Perfect Velvet is arguably one of the best albums in kpop for its sheer complexity, originality and musicality. The fun quirkiness of Peekaboo, the retro feel of Look, the unique beat of I Just, the epic feel of Kingdom come, the amazing bizarreness that is the duo of Second date and Attaboy, the chill sound of perfect 10, another retro cool song in about Love before ending with a timeless ballad in moonlight melody. Only Irene calling herself the original visual rivals the accuracy of the name of this album. I would highly recommend checking out all the remaining songs on it.
In my opinion, Red Velvet has the most beautiful discography out of girlgroups. I have been fans of SNSD, Girls Day, just so many groups and own so many albums. Red Velvet's discography is top tier.

Where Kingdom Come is so scintillating vocally, Perfect 10 does the same instrumentally (well tbf they do both). My recs if you haven’t checked them out yet are: -Light Me Up (omg this one! I just, a throwback sound for sure which is why I love it so much. Since you loved it too I wonder how you’d feel about other Hitchhiker produced songs like f(x)’s Zigzag, Butterfly and Kick which are just as you described straightforward, dynamic, moody and atmospheric. Kingdom come, I think I’m one of the few people who don’t care for this song at all 😂 Perfect 10, if baby making was a song. It’s one of my faves. Their vocals are so intimate, full of emotion, and sensual on this track. My B-side suggestions are So good from their RBB mini album, Cool hot sweet love from their The velvet mini album, and Mr E from their Summer magic mini album.

Little Little? or You Better Know? Or Zoo? You have a long way to go before Queendom. I'm here for every second of it. I'm a Superband fan, but I'm also a Joy-bias Reveluv. Red Velvet is my love. I completely agree with you about the production and the mixing. Red Velvet and Exo trade places with me for top group, all genres. On Perfect 10, I'm fairly certain that the sound you are hearing is a slow Eventide H3000 shimmer effect on the vocals, which is a combination pitch-shift, delay, and reverb. That's the first time I've heard it used on vocals for an entire song. It's a stunningly beautiful track. But get ready. SM Entertainment pays for songs and production for ALL the songs on a project. No filler. No "house production" tracks. All the tracks.
@@KpopPrince I've used a real Eventide H3000 on some projects about 20 years ago, but I never experimented with using it on vocals. I listened to Perfect 10 again, and I stick with my analysis. The pitch shifter in the shimmer effect tends to create harmonics that sound like a synth (because it is acting like an analog synth). The giveaway is the "rising" feeling, which the shimmer effect does very well. A similar effect is the key to the guitar sound for U2's The Edge.

So glad you're getting more into Red Velvet's discrography. Each song is so well-crafted by vocalists, composers, writers, and producers. Their music really is rich and super satisfying to listen to. Some of my fave tracks are from the "RBB" EP, which are Sassy Me, Taste, Butterflies and So Good.

One thing no one really comments on is the strength of character it takes for them to be able to sing as they do. Let me explain. They are 5 extraordinary lead vocalists (Each of them could/would be a main or lead vocalist in any group you put them in). Other people might be prima donnas wanting all the attention and being treated special. However, RV work with and support each other. They not only 'allow' but encourage each other to showcase their skills as well. Let's be honest, any other group with lesser talent would feel threatened by Wendy's vocal skills. (Some of my fellow reveloves joke that Wendy sings an entire opera to warm up before recording) Everything that you said, discussed, noted, and observed about these three songs are absolutely correct.
