Born in 1953, so I grew up in the 60's. What a great time to be a kid. So many wonderful times and memories. There will never be a t ime like it again. Thanks for sharing.
I watch things like this I think Lord please take me home one more time. When I was younger I used to hear old people say I would like to go back home again and never knew what they meant till now.
I’m 18 right now I appreciate you reminding me to stay out on those late nights no matter how tired I am to experience life as much as I can before it’s gone and I’m sitting in my chair at 85 realizing how little time I have left
Hi Fred , thanks for all the great memories , . . 🥰 . . and laughter you've brought me in these dark times ! I remember that you told your audience that your dad passed away this month . . . 🥀 . . Please know that I'v thought of you and your family during this difficult time . . 💐 . . . I hope that letting you know that you're thought of may bring you some peace . . . 🕊️ . . May God bless you and your loved ones , and may he especially bring you joy and peace ! . . Merry Christmas . . 🎄. . Fred , and thanks again ! ! . . . ☺️
I was SO happy when my mother finally bought those colored ice cream cones! Ice cream, especially in cones, was a big, huge, delicious treat that I just _knew_ was going to taste even better if I could eat it out of a colored cone ... Ah, that Boston pencil sharpener, just like the one screwed onto our old 'desk' -- I can smell the shavings now.
Wow! I remember those days fondly. Compared to today, I was lucky and didn't know it. Today's adulthood is quite the challenge. But you got to make good new days to go along with the old ones..
I think your glasses still have a little too much rose tint on them, but I get where you're coming from. I think maybe WE were more innocent and simple , but that's how we're suppose to feel.
I think you might have forgotten Vietnam, race riots, war protests, the cold war, hippies, free love, "God is dead", drugs, presidential assinations, Cuban missile crisis...I could go on and on but I think you get the point.
David Hall - Or polio, which had been stopped due to vaccinations, but there were still a lot of polio survivors around. Polio was scary as hell! Most kids were spared the depressing and scary stuff adults were dealing with, but it crept into our lives a bit. Every little boy knew about Vietnam, nuclear weapons, famine abroad (“Eat your dinner! There are starving kids in China who would LOVE to have those vegetables!”), etc.
Yes a lotta shit was going on but, life was simple.Nowadays, every one you see on the streets is cruel, just awful,or a pedophile.Back then kids went outside, played actual games and explored the world but nowadays kids are spoiled brats. And entertainment was better too!Shows, movies, cartoons, comics, books, and so much more were better and not just shitty acting and special effects. What I’m Saying is things were going on but I think things are worse now.Sure yes all that stuff plus sexism and racism were common but I think are even MORE common. All I’m saying is With every generation shit will always be around but these times will always be golden.
Fred, I want to thank you HEARTILY for your show. I am only a couple years younger than you (1957) and about 95% of everything you cover, I recall, mostly fondly. You're best tho was the tribute to President Kennedy. I WISH I could donate to your patreon, however I wanted you to know how VERY MUCH you show is appreciated. Mark
Growing up in the 60's was last generation that grew up with traditional values . By the end of the decade it was over, since they world changed. I grew up watching Disney and Jackie Gleeson , Mad , mad mad world . Johnny Quest , James Bond, James West , Silver age comics , when Nuns wore a habit. When it was safe to go in the city . So much history in that decade too and glad that I and million other were there to witness it .
I have fond memories of just about everything you mentioned. Also a big Mad Mad World fan, Jonny Quest and silver age comics. Especially Marvel. I have a Jack Kirby dedicated channel called Kirby Continuum that you should check out, Dan. I'll bet you also loved drive-in movies and Famous Monster of Filmland magazine.
I did check into that Kirby Continuum site and was interested in the digital comics he posted though I still like holding the book than downloading on a computer but it is a lot cheaper . I do like your videos since I don't even know if they can pledge of allegiance anymore in school and had one of those Popeye punching bags . Nice memories . Thanks .
I run the Kirby Continuum as well, so there's no "he," just me. I also like holding the original comics, Dan. And the memories: I bought X-Men #1 off the rack as an 8-year-old in 1963. I'll never forget that.
These video's certainly take me back to very sweet, simplistic times of knowing nothing about the world in which we lived other than TV and music and the always dreaded school days. Thank you Fred for your video's. I Love them all !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You have given us all a time machine bringing us back to those special times of our youth. I especially identify with the old horror b movies that we all loved during that era.
