I like your style of videos 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks for watching man
I loved thst bit about 8mins in through the video good break down
Sounded like church bells buddy when you drop the bearing on the sprocket Hah Hah Hah🥇 praise god, your a good guy👍
I know this is an older video, but I saw several instances where a small lathe would have helped. They are quite handy and not expensive when bought well used. God bless
“We are trained professionals” Lmao good work guys!
Great Video hope you had a great trip.
Its coming along nice red beard
Hey thank you for sharing your experience! I'm going to be buying a baja reaction 150cc
The plate on your motorcycle lift you removed is for taking rear tires off of motorcycles without having to remove fenders or jack the bike up dangerously high.
Also move your shocks out to the new bearring asnd that will also help from bending axles. The wider the axle the further apart the coilovers should be mounted.
Dude awsome love the new intro awsome music
Thanks man
Thanks ,I'm building a murry explorer that now is getting a endapendent front end and the rear axle is going from a 40" to a 48",I like how you extended the frame for support ,I'm going to do that myself, the 420cc predator hemi with the stage one should do the job with the wide stance on a single seat frame, thanks
Now that Fact tell it Red Beard
Nice Austin Powers move at 1:34
His locking collars have locking collars 😂
Well.... The time has arrived to start thinking about a small lathe and mill.
Yeah I want one pretty bad right now
Ayyyyyyyy love these vids red beard!
Love the updates
You should just take it to Napa and ask if they can mill the spacer like they do with the brake rotors
You should add fenders
Another great video. I was just wondering why you never use antiseize. It would make disassembly a lot easier
I have a tube in my tool box I just didn't think about it lol
Ummm, yes you are a genius on this stuff...
You should do a meet and greet in TN!!
I wan't to just wanting to get a little bigger
Dude, you look identical to a guy I worked with in the carpet mills named Jason Hunter. Especially with you being in the Sweetwater area. I'm just below you in Cleveland. Anyway great video.
What is the dudes name? Just curious
love the upgrades but I have another perfect one for you gas tank upgrade to a generator tank you can go a lot further with it. I've done it myself from a 5 litter to a 25 litter tank and it looks like you will be able to make it fit there with a couple modifications
I have a guy that builds us custom tanks and we have a 2.5 gallon one for this engine. He can make any size tank you need
well that's not bad tho it's a good thing it wasn't bigger. I just seen the fire video have figured out what your doing with it yet
We actually gave the Yerfdog frame to some subscribers
hey red beard you should get a metal or plastic amo box for your battery clean it up a bit lol.
You guys need to get more performance parts for it
Yeah they just cost a fortune
Now it needs some itp mud lites , a roll cage, and a snorkle
love the vids. alot of fun.
This is exactly what I'm doing to the rear end of my Kandi 150gka. I have a 55 inch rear axle I'll be installing this weekend with 2 inch spacers on the front. How much has the wider rear end affected your steering? The only thing I've found online is about racing karts, not off road karts
thumbs up on this.no one on youtube has touched on this topic, sure it can make a difference, but are we talking 5% or 70% difference? can it break steering?
Good work MR
Hey Red Beard big fan, great video, just wondering where you plan on getting your parts when you do independent rear suspension on the 670, im building a 400cc off road kart right now and I want to do IRS but I'm having a hard time finding prefabbed parts, or anything close.
Go power sport has everything we will need
Love your vids
Thanks man
If i Was in charge of this project I would use 1-1/4 solid axle it would be better but a little bit of pain in the ass to swap bearing hangers and a bit more expensive to equip to do new hardware
Well this rear set up will be getting changed quit a bit soon
Red Beard's Garage when you put a Mikuni carburetors do you have to do any adjustment. anytime I get a little G-Force to side to side is sputters and shuts off I'm thinking it might be the way I have it I'm using the stock tank
Red Beard's Garage I must have missed that part
You should use 520 chain so it won't stretch so much
I want to just need to get some custom sprockets made
The 670 is my favorite kart build you do. I was wondering, when you move the swing arm to another kart do you think mounting it with a triangulated four link would make for better performance than the current two pivot point set up?
I will probably leave it a two and remount the shocks above the axle instead of in front of the axle
Put steel over the arms and plasma cut RBG on it
In first 5 comments! I'm really liking this build! Great content as always!
Lost some clearance with the 72 sprocket
Also you forgot the link to the EZ Outs, or Speed outs. Thanks!
Just added it to the tool section
front end is a beating water witg all that leverage
Yo i need 15" of that old axle to finish a project im a cheap ass send it my way ? Lol... Luv ur vids..
Thanks man. If you pay for shipping I will send it
Great ill def do that find out how much...
hey Gregg the front tire when you put the spacers on the front wheels, when you spun them look out of round. I wish you guys could get a laithe. Just sayin take care
Yeah we need a lathe pretty bad
With that torque monster motor and gearing like you have, might be time for a splined axle instead of a keyed one.
The standard axle should hold up fine for now. We are going to do a different set up soon on the rear end
@Red Beard's Garage ; I can't wait. You've inspired me to do some mods on my Manco Intruder and Murray Explorer.
well said on the gear ratios
Bro I can believe for your talent . You can make your own model street car .can you do this ?
the suspension link on the bottom a arms what are they made of? i seen similar ones on atvs but those snap easily with with small jumps
Are you talking about the front a arms?
yes
fab work looks soo good!
