- The Zero Tolerance knives 0562CF is a Rick Hinderer designed pocketknife which is meant for hard use, built tough from great materials and with great fit and finish. It's got a few little issues, but on the whole, this is one of the best harder-use EDC folders on the market, and it's a master-course in knife design from Rick Hinderer.
The ZT 0562CF is just a gem, to the extent that I'm carrying it myself way more often than I thought I would. Great knife, and if you're interested, just do it.
Bought and customized an 0562CF and loved it so much...ended up giving it to my best friend, who just really liked it so much. Missed it for a while, then got a new one gifted to me for Christmas around 2 years later! Customized it to my perfection again. Love this knife!
"Give it away, Give it away, Give it away, now!" and it shall come back to you!
I'm so glad you finally did a review on this one. I love this knife, I just so happened to be carrying it today. Spot on review.
Just purchased this knife and it'll be here in a few days. I can't wait! Nick, thanks for the time and effort you put into your reviews. I had a few choices on which first high end knife I wanted to buy and your videos made that decision much easier for me. Thanks again and keep up the great work!
This is a strange comment, I am aware. But I find the noise your table makes when you put a knife down on it really satisfying, I miss the table.
I hope you watch some ASMR videos
Couldn't take it any longer, just ordered one. Love the reviews.
Same. 4 years later. Still 260 as well. I feel like I've cheated inflation.
Me to
Now what can we do to improve it?
I Bought this knife based on your recommendation Nick and I love, love, love it.
Stella knife
This knife is so nice, I bought it twice! I'm not a fan of pocket folders over 4oz, but this knife just disappears in any of my pockets. Both of mine are perfect in all regards. Thanks for bringing this to the attention of your UA-cam audience!
Never get tired of a Nick Shabazz video. I tip my hat to you sir.
Excellent knife, just purchased the knife and I'm very happy with it. Thanks for the review, very well done.
I have a few ZT’s and I like them a lot. Going to buy this based on your review! Keep up the good work 🗡
Hey Nick. I just pulled the trigger on the 0562CF based on your review. Thanks so much, I love it. It is a sweet piece of metal! I think my next is the 0452CF.
Bought the g10 version when this first came out , been carrying ,and using it ever since. I've beat the hell out of this thing ,take it apart , clean it up and it's still in great shape. Just got the cf version because I was afraid they were going to discontinue a knife that would be a disappointing thing to live without now. Great knife , I'm 64 and have wore out more expensive knives in half the time this one even shows wear. On to the TI version tomorrow.
Enjoy your reviews. Carry this blade everyday it’s a beautiful thing!
I have a fail safe way of judging knives: if my wife steals them from me, they are pretty damn good. She uses them hard for field work. So far she's liberated a Sage, a PM2, a Tolk, a ZT 0801, and the ZT 0562cf. The 562 is her favorite. As you can see, she costs me a lot of money...
Yea. I try...
Just don't cross her, "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned". You might wake up a little less of a man. We all remember the Alamo, but I say remember Bobbit! Brings new meaning to the skills in Woodcrafting, such as cutting a twig to a stump and plucking berries. Now excuse me why I thank the Lord my woman isn't into knives. :-)
@@terrybodenhorn3508 buy her a chinese replica for 20usd
I’d say that’s a good problem to have.
Sounds like one hell of a woman.
I agree in every way... I have a LOT of knives and to be honest every time somebody asks me what my "perfect" knife is... I pick this... Even out of my customs.. Not that I don't love other knives more.. This is just all around "flippin" perfect! Good show!
I honestly never thought I would see the day you find a next to perfect knife. Good stuff.
+Daniel VanDusen I've got a couple. The Slysz Bowie, Norseman, and Delica land pretty close.
Great review! Just bought one. Looking forward to unboxing it!
Hey Nick. I just received this knife in the mail today. It is only my second zt so not much experience with them. I have to say that this knife is mint! And I can't imagine a better fit and finish and action. Very impressed.
Nick!!! I did it! I got myself a ZT 0562CF! I figured there must be a good reason this zt won the 'Best American-Made Knife of the Year' award.
