One of the most beautiful British sitcoms ever. Longest running still?? Fills me with nostalgic calmness watching, tho unfortunately I don't watch often..amazing show, amazing cast, crew, locations.. if all of life could be so wonderfully serene.
God bless you Mr Bill ,compo,Owen you never got an award which would of been a full gone conclusion, but your award was given to all of us fans ,you were our award, and an award I'm so proud to be part of ,thank you so much for the tears of laughter, and the tears of sadness of not just your beautiful families loss but ours too ,your last screen, playing the last post was very emotional to watch, you will never be forgotten by me and your fantastic fans as well ,rest in peace compo,
When I first watched this I thought it was going to be very serious show, but after just 2 mins it was silly, beautiful and amazing, great actors, great episodes, love it so much, all the great actors who starred in this who are now in heaven rest in peace, 🙏🙏🙏🙏
USA here... I agree. The post-Compo episodes remind me of a later Three Stooges short without the original Curly. There are some seriously funny moments (ie the singing garden gnome) but there is still something missing...
RIP Bill Owen, Kathy Staff, Peter Sallis and Brian Wilde, and many more seems Keith Clifford, Brian Murphy, Mike Grady and Robert Fyfe who is now 95 are the only ones remaining, stars a lot younger than Fyfe who played Howard, have died.
Went to visit Holmfirth earlier this month where they'd filmed the show, and visited the church where Owen and Sallis now lay beside each other in peace.
Agreed! You might buy as many videos of the various years you can find. I did, and have most of them. I stopped buying the year following Compo's death. The show was fairly lame from that point on.
Brilliant thank you so much, I visited Holmfirth and Compo, s grave back in 2000, I hope to visit again sometime to pay my respects to Cleggy!. Best wishes. Gérard lacey in Ireland. X.
The good thing about your statement is, this was a timeless classic to all generations. Just a good old slapstick British comedy series which had no reason for anybody to moan about the content offending somebody. Glad you converted to it and glad you like it 😊👍
The writers said that if Bill Owen had died between series they may not have continued with it but as they were halfway through a series they decided to finish it and go from there. For me, with out Compo it was never the same.

I couldn't watch LOTSW for awhile when Bill Owen died. It took quite some time before I got over it.

I grew watching this. The characters and their lines bring back so many memories. I’m from the US and think of it as the best comedy ever filmed

I Loved Compo ❤
Miss you all dearly 😔. Those were the best of times.
I well remember hearing about Compo's demise - I was 29 and thought we will never see his like again. Very few of the cast are still alive now!
Only really Barry and Glenda from the true golden era regulars
He was a great actor
❤❤❤ .. RIP COMPO.. BILL owen
God bless and sleep tight Bill. We loved you then and we love you now.
Their deaths took the real backbone from the series. Foggy, Sid, Wesley, even Wally, who was Nora's hen-pecked husband.
It was very sad losing a great
