People started saying "Nickelback sucks" because they're sheep with no brain, just following what other people say. MTV had a show where people were trying to be comedians. One of the comedians jokes (a dude who never made it) was about how he hates Nickelback and they suck. The promo and trailer for the show had this featured on it. So it went "viral" before things were going viral on the internet. Even some celebrities like Adam Sandler jumped in on it, said it live on TV. Other people followed suit...like I said, just like sheep.
The only people that hate Nickelback are mindless, sheep, following trendy, bullshit, or the ones that secretly love them, but are afraid of saying it in fear of being shamed by said moronic, trendy, following mindless sheep. They have one of the highest selling records of all time that literally went diamond…. That alone speaks for itself, they have some of the highest topping songs of all time. So all those people that shit on this band can suck it I’ve had so many people tell me ew you like them? Yeah actually I fucking do. I also love flesh god apocalypse, Carach Angren, Dominia, Draconian, Tim McGraw, various blues musicians and 80s bands. It’s called having your own opinion your own likes your own train of thought. I partially hated them thinking they only made songs for radio hits until I found out they played in pubs for ten years first and made at least 2 super heavy rock albums first - not radio friendly and after their success made a heavy rock album again a couple of years ago. Matchbox twenty also played in pubs for several years before having a hit sungle or album. So easy to judge quickly right ?

From what I understand they tried to get into the metal crowd and show up with those shows, but if they stayed in the alternative scene it would have gone over better.. however people obviously haven't heard Animals.

The decline in popular music started in the 1990s and by the 2000s the charts were dominated by trash and in 2020 there is nothing good at all. The same has happened to cinema. TV will go the same way as well.