Negel Won how have you liked it so far?
It’s a great knife, the more you use it the better it gets
Absolutely love my 0562cf ...mine does have the 20cv steel though and anodized titanium back. Ergos are awesome, fits my hand great. Hell of a review. Keep it up.
Tim Burton your batman was the best!
Finally got around and ordered one, it’ll be delivered next Wednesday. Very excited to get the gem💎
Your 100% right Nick... the 0562cf is perfect in so many ways. I love this knife an have another one on the way.
It's honestly one of the best ZT's I've ever held. So nice.
Good review Nick:) very thorough as always.
Great Review on a GREAT KNIFE!...Well done Nick!
Thanks Nick, the Hinderer xm-18 is my holy grail knife and your review convinced me to pick up the 562cf instead saving me a couple hundred.
Did you ever get a xm-18? I have heard so many mixed reviews. It seems that the overwhelmingly majority of people agree that 0562 flips better than the xm-18 though.
One of the most underrated pocket knife on the planet in my opinion.
I'm just now getting around to watching the review for the ZT 0562, holy crap I'm 4 minutes in and I NEED this knife
This review, Nick, was a gem.
Love your work and how much like Timone you sound.
Ordered mine last night (Sunday) from Blade HQ. The 4-8 days I’m going to have to wait for it to get shipped here is going to be absolute AGONY!!! I’m seriously regretting not paying the extra $25 to get next day shipping because I NEED this in my life NOW!!
Fantastic review. Thanks Nick!
After having my all ti version for a couple months now, I agree with every one of your comments. I did replace the bearings with ceramic ones, but that was a preventive maintenance move, not a current problem of any kind. Mine does have the CPM 20CV steel, but for what I do, I`ll never notice the upgrade difference. It has done some deer cleaning, and from field to freezer it stayed sharp with no need to touch it up. I made some stakes for the hunting blind and used this to sharpen all of them. After sharpening the osage orange stakes it was still sharp, so I sure can`t complain about the quality of the blade steel. A little warm water and dish liquid, and it looked like new again after each use. Disassembly for cleaning was simple and it has re-centered perfectly. The 0562 will perform any task that I give it, and I will be proud to show it to anyone who might be interested. Can`t do any better than that! My EDC.
I bought one of these based on your review. Your right, it's an Awesome knife for 180.
Great review, as usual. If I could subscribe more than once to your channel I would. I really like your style.
So I went to look at some ZT knives today. Never before have I seen or held them in person. Well, I bought this one. Couldn't resist. Also now on my list are the 450CF and 452CF. Both excellent and I will get them, but the 562CF is the one I wanted NOW!
Mine is arriving today, and I'm excited. I like my PM2 but it's not very nice looking. I love the look of this knife and can't wait to carry it
Mine came today along with 0566 they both are beautiful set of knives the 0562 came with some gold stand- offs. I paid far less than wholesale. I have several ZTs all great knives.
For anyone wondering how this knife holds up over time, I can say that in to two and a half years that I've owned it, I've used and abused it, dropped it numerous times on concrete and from heights, it's never stopped being reliable and appealing. The clip finish is worn down in placed of contact from rubbing, some bolts got polished to a partial shine again I'm areas of contact, it is my edc knife after all, the knife has been contaminated with sand and dirt, then used extensively, it never failed. I only took it fully apart once to do a deep clean and lube and that's it. It's my all time favorite knife. If I had one bad thing to say about it, it's the fact that the blade reliably flies open if you drop it and that can be dangerous. So try not to drop it, it may bounce into you and you may get injured.
I just dropped mine on the floor after reading your comment and sure enough it popped right open. The more you know XD
I can confirm I dropped it twice and it popped open lol it hurt my soul
I'm still rocking this ZT, awesome knife.
@@zedxrom7867 still running smooth? Action good and blade centering still on point?
@@ZKPTK I've cleaned and lubed it several times, action is still good, still centered, still holds edge. I did notice that the ball bearings started to print into titanium inlays that they ride against. For a daily used knife that's dirty and lives in a mechanics pocket I'm not surprised, but it's not an issue yet. If it ever becomes an issue, I'll have a machine shop mill out seats and install shims for the bearings to ride against.
