Honestly the imperial guard campaign makes more sense to be the canon story then the ork campaign because of the fact that some space marines including Cyrus survived after the karuvua campaign was a disaster to them
And knowing orks wouldn't make slaves out of space marines because of them being indoctrinated to not yield easily so there's no way any of the blood raven space marines would 100% survive because of the orks wiping them out fully from top to bottom until there's non of them left

      I agree.
My head cannon is that Cyrus was able to get away to safety (something he didn’t really wanted to do) and later saved by the Imperial Guard. While Gorgutz had taken over Kaurava 2 and moved to Kaurava 3 where he learned of Acheron from the eldar ruins. After this he returned to Kaurava 2 to ready himself to go to Acheron the 252th arrives and destroys Gorgutz Waaagh so he’s forced to flee. With nothing left Gorgutz joins another clan and convinces the warboss to go to Cyprus Ultima for a great fight only to wait for Acheron to appear.

It used to be the canon. Until some pretentious DOW 3 scenario maker arrived, it's always the same story.

Orks , defy logic. So , them winning the wage of war , it makes sense.

@@MiguelJimenez-hc7ch Orks never usually win, so GW probably threw them a bone out of pity

I know there's no good guys in 40k but to me the 252nd Kauravan Conservators are the most justified
This is their home. The system they were born and raised in. They have families and friends alike living here with them. It is only right that they defend their home.
(now I guess the same can be said for the Necrons, sure, but to be fair those guys were asleep.)

I'd say this campaign was more of a story of Redemption for the 252nd. Prior to Stubb's arrival the Guard had been constantly failing to fully repel the forces of both the Orks & Chaos, and allowed more subtle threats like the Dark Eldar, Tau & the Necrons to grow in strength. And while they would initially gain the assistance of both the Blood Ravens & the Sisters of Battle, they showed little care or concern for the Guardsmen and were willing to throw local lives away for their own personal goals of obtaining relics or outright purging. With only the Eldar not really affecting the Guard at all due to their focus on stopping the awakening Necrons.
Alas, once Stubbs arrived and took command of the 252nd, he was able to shape them into a more formidable and competent fighting force that miraculously was able to fully save the sector while under the looming threat of a large Warp Storm and 8 opposing armies that would've ravaged the whole area if left to their own devices.