Born in 1953. Actually, 1960's the best decade for me in many ways. Learned to backpack, judo, and also, 1969 double dating and sneaking into the drive-in with the girlfriend in the trunk. What a great time. I have thousands of hours of memories. When the B & W TV broke, oh well. Dad will take it apart on his day off and until then, enjoy the outdoors.
66 here thanks for the trip down memory lane! Had so much fun with the frisbre and super ball back in the day and Raquel Welch in Fantastic Voyage! Keeping up the good work.
Being a child in the sixties was so much better than now. At least we didn't have to worry about mass shootings, but just student walk outs over were kids smoke cigarettes in highschool. It seems so long ago. But we tried to work it out with each other. Now many people don't believe in diplomacy, and it's never surrender. I wish we could teach more people to work for a better soulution. Thanks from this old flower child! PEACE!!!!!🌹🌹🌸🌸💐💐🍀🍀🍀🍀
I always enjoy your videos so much! It brings me back to my amazing childhood that I wouldn’t trade for anything. Oh, let’s not forget the incredible music. I was born in 1953 and grew up in the suburbs of Baltimore. I didn’t have as many toys as you but I do have some wonderful memories.
You always do such a great job. I find myself smiling ear to ear watching your videos. And the music you pick? Eerily hauntingly right on for those times. Thank you for these heavenly snippets of the best time in history!
1960 I was 4 years old. The decade that I was kid. I remember .25 cents for a Hamburger, .15 cents for French Fries, and .20 cents for a small soda at the Snack Shack which was a local fast food restaurant around my old neighborhood where I grew up. Now it is a Chinese Restaurant. Very expensive, and I have not gone there for that reason. And it is an old working class neighborhood which the homes there are now in the 1 million dollar range. Thanks for putting this together FredFlix.
We are so fortunate to get actual glimpses of our past like this. I mean think about it. The people over 50 in the 1970s didn't get to see their childhoods of the 1920s presented this way... not even close. Thanks a lot man. This hit quite a few nostalgic buttons. When I saw the interlocking log toy, I knew I was in for something good.
so a couple weeks ago I hung out with my old high school buds..I brought my 45s and turntable and played the old hits...fun as hell!...my how time flies!!....
Great stuff fred I'm a 1965 model and i remember all if not most of the 1960s my only regret is not being old enough to be able to see "fantastic voyage" on the big movie theater screen.
I wouldn't trade my growing up in the '60s for anything. I had several slinkys, wheel-os, hot both Gumby and Pokey for my 8th birthday, and didn't find out until years later that my neighbor was jealous! I had the ball and paddle, super balls, a pogo stick that I never learned how to use.
Wow, so much I thought I had forgotten, thank you for a return to a time of innocence & wonder as a kid growing up in Portland Maine in the 60's, the best of times then!
Indian Guides, my first plane ride, family outings to Wheaton Plaza in Maryland, the four hour drive up to Binghamton NY every Thanksgiving, and always hearing about a faraway place called Saigon on the TV news.... This vid is particularly fine, Fred. I'm gonna watch it more 'n once. Thanks.
Wow you have out done your self.....perfect...a flood of memories came back..I laughed and thought about things I haven't thought about a long time thanks again.
I can't imagine what you mean??!!!.. like in the late 60s, some of my first memories are standing up in the front seat of our car while my mother was driving...and my only 'seat belt' or 'safety seat' was the quick reflex of her right arm!
....or sitting in the back of a station wagon with the rear window down? (And oh yeah, who could forget the chaotic water jet powered flying mayhem that was the Wham-O Water Whiggle?)
ZnenTitan: We had one of those and I still think those were the COOLEST! Yeah, they were pretty unsafe and I do remember getting burnt fingers several times, but they were still cool. Mattel had the "Creepy Crawlers" Thingmaker, and the coolest was glow-in-the-dark "Plastigoop"! I remember that Topper Toys had a very similar "Johnny Toymaker" machine that came with various car molds and similar "Plastigoop" stuff that came in various colors so that you could make your own toy car bodies! They sold the car rolling chassis separately, and you would put the car bodies you would make on them.
Thanks Fred! These great trips along Memory Lane help so much. When most of us are not allowed to live our present-day lives, a dose of our "wonder years" works like good medicine🌞.
