This is something I wished I had explored while building our cargo trailer conversation. We added a fresh water tank, 12v system, plumbing, fixtures, etc...... so much work to clean, sanitize, winterize. Definetly more work to maintain and honestly this Dometic system would have completed the mission while keeping it simple as possible.
Dometic has always seemed to push out quality products. No argument there.

Exactly why we didn’t go that route. Exactly.

Wow this is pretty cool. I'll have to check this out! Thank you for reviewing this. I am currently looking for an 'adventure' mobile for me to do 2-3 day overnights. This will be key. I was planning to use a jug like you initially showed.

Bit off topic but you mentioned Yeti coolers. I have been debating purchasing a Yeti 65 cooler as an upgrade from my current Igloo. In your opinion are Yetis worth the cost? I would wait for an REI sale or discount before buying.

By all means I wouldn’t buy one unless you can get some sort of discount on them, a Yeti is a great use for an REI 20% off coupon. I think Yeti’s are worth it if you follow some rules.
Rule number one, fill them/pack them deliberately. Meaning, I do yeti ice (those blue cooler pack things) in the bottom, a small layer of ice then whatever you are keeping cool, then more ice. If a yeti cooler is half full, it is no better than an igloo or other normal priced cooler.
Rule number 2, open them as little as you have to, and do it quickly.
If I do these two things I can keep ice for 7 to 10 days at the coast in the summer. We will literally open our Yeti 65 twice a day. Once to get the makings of breakfast, once to get the makings of dinner. But, you are going to say, the summer in the OBX, don’t you want cold drinks? Yes, that is what our little Yeti Roadie is for. All our beverages we want cold are in there. And I may add a bag of ice to it every couple of days. But it’s a small bag of ice.

I bought the same and I am really liking it. But, that's not the purpose of my comment. Every time I watch one of your videos you have your normal into and I always forget to all by the end, so, I'm remembering now lol. How do you load your kayak onto that tall roof? Do you already have a video demonstrating that?

By far the most common question I get (in the real world) is how I get the kayak up there. In the window below the video where there are links to all sorts of stuff, towards the top is a link to how I get the boat on the roof. Enjoy. It’s actually pretty easy.

I was originally going to do a self build myself, I was looking at the Euro equivalent to the Dodge Van you have over their. It is used as a base cab for a lot of Motorhomes pre Pandemic. Plus in Panel Van form it is wider than the Sprinter so I would be able to sleep transvers (only Just). I would have also chosen the longest version of the Van to enable me to get in a Bathroom.
Then we ended up buying on Old A class Motorhome. I have made changes to it to fit out needs, as We camp on a Beach for a fortnight every year and there are no facilities. So we Have Solar Panels on the roof that power all that we need. As we don't have a large draw, as we don't have a TV. I converted the TV cupboard to a rotating Pantry Cupboard using the TV Turntable that is on a Pull out. Also made up a 12v pump system that allowed me to fill up from a 40 litre water drum rather that having to move the Motorhome every time we needed to fill up the water tank.
I would still love to do a self build, as it is still an Itch that I still want to scratch. As I love a good project to get my teeth into. I have to tools and skills required to do a pretty good job, as I have worked with a Friend over the years when he needed a hand. There are some Stately Homes here in England that have things in I have made. The Company he used to Work for did the Display cases for Buckingham Palaces each year, which was one for the Royal Homes that they did work for. So I learnt a Lot from him over they years. I have another Friend that Builds Luxury Yacht Interiors that I could lean on if needed for fittings ideas.
I also like the idea of doing a simple build that doesn't need complicated wiring or plumbing to function. As when you have problems it is easier to trouble shoot. Having an Old A Class that does have the odd problem that is a pain to fix, as you have to remove lots of things to get to them. The simplest fix was our Water pump as it is just in a corner cupboard, that was bit off and new bit on. The Motorhome was cost us enough in the last year that I could have bought two Nigel Denis boats. the last one being we needed a Brand new Gearbox from Mercedes as some dumpling had put Break Fluid in the gearbox instead of Gearbox Oil. As our Van is based of a Mk 1 Sprinter with the Gearbox America refused to allow in. it looks like a Semi Automatic, but is a Manual Box wit a Hydraulic Selector that kind or works like an Automatic. I can see why now. Lovely when It works, a real pig when It doesn't
Great Video Brett, as I love to see things that others have used to build their Vans.

@@AdventureOtaku I keep dropping Hints to the Wife. I would even Happily build a Teardrop Trailer big enough to take both the Wife and I and our two dogs. I would have to fit roof bars to take my Kayak.
In fact that is a consideration if we ever change Motorhome, is being able to fit Solar and take upto three Kayaks on the roof like the Current one does.
Looking forward to Wednesday Wilderness Medicine video.
Do you like my New Profile Picture? It is of my 50th Birthday Cake from 4 weeks ago. My wife had one of her friend make me a Kayak inspired Cake. I have had the one with the Rabbit for about 8/9 years and fancied a change, as well as changing my profile name as I no long belong to any shooting groups now.
