In today’s video you join us back on the road and enjoying van life travel again in Germany! After being stranded in Berlin for several weeks waiting for those export plates, we’re mobile again and heading south with the plan to visit a few sights along the way. We have a little challenge to keep our minds clear as we continue the big task of getting our campervan back to Spain and legal, so we run around the pretty city of Bamberg over doing it completely before staying with the concords! Then after receiving some more bad news and realising it was never going to happen the way we planned, it’s time to get back to Spain as quickly as we can! Let’s do this!!

Astonishing that it’s so complicated to import/export a van within the EU. I think most of us are surprised.
Spain take the view safety is paramount.
My thoughts exactly.
You'd think as in the EU if would be easier but each country still has its own rules and regulations and unfortunately Spain is a lot more strict than other countries regarding camperization. 😞
Not sure the reasons behind us having to remove everything, import as a van and put everything back in regarding safety. Especially when the camperization process when done separately doesn't invclude a thorough check by an engineer....We love Spain but sometimes the paperwork can be frustrating.
The worst info they got is not to legalize in germany.
If the papers are clear and the vehicle has a valid tech inspection then it is just a simple nationalizing process (you might have to pay some import fees)

In my late thirties, after a traumatic event in my life I started to run and I ran for 5 years and like the character in the movie forest gump one day I had enough and just stopped and I haven’t run since…it was a form of therapy…now I just go into my garden, have a glass of red wine and praise God for all He has done

I hope that the company you dealt with regarding your lovely van get a dreadful case of very sudden dodgy belly in a public place. Your outlook and positivity is awesome.
You look very cute in your flannel headgear. A new trend may be in the offing? Glad you’ve made it out of Berlin and with a 3 month plate, despite the cost. Don’t be surprised when the German tax office takes 3 x 24 euros out of your account for road tax. That’s what happened to us but maybe Berlin was more switched on than Bavaria and perhaps it’s already included in what you paid. Have a quick look at your paper. It will be some kind of Steuer - Verhkehrssteuer or Strassensteuer maybe. Don’t worry. They only want it while it’s on the German plates. Enjoy and remember all this will pass and you will be left with a lovely, new van. Xx

Glad to see you're finally heading south for some warmth! 👏 A bit of a tip for future trips that involve rain.....use Rain-X on the windscreen and door windows. At speeds above 40mph/60kph, the rain simply beads off the windows....so much so that you will hardly need the wipers on! 👍
I always use it on my regular trips to Ireland from England, and the journey is a lot more relaxing without the constant noise from the wipers...or being hypnotised by them being on all the time. 👌
Wishing you luck with the Spanish paperwork 🤔 and getting the van re-,registered with as little hassle as possible. 🤞

Good luck with everything and hope it all comes together well. Good thing about having to rebuild is that you will know exactly where everything is and how it works. Makes it a lot easier if something goes wrong, to fix it. PS love the doggies.

Sorry for all you are going through to get that van home. Here in the USA you could drive anything over the border, no questions asked, as long as the wheels are going around. We don't have motor vehicle checks either. If it runs and has lights, it's legal to drive.

Hey guys, don't forget you only have a mere 30 days to import your german plated van from the date you enter Spain (which you will need to get proof of that date) as i told you before, Spanish residents are not allowed to drive foreign registered vehicles unless you are importing it, and if importing it you only have 30 days to do it 😮 Should you be stopped and you cannot prove when you entered spain with the vehicle, then it could be seized, asked to pay what Spain thinks the import duties are and fined, you will still have to import the vehicle after that costing even more money its bonkers 😢😢😢

You guys are great. Everything is better as a couple. Remember that! If you were alone dealing with all that. Even just the dead battery thing. It would be 3x as stressful. So hug each other 4 x a day for at least 3 seconds. ❤😊❤

Your new plan couldn't happen in Portugal they're really strict on vehicle modification. My ex got pulled in her converted Portuguese registered van, was fined, forbidden from using it until it had been returned to it's original state which meant it had to have an "exceptional inspection" at a main IMT test station (that took over a month to arrange and wasn't nearby). It had to be trailered to the inspection and if I recall correctly they didn't issue the paperwork on the spot after the inspection (I may be wrong with that little bit) .
That's why you never see any Portuguese self builds.
Hopefully for you it's different in Spain if that's the route you choose.
But that's my personal experience in Portugal a whole other country.
So glad you haven’t had to pay that company, they really have given you the run around.I’d name and shame them, not to be nasty but to warn others. To be honest, with you being content creators you’re still in a great position, the van was free, you will vlog the process which we will really enjoy watching, win win guys 👍🏻💕

I don’t mean to be rude and have lots of respect for your patience with this company and your stamina getting all the paper work sorted again and again, but to me it is beginning to sound like a regular scam. I’m so sorry to hear and I would give it serious thoughts to try to get refunds through legal action. The amounts they charged you are out of bounds for the kind of service and advice. The fact that they are now contradicting their first advice makes me only the more doubt their intentions.
Very happy to see and hear you’re on the road again and enjoying it soooo much! And do keep up your running challenge, made me start the same challenge, intermittent, though, every other day. You guys are so genuine, thank you so much for all the videos, tips and joy you bring us every week (even twice a week nowadays 😃)

Well in the scheme of things it’s a small price to pay for such a generous gift from Frank and Emily. You’ll get it sorted it’s just a small set back really. Deconstruct and then rebuild plus it’ll be a good opportunity to make any small additions or changes while you’re at it.
Very true and we’ll get to know the van inside out, just hope the inspection of the empty van goes ok and there’s not loads of issues getting the plates before we redo the build!!

Hi guys....Iv been following you for a couple years now...and this is my 1st comment. Really look forward to Friday mornings, when these videos come though early am. (Im in Oz)... As always, wether you guys are at home, on the road, on a train journey, stuck in Berlin or trying to navigate government procedures or deal with....ummmm 'dodgy companies'... At the end of the day, you put together great videos, drone footage, photography and running commentaries. Your editing Nick...is fabulous... With that said, enjoy your journey hone...and I , look forward to your 'Van strip down'...and re-build'. This is life, hey. My saying is... Shit happens, but remember...shit can eventually turns into great compost.