Great knife. The pocket clip bugged me too so I sanded and polished it to match the titanium.
I have had many many expensive knives on my life. Right now have a CRK on order. But this knife 0562cf is my favorite
Thanks for the review.
Going to get one now.
Hey Nick, really liked this review and frankly, I really like all your vids! I recently bought the 0562CF and I'm totally enamored with it! Did you sell this gem of a knife and if so, why?
Again, I really like the content you're creating, keep up the great work!
Kind regards from the Netherlands,
Jeroen
Excellent review of an awesome knife!
Nick how has the carbon fiber "held-up" near the inside-gimping where it looked like it could perhaps crack or chip......? THank-you for doing such a great job on the reviews....thank-you!!
Its 8/5/2022 and I received a 0562 ti yesterday. Nick, I really think you should re-visit this knife in a New review with the full Ti version. Its a good reminder of the excellence in American Knife making. Have a Blessed Day Sir
Finally pulled the trigger on this after a lot of debate. After watching your video on diminishing returns in the knife world this was a no-brainer. Was seconds from pulling the trigger on a Shiro Neon Zero at $550 and I nearly puked at the thought of having that much $ in one knife (I don’t have a lot of disposable income). Found this gem (0562ti) at $238 and it just feels like it’s at the top of the curve. Thanks for all you do to help me make these tough decisions (1st world problems).
I love the knife so much I have a Ti scale coming for it liner delete stonewashed just like the back of the knife can't wait one of ZT best knives
+Eldridge Young Oh, I like that idea. A full Ti 0562...
I have the ZT 0562 and the spydy PM2 and I didn't know which steel was better but I knew that I can get the ZT a lot sharper with my beginner sharpening skills. I carry the PM2 more often though because it's crazy lightweight. Even more so than the ZT
I do like this knife, and have one, but the only thing I don't like it that I don't have an issue with on any of my other ZT's is that detent ball.. it is a pain in the ass to close one handed, I have to start it where you are supposed to unlock it and then have to go all the way to the very back part of the unlock bar to get past that detent ball....but then again my 0452 has the opposite problem and comes flying down on my thumb cuticle on a fairly regular basis....haha anddddd i just saw you talk about it at 8:50...yes, it drives me crazy and almost ruins my fondling experience.
I get mine this monday!!!! I went to the store and i had no problem using the blade stop as a thumbstud it has to do with angle when you try to deploy it there is a sweet spot once you find it your thumb can easily flip it open at least that was my experience
Are the edges of the CF on yours smooth? Mine are pretty choppy and almost look like chips although you can't feel them. Not anything like my 0450cf or 0452cf, those two knives have awesome CF work
Are you gunna give a 2016 full collection update ?
Question to everyone here with a 0562CF in his or her hands: when you shake the knife slightly, can you hear something? Particularly - where the bearing is located? I can hear something rattling when I shake my knife. Is this normal?
Just got one. Love it !
I purchase this knife about a month ago very very happy with it. It seems to be breaking in now the blade will fall shut with a little shake but if I use a little centrifical Force to close it, the blade bouces open a little, not a big deal really just wondering if anybody else noticed that.
hey Nick you mentioned no flex on carbon fiber 0562 is there any flex on the 0452 cf
I liked this knife so much I ordered a second one. I think it is the smoothest flipper I have ever handled.
i ordered another for a present to my brother
I handled one in a store and im in love, should i sell my ultratech for it
Do I have to disassemble the knife to switch the pocket clip to the other side?
hey man i want this knife should i get the cf version or the regular version whats the difference and is it worth the extra 50$ please answer
Hey Nick, What do you think about the ZT566BWS vs ZT350? Can not decide which one to get
Nick, any update on that little guy after years? Im about to Get one soon. Great work on Channel! Cheers
Agree on the flipper being a bit too long. But main issue for me is when I grip the handle firmly, the split clip slips sideways onto the lockbar and stays there. Otherwise, great build, great ergos, great blade, and great action.
tighten the bolt of the clip it will not move
About to order one tomorrow. Adding a finger choil then if I love it, imma buy another to send to Josh from Razor Edge Knives for a wharnie reblade
Dose it make same closing noise as the TI Love the shutting noise
Has yours loosened up at the pivot? Mine hasn't yet, but the Apostle P says his does. Hope mine stays like it is.