So many great memories in these FredFlix presentations. I haven’t thought of Nestle Quick for so long. Opening the lid with a spoon. Not only great chocolate milk but use just a little boiling water and makes the best chocolate syrup. Mmm Mmm. The penny or nickel candy shelf at the local market. Good times. Thanks as always Fred. Your vid’s are now my before bed program. Sends me off with a smile 😊
Fred..love your videos! Even if I was more of a 70's kid..born in '64..so much of this is priceless!..but I do admit to enjoying your 'personal story' videos a bit more!
Thanks so much. Every time I see one of these it warms my heart. I was born in 1954 so I was there. In reminded of what an outstanding job my parents did. I had all of those toys, we said the Pledge of Allegiance, we prayed in school, we hid under our desks during air raid drills. Incedently I put that Mickey Mantle card on the spokes of my bike with the banana seat. Love was love, music had meaning and melody, it was poetry. What an innocent lifestyle for most. Having said that, I would never go back even if I could. If only I knew then what I know now. I found my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in 1993 and my life will never be the same. Thank you Jesus for dying for me on the Cross. My life for you. In Jesus name, Amen🙏 Thank you Fred for the wonderful trip down memory lane. It was the best I've seen yet. God bless yo and yours👍
@@judyjones5089 I guess every generation thinks about the good old days. I often wonder what this current generation will think of. I guess the good old days will always be here and now. Please God help us in this world we live in today and come soon. In Jesus name, Amen.
@@ronaldmartino2610 I do believe the remainder of our time is short with Jesus, coming, just by looking at current events and biblical prophecy. Jesus said it's like spring: you see the signs of its arriving.
Can't beat the smell.......Also if you were fortunate enough if the copies were still fresh, you can rub the paper against your face because it was very cold...Great relief on a hot spring day without any air conditioning. Thank you
Thank you Fred! This was my childhood as well. I've been binge watching these wonderful time capsules of yours and I long to go back there again! The world is so awful right now and I wish people would return to these bygone years. They were pretty good.
love it all ... wow...yeah getting "Icee " machine at the local Lil General store. we'd hunt for bottles along the road going there after school to buy sugar daddys and Bazooka Joe bubble gum
I have three albums by Allan Sherman and I love them all. And I sure do miss Howard Johnson's. And the way the New York Tri-State area was back then. Sigh - As Thomas Wolfe said, "You can't go home again". But thanks for the memories!
In the larger world full of anxiety (Cuban missile crisis, threat of nuclear war, Vietnam escalation, assassinations, etc), these simple pleasures got us through.
4:55 Cootie!! I remember those. Holy Crap! 8:45, a Schwinn "Lemon Crate"? The Orange crate, the Cherry Crate and the Apple crate were the ultimate dream bicycle of every '60s American boy! Awesome Fred, just awesome memories. Thanks.
Erector Sets, Chemistry Sets w/ real Sodium Bisulfate, circuit boards and crystal radio pens from Radio Shack.... America in the 60's was an awesome time and place to be a human being, child or adult. Your videos are dripping wet with nostalgia Fred. I'll have the blues until I can find some diversion to take my mind off what we've all lost: I don't know whether to thank you or call you a dirty name... my friend.
I remember going to the theatre, on Saturday afternoon, with my younger brother and for one dollar we had a double features (Tarzan, Zorro or Jungle Jim), cartoons, weekly cliffhanger (not to be missed) popcorn, liquorice and a pop...we were walking close to a mile to the theatre, alone and no danger whatsoever...people trusted each others and talked to each other. Who remember the five and dime store? Or these decorated street with Christmas music playing on loud speakers around the holidays? Skating on the frozen lake or eating a baloney sandwich on a sandy beach of the same lake in hot summers afternoon...riding our bicycles around the neighbourhood and go to the park to play baseball...good time all around
Wow, Gregg, that's quite a reaction. I think photos touch a nerve in ways that video can't. Unfortunately, my photo slideshows don't get many viewers, so I quit making them for UA-cam. But I'm happy you were moved to tears...in a good way.
Me too. We as a family almost every Saturday for years during the 1960's would travel from San Francisco to Half Moon Bay, a 25 mile drive on coast highway 1 to go fishing on the pier there. The small fishing village had 350 people, one road in and one road out. I was so excited to get there and so sad to have to go home. Mom was a great cook and we ate good since the fishing and crabbing was awesome. We once brought home 50 crabs. Great times. Car? A black Rambler.
