    Another winner from the hardest working man in the scale modeling business. Thanks!

    Used that on my P47 because I saw it in your Invader video. So easy to do and the results are perfect.

      Yeah, this and the hairspray technique complement eachoder rather nicely.

    I prefer the liquid mask for adding chipping - more controlled application and effect is very realistic. Really, though, you can use both this and the hairspray technique together for best results. And one tip, use a rubber glove on your hand (like ones used for washing dishes) to remove the liquid mask - the glove is thick and won't tear, the rubber easily grips the lm and you can easily vary the pressure you use 👍

    I've never thought of this, always used to steal hairspray from my wife. Will surely try it out. Helpful as always Metodi, thanks!

      Thanks mate, glad it was a helpful video. I usually combine the two methods so they are both very good

    Very cool. Seems a lot more controllable than the hairspray method. Thanks. Will try this.

      It is more controllable but they serve different purposes

    I tried this method and I really liked the results. I didn't even have to take pictures of where the silver was to remember. I wonder if I could use 2 colors. Like silver then yellow.

    • @MMScaleModels
      @MMScaleModels  2 роки тому +2

      Yes it is possible but it will take some practice cause the jagged edges will be visible under a layer of paint and may not look good if remain covered.

    Great idea for precision chipping. Don’t have to layer up with a gloss coat👍🏼

      I already have a tutorial on hairspray chipping which is essentially the same as with chipping fluid. Check it out if you haven't already.

      @@MMScaleModels ill give it a shot but obviously chipping fluid also makes paint look flakey and all that both give an effect tho

    Any opinions on what looks better to simulate chipping, this approach, or using the Tamiya weather master product?

    • @MMScaleModels
      @MMScaleModels  5 місяців тому

      Anything that mimics the real process is going to be more realistic than what is essentially additive process IMO

    I’d like to try this technique. So, you apply the masking fluid with the sponge and let it dry. How long are you letting the masking fluid dry before you paint over it? Same question with the paint. How long before you take the paint off?
    Does the 502 work with acrylic paint?

    • @MMScaleModels
      @MMScaleModels  Рік тому +2

      Depends on the fluid itself, usually it will become translucent when it is done curing. As for the paint that will depend on your next layers. I have had paint sitting on the mask for weeks. As soon as the paint is touch dry you can start removing the mask.

  • @lllordllloyd

    But don't use Microscale Micro Mask which does not lift off even if you build it up in layers. If it does come off, it brings the paint with it. Humbrol Maskol is okay. I find any brush I use is ruined.