Amazing that almost 6 years later, this knife is still street priced at 280.00!!!!!!!!! unheard off...Usually when I watch a review this old...the knives are at least 100 bucks more...I'm going to order it!
Hi Nick, how would sharpening go on an Edge pro apex for this blade grind? ApostleP mentioned issues in one of his videos. Any experience with this?
Alfred Thornfield the only issue I have is getting the last half inch of blade b4 the ricasso. Gotta re-position the knife and make sure you're matching your bevels. If you don't have a jewlers lupe, I'd get one for knives like this to make sure your edges are matching.
Nick! are you going to do a review of the full Titanium version of the 0562?
I own the 0562 full titanium..this the nicest ZT I own and it’s damn good..!
Can someone help me? This ZT 0562(G10 version) or the ZT 0630?
I've been waiting for this review for a while and you can't believe how happy I was to find out you had no uglys about it!
Though, like Luc Albert, mine started rattling and the blade became off centered, but that was because the pivot got loose, seeing as both ends can turn freely. I'd consider that an ugly, actually, since its a real pain in the neck to tighten if I've only got the one tool on hand and it really detracts from the reliability to me. Some lock-tite would probably end that problem though.
+FloatingCow I agree, non-secured pivots are an ugly thing. But it's so ubiquitous that if I start calling it ugly, everything is. It's a great knife, but I wish all manufacturers would do better on that front :(
Oh, looking around I found a suggestion for your Thrifty Thursday. Have you seen the Svord Peasant? It's a 10-15$ friction folder that I think would be an interesting thing to check out.
I've looked at the little guy. I don't care for friction folders with a large tang sticking out, so it never made it onto the list, but it's on my radar!
it does!
Perfect knife
Mine has a mirror edge love it
just got my new 562 what an amazing knife on your recommendation. If you like it id like it!
I really like it, and looked it up and currently have been EDCing the PM2 for 4 years now and it's been perfect for me. I like to mix it up once in a while and this looks good. But this version is like $230 on Amazon and I may have paid $130 for my PM2, and I do t know if I can justify the extra $100 that this costs over the PM2. But damn it, it's really nice looking!
+traderjoes Only you can answer that. The steel's a big upgrade, and there's a lot of joy there, but the PM2 is also one heck of a gem. If you're happy, stay happy.
Bought it. Love it. Better than my bros XM18. He thinks so too. Already dolled it up with Ti bronze ano hardware and pivot. Put a drop of loktite on the pivot, set it and forget it. No issues with it loosening up. This review is dead on. CF not as grippy as G10 but its dead sexy so it stays. Blade steel is second to none and razor sharp out the box. This is one blade that has a permanent home
I just took mine out of the safe. I tend to carry cheaper knives for EDC, but This knife feel like it was made for me. I have not had any pivot issues yet. Carbon fiber looks nice, but I think I prefer G10 with some grippy texture more.
I'm new to pocket knives and I only have a kershaw cryo now but I've been seriously thinking about picking this blade up, how much larger is it compared to the cryo?
Much larger! Look at the blade sizes and other stats on websites.
Are You from New York? If you are I can tell I forgot how fast I use to talk too! I do miss the east coast I'm from new york long island myself
love those deep carry clips!!!!
Im glad you did a review on this I'm thinking of getting another zt right now I carry a zt 0900 les george Im looking at two knives for another regular sized edc I'm thing this knife or the zt 801 ti new for 2017 I'm just stuck because I really love those heavy all titanium knives at the same time I want a steel slightly better than s35vn just for the experince I dont know your making it tough LOL! now I;m leaning more towards this knife just because of the steel, the depp carry clip and that beautiful carbon fiber ahhhhhh! LOL I'm losing it LOL
to allow the thumb stud i would do the mod of cutting thr CF flash with the metal frame
Looking to get one but What's the better steel for edge retention, s35vn, elmax, or the cpm20v version?