I've viewed several, liking all, but this one dredged up melancholy I'd forgotten I was capable of! No tears, but it made me strangely sad, esp seeing the poor young country family. Life's a neverending struggle for some, a breeze for others, & often the difference between the 2 is no more than luck of the draw - where, when, & to whom yr born. Certain aspects here just reminded me how much life's in my reaview now, w/no playback button, like was on Cousin Billy's reel to reel. On the other hand, Cootie! I loved playing Cootie. & that Godzilla vs. the Thing? I have that. Haven't played it since late 60's/early 70's, but it's still downstairs. Thanx for the time capsule, Fred!
Wow, I had that Silvertone record player! (red and white checkered top & four speeds; also the turntable was kinda small so LPs stuck out over the edge). One of my best ever Christmas presents. And I also remember very well those waffle cuplet ice cream cones... :)
I had the same exact record player as well! I played that thing til the arm broke off from over-use! LOL! It was a great childhood back then, that's for sure!
Hi Charlotte, I too had that exact same record player! Loved it for years til I could afford to buy my own stereo record player with my paper route money
I was like every other kid like you and most of the poster's on this channel topic. Living the LIFE!! Played marbles but my dad always loved to cut in when he seen me with "Let me show you how it's done boy". He was snap fast good too. Everything from TV shows to Radio and Magazines-Comic Books etc. WE HAD IT ALL!! Must be why things are horrible now. The big bad boogy man & minions hated us for having such a simple decent and free life back then in UTOPIA after the WW2. Making us pay for it now. No Matter though. Can't steal that time away that we experienced back then and will carry with us all our existence now and in the times beyond to come for us! Yes Sir!
Thanks for these trips down memory lane. Some of the things you share a re a little before my time ( I was born in 1963, just before Kennedy was assassinated), but a lot of things I do remember.
Wow, you should write a book about the past. These videos are fabulous. I love the pictures and the great oldie but goodies songs. Great work as always.❤️
Born at the end of 1961. Mine: The Flintstones (syndicated with episodes missing, saved for Saturday mornings), I Dream of Jeannie, Laugh-In, The Wild Wild West, lunchboxes (of the previous 2 shows), Peanuts comic strip collections, my 1st comic book (Sad Sack Laugh Special, 1969), top 40 AM radio and some easy listening, Baby Elephant Walk (Henry Mancini), The Saint (b&w era opening/closing stick figure inspired me to draw), McHale's Navy, Tijuana Brass LPs, Sesame St. (for the Muppets and cartoons), The Munsters, Popeye (didn't see the black & white ones till the early '70s), Telzall (un-PC precursor to the Magic 8 Ball, which I later also had).....
Born in 1953, so I grew up in the 60's. What a great time to be a kid. So many wonderful times and memories. There will never be a t ime like it again. Thanks for sharing.

Sweet Memories!Love the music too..Feel so sorry for kids today and I wish they could’ve experienced these times.
Love it! Brings back great memories of much simpler times. Wish we could go back again.

I appreciate that, tundratomo.
well done my friend. it took me back to a simpler time. thanks.
You're welcome, Douglas. Those times were simpler and better.

When most of us are not allowed to live our present-day lives, a dose of our "wonder years" works like good medicine🌞.
Very welcome, David.
Thanks again Fred! The Fantastic Voyage is one of the best movies ever made! Miss Welch mmmm!
You said it, Mark.
Wow, that really brought back alot of memories. Those were the days!!! Your videos are awesome Fred, and l appreciate them very much.......☺️👍👍
So many great memories in these FredFlix presentations.
Wow so great, I guess I missed a few of these from a few years ago. It does take me back to simpler days.
HI WE WATCH FOR THE MUSIC BEING IN OUR 70'S WE GREW UP IN THE 60'S I WENT TO VIET-NAM AND GREW UP FAST..TKS RON AND VERO
WoW, that was a trip down memory lane now that's what I call the good o'l days...
God bless yo and yours👍
agree 100%, I found Jesus in 1977. I was born in 1952. I loved those times growing up, though.
@@judyjones5089 Agreed🙏
Different world with such happy times, and dreams were possible.