Good progress! Why don't you answer mower questions?
I haven't seen any
I just copied and pasted this from your last video. I'm about to starting a mower project can u offer any advice?
ken baker whatcha building out of it?
I have a similar setup with a 420 and I Shred-it the belt every time that I push the engine hard I'm in Colorado and trails over here then not easy what type of torque converter you are using ? I have a 30 series
I have a 40 but we are going to the new 780 series that go power sports is producing that can handle 55hp
I'm literally building the same kart with IRS and redoing the cage and a few other upgrades the only difference is I'm robbing the engine from a GSXR 600 for mine instead of using the predator
We are going to build a buggy later with a street bike engine just need to run up on a good deal
i would like to see some off road videos
Hi there wondering if you or anybody else has a video or link to installing a catch can on my Predator 212 Hemi mini bike?? thanks in advance love the videos!
I have one coming out next week sir
Red Beard's Garage thank you I'll be waiting I appreciate that.. love the videos keep it up
Anti seize is you friend,,use it, parts will come off easier.
+Red Beard's Garage / @Red Beard's Garage why couldn't you get those hub spacers machined to suit the hub centre?
I will but didn't have time for this video
When ru going to make a racing mower or a mud mower that would be cool then u could use the 708 predator then u would just need to use the push mower engine and the engine smaller than the 212 to have all the predator engines on stuff
I don't know yet. Probably not anytime soon
Red Beard's Garage ok I’d say when u do make a go kart style steering on it if ur going racing mower if ur doing a off road mower try to find a Murray or something with a c channel frame with strong steering
Whats your opinion on pillow (block) bearings for the axle??
I think they would work fine. We just always use the standard go kart bearings I think there stronger for off road go karts
cool man thanks...i got my son an old sunl 150 that i want to build up with him..
11:38
'Light Bulb' ding.
You need to pay a visit to Chris and let him machine your spacers to fit your hubs. In trade you could help him sort out the electrical issues he has with the GS500 buggy he built. I'd be willing to donate a coil as from the look of it he'll likely replace the motor before he solves the problem with the current one.
Well my brothers work has a machine shop that is just up the road so I will be getting them milled there. Chris lives a good 5 hours away.
That's cool. I keep thinking you are close to Knoxville when you're actually closer to Nashville.
HELP, I just picked up a Predator 708cc V Twin motor for $100 at the last HF parking lot sale. I bought it because... well because it's a $700 motor and it was only $100. It's for a riding lawnmower but I don't even have grass (Vegas baby!) so.... Any thought what I should do with this thing? Is it even feasible to try and rig this up to some sort of 4 wheeled toy?
Yeah you need to buy a 90 degree box off ebay. Google horizontal shaft engine to vertical shaft conversion
Perfect. Thanks.
Red Beard you didn't tell us about your deal of a engine! Shameful. Lol
You could always couple that motor to an outboard lower end unit and put it on a boat. Then change the size of the prop to something with the more aggressive pitch and have fun.
Did you have to raise the engine any for the chain. My 420 swap on my crossfire i put a 72 tooth on the axle was wonder how far away the 10 tooth sprocket needs to be so the chain is smooth. I might be just overthinking it
Awesome. Now what you should do is cut up the go kart and modify it to a golf kart. Put the rear end and front on a golf kart. Would look f#€ken sick. That's what I would do
he already built a hoveround for grandpa
Or what he should do is cut up a 4x4 quad and put it on that go kart.
Thats one of my dreams. Is make a 4x4 yerfdog go kart
Harder than it sounds. The rear is easy but modding the front on a buggy takes some figuring to get all the suspension geometry right. I found out the hard way it's easier to just build a frame from scratch.
You've got room for dual tires now.
Is a gasless MIG welder good for gokart and mini bike frames? Or do i need a better weld?
You can do just fine with gasless. Gas is always better though
Why not take the hub and wheel spacer to a machine shop? Should take them just minutes on a lathe to fit them to each other properly.
Im going to later just didn't have time in this video
Any advice on the CAPRI 1/2" impact your using would you recommend it and where did you get it ? Thanks in advance
I love it and I bought it on Amazon
Thank you, by the way you make the best how to videos. Keep up the good work, i enjoy the shows !
Great video what the wheels set up
Do you get your cut off wheels at harbor freight?...I did that once, it took the whole 4 pack to cut one tube...lol...is there a good place to order them from that you know of sir?
I won't speak for RBG, but my favorites are Pferd or Klingspor. For cutoff wheels you can buy pretty much anywhere, the Dewalt wheels sold at Lowes/Home Depot are way better than HF crap.
I buy cheap ones off amazon lol. I get 40 at a time
Are the rear wheel hubs the same as the fronts? Don’t see a link for those. Thank you in advance!
How much longer until the Coleman 125cc dirtbike
Hopefully another month
Instead of cutting it you should have grinding with a grinding wheel make it a smoother and they should have come out but in your case was already band it