CPM20V by a country mile
These are very valuable reviews as just getting into the “nice knife” gig. Love the Nick reviews as he gives me a lot to think about. He shit all over my ZT 0770 that I bought yesterday but his findings are dead on. I just don’t consider his negatives truly negative for my uses with this knife. Agree to disagree😃. He also sounds like my New York CPA and not an accent I would equate with knives. A discerning PITA, but I’m very impressed with his mechanical acumen.
It's a beautiful thing. And thanks to USPS today, it is now mine.
What is better 204p or 20cv and I got mine today in 20cv for 229
it's a beautiful thing
How many mm does it lock up by please. I bought a ZT 0609 and it is terrible. 1mm OR A Half mm ! At most! Its so bad. Im returning it day 1. Its wrapped up to go. Are the bigger ZTs better
Question for you I bought a zero tolerance 0350 from a guy who didn't want it cause he rounded the tip. I put a point and sharpness back on it but it's not up to my likings. What are your thoughts. I see brand new ones with this perfect tip and that's what I want. I got it for 70 dollars what's my best option?
That's a damned good price. You might be able to send it back to ZT and they might be able to replace the blade? Can't hurt to try!
Nick do you have an issue trying to flip it but it's getting a squeeze from your hand on the lock bar. Feels like my finger wants to sit in an area that prevents it from flipping
I know you did the 0460 but can you review the 0462CF. The action on that makes my 0452cf look like an assisted kershaw 😆. Maybe that was a very bad exaggeration but it has in my opinion the closest thing to a full custom action in a production knife ive seen
Whats your experience with bearing wearing off titanium?
I don't know many people who doesn't like this knife. I have the M390 version and love it. Over time mine developed some rattle/blade play. When closed, if you shake it - you can hear the blade/detent rattle. It doesn't bother me but it's something I've never experienced before.
+Luc Albert None of that here, but go figure.
+Luc Albert Oooh, that. Yeah, there's a little tiny bit of that on mine. Not enough that it makes a noise, but the detent hole is a bit bigger than the ball, from the seems of it.
Don’t shake it! Lol
After two years of ownership of the ZT0562CF, I also find it to be a real keeper.
Ralph Desimone have u had any issues with the knife whatsoever? Any problems with the pivot screw coming loose?
Got to love this accent. Excellent points.
Hi nick - wanna acquire a 562 and probably a 452 from ZT- can you comment on the carbon fiber - I have a skyline with carbon fiber scales that is too slick. Hoping these are different. Thanks
I see you never got a response, so I can tell you that the carbon fiber on those two knives is indeed slick. If you really need a grippy 0562, get the one that comes in G10.
I agree with stormsigma: CF is quite slick. I have the ZT 0620CF and for a knife that's supposed to be for self defense (tanto blade and Emerson wave are not for slicing apples) I'd say it lacks traction. Not a big issue, but 10% more grippy would be better.
I ordered (thanks Nick!) a 0562 with G10 handle, that'll do the job.
Could you please compare 0562 with Spyderco Shaman? Since they're both in "pm2 killing" category and all in all kind of same idea brought to life?
Also, I've seen this review maybe 10 times already, and overall really love your reviews, good work!
I know 70'bucks was a steal. I don't know much about zt and there warranty policies. If they have one do you think they will help me out or no since I bought it used. Great condition though
So … how did the cf hold up? Any chipping?
Nick, love your videos, and trying to decide between: Benchmade 940 and this ZT 0562.. Thoughts?
Very different. 940 is much more compact and light, ZT is more beefy. Personally, this wins any day, but if you want smaller, the 940's the only choice
+Nick Shabazz thanks so much!
to complete the mod of finger choile i would continue the seration all along the top of the blade for thumb rest
great review as always! do you know if there is anything like this except smaller?
ZT 0563 ;)

How does these compare too spyderco? Ive wanted one bit they are quite a bit more expensive, is it justified?