Peace in abundance from a Flower Power Child
anyone else like the aroma of mimeographed papers?
Right here!
spidyr2k I vote up for that!
Ditto! :-)
Yes! Always hoped that they would be "passed back" right after being mimeographed.
Can't beat the smell.......Also if you were fortunate enough if the copies were still fresh, you can rub the paper against your face because it was very cold...Great relief on a hot spring day without any air conditioning. Thank you
Hi Fred, wonderful video as always. I love them all. You capture our childhoods. God Bless you.❤️🙏
I appreciate that, Debi.
Love your videos.. wow the memories.. thanks for sharing..
The 60s! Was fantastic! From cartoons to the movies! You keep up the good work and always remind everyone of this fact!
Thank you for putting this together. Memories I had almost forgotten.
You're welcome, J r.
Born in 1963. Loved those old monster models and who knew those old comic books I had would someday sell for what my mortgage is? Damn!
You ve taken me back to the wonderful memories of my childhood. Thank you!
You're welcome, Carolyn.
Thank you Fred! This was my childhood as well. I've been binge watching these wonderful time capsules of yours and I long to go back there again! The world is so awful right now and I wish people would return to these bygone years. They were pretty good.
Thanks, Lisa.
great video, and such great times back then,it was a wonderful time to be a kid,and doing things with the family
love it all ... wow...yeah getting "Icee " machine at the local Lil General store. we'd hunt for bottles along the road going there after school to buy sugar daddys and Bazooka Joe bubble gum
Mark Johnson yeah we earned our penny 🍬.
I have three albums by Allan Sherman and I love them all. And I sure do miss Howard Johnson's. And the way the New York Tri-State area was back then. Sigh - As Thomas Wolfe said, "You can't go home again". But thanks for the memories!
You're welcome, Nora.
Great Job!!
I appreciate that, Mick.
Thanks for this Fred. A nicer world.Sweet memories.
You're welcome, Joseph.
Thank you for sharing. Brings back a lot of memories
You're welcome, Jeff.
In the larger world full of anxiety (Cuban missile crisis, threat of nuclear war, Vietnam escalation, assassinations, etc), these simple pleasures got us through.
everything is the way I remember it, you didn't miss a thing.
Those Flintstones shoes brought back memories of a pair of "cowboy" boots I had. Same shape.
Thanks.
Thanks for your videos! They capture my world perfectly... At least until we moved to Ireland! One tv station, which went from 6pm to midnight!!!
Erector Sets, Chemistry Sets w/ real Sodium Bisulfate, circuit boards and crystal radio pens from Radio Shack.... America in the 60's was an awesome time and place to be a human being, child or adult. Your videos are dripping wet with nostalgia Fred. I'll have the blues until I can find some diversion to take my mind off what we've all lost: I don't know whether to thank you or call you a dirty name... my friend.
I really miss going to the drive-in
Good stuff, thanks Fred.
Nice Compilation! I remember playing alot of pinball at the local Bowling Alley they had rows of machines..some had cigarrette holders
You hit a nerve with this one. I am not afraid to admit that I cried through most of this. I remember every one of these things. And I miss it all.
Wow, Gregg, that's quite a reaction. I think photos touch a nerve in ways that video can't. Unfortunately, my photo slideshows don't get many viewers, so I quit making them for UA-cam. But I'm happy you were moved to tears...in a good way.
FredFlix Thank you.
I know....I remember those times too...nothing I wouldn't do to go back! Not made for these times...
I just sent that song to my daughter yesterday when my grandson went off to camp
You're welcome, Don.
I was there. These videos are a time machine. Thank you. Von Kleiga
Wow, you should write a book about the past. These videos are fabulous. I love the pictures and the great oldie but goodies songs. Great work as always.❤️
Thanks, Kathleen.
Another great one, Fred. You have a beautiful way of dragging out old memories that I thought were long forgotten.
Thanks, Gerald.
Time has changed so much i wish it was the eightys
One of my all time favorite character s was Race Bannon on Johnny Quest. I thought he was always way cool.
Lives up to its' title. A masterpiece time capsule. Thanks Fred!
You're welcome, Ray.
I wish I had a time machine I just luv it 😊
being a 50's and 60's KID was THE BEST....WE RULE!!!
It was a great time to be a kid.
My parents had a couple Alan sherman albums, and I loved them.
