That's because they were still in love with each other, even though they were apart and not talking, that's why Pete came to his defense for everyone to see and after he did that, it did not take a genius to figure out how much he still cared/loved him, ( and also remember in an earlier episode Pete told Kao that he wanted to be in a place that he could be their for him, and during the time they were semi-broken up they both grew as individuals out of necessity, as often happens with couples)

I’ve seen one other BL that had an underwater kiss... but I can’t remember which series it was. I remember I even watched the behind the scenes cut for it! This is gonna drive me crazy now. I’ll come back here and comment if I figure it out lol. Or maybe someone else remembers and can remind me.

Kao telling his mom he was staying at Pete’s place as he ran out the door is actually so important. Both Kao and Pete have mentioned throughout the series that Kao doesn’t want to stay over at Pete’s house because he’s afraid his mom will get suspicious. He is finally out to his mom now and has nothing to worry about anymore and it’s so beautiful to see him so happy and free!
everything is coming full circle! in the first ep where kao runs to the swimming pool where pete was at, he was filled with (slight) worry, probably because he (might be) scared about pete's reaction if he's late. then, pete had to drag kao into the pool, and with them kissing under the water, because kao wasn't out yet and was not comfortable in his skin. (take what i said as you will)
then, at the last episode, kao runs to pete with happiness and excitement, knowing he has pete by his side, and pete's support means everything to him, especially when pete sacrificed his own image so that kao's would be cleared.
then, when he meets pete, he publicly declared his love to pete, even if he was scared about people knowing about it at first. and, he himself was the one who jumped into the pool without being dragged by pete.
then, they kiss above water, meaning that kao is comfortable with who he is and how the world perceives him, because he has pete. and when they kiss underwater, it means that kao and pete both feel secure in their relationship, and nothing can come between them, especially after what they just endured.
i might be reading a bit too deeply into this, and y'all should take what i say with a pinch of salt. but this is what i see, and how i interpreted it.

I'm a writing major, and I get you! For me, it's the kiss. I'm willing to overlook the fact that the writer had Kao run to find Pete after his epiphany (ahem, Bridget Jones Diary, Friends with Benefits, etc.) Forget that! The kiss is a cliche, too, but I can't ignore the fact that Kao is going all out this time. The kiss is more than just a gesture of love for Pete, but it is also his coming out (his mother acknowledged it finally), being at peace with himself (for being so conflicted everytime), and being not afraid anymore.

I'm so proud of Pete's overall character development throughout the whole journey of kiss , kiss me again and dbk. From an angry and impulsive delinquent to uber possessive and immature boyfriend to this mature , responsible , loving and understanding individual he is now. It's like we've truly watched a boy grow into a young man. We also watched Kao finally learning to be brave enough to open up about who he is. To love someone he loves without any hesitation. Both of these boys overcame obstacles created within and around them to be the best version of themselves with and for each other. And that is just so beautiful to me. Thank you for taking us through this amazing journey.

Every character here seemed pretty close to each other.From parents to gangs.Kaos mother to Kao,Pete,Jhunne,Thada,Sander and Mork,Rain,Sun and Manow . They have no pretensions .They act like its not in the script .
The story is not so dramatic as the title itself.But I like the way Kao throw his lines with Pete and the rest.Arguments of Sun and Mork.
The Gang is really so Damn Cool from Kiss the seres , Kiss Me Again up to Dark Blue Kiss. They continue their closeness and thats what this seres afe it so amazing and I keep watching it over and over . I think a hundred or more than a hundred times .

Because for training you will need bigger pool. At least 25 meters and you need to count the laps in 25 meters pool.
