Buy a power soak with matching impendence to the cab output of your head and roughly 200% your amp's power output (although the same amout of watts is ok most of the times, just don't overdue with the master knob). Hook it up to the amp using a power cable. Connect the output of the power soak to your interface and set its preamp to line mode. Gain stage the preamp and you're good to go
Glenn you need to get an Electrician to put Isolated ground circuits for your gear in your studio. Or try seeing if turning off your lights removes the noise. Hi Glen, Used to play in metal bands down here in Texas during the Pantera, Kings X heyday when they were breaking but the scene died with grunge.... I'm now 50 and considering putting another band together with a like minded musician. There's a small scene in Dallas again... My question is...with my guitar playing approach having changed dramatically from typical standard tuned lead playing ( which I still do ) I'm now playing a lot of weird alternate tuned compositions with open string voicings and taking a more chordal flat pick orchestral approach. I can imagine the heaviness going through a metal setup but....With open strings ringing and flat picked chordal parts I'm worried about Dissonance. What gear and settings do you recommend so I can get a heavy tight tone while including open chord or chordal voicings? I dont want to break the bank experimenting with gear. My approach isn't original but it is uncommon. Back in the day I used a Crate Solid State 100 watt half stack, with a quadroverb and various boss pedals. I dialed in a good tone but I suspect that shit would never work now with my approach. Fuck You Glen.....Kelly

How to solve that noise issue? Is it from the electricity? I don't understand a thing. I thought all I had to do was to shield my guitar and get a new guitar cable. But yeah, it wasn't enough unfortunately.

any more amp sims to recomend? recently I tried out the Th-U and sounds best from whatever else I tried, guitar rig, amplitube, helix 6.. at least very versatile and great presets
RoboB3ar neuralDSP archetype nolly. Free trial for 14 days. Very versatile and the best sounding plugin out there, at least to my ears.
That sounded massive!
you can turn the cabs off and use pulse or mikko too, killer then
Know your opinion on line 6 but, I got a used spider v 20a. the usb output and free cubass software that was includes is all I needed. I’m in an apartment so that’s all I can afford to work with... any tips
Ahhh that play through reminded me of the good old days when you’d see the young magazine with jani Limataijen and some other exotic looking guitarists
Sounds really killer for what I like to hear and play. What else do you need to use these amp sims, other than a PC and an audio interface? Amp head/cab? Monitors? If nothing else, what do you think of the Roland rubix22 or rubix24 interface? I was looking into getting one to not only hook up my Roland v drums via midi, but also getting it to use with my guitars too. Another thing, I was going to buy an old Peavey Ultra 60 head next week, is there any way I could incorporate that into it and use it with the PC? Thanks Glenn.
Gain stage the preamp and you're good to go
@@scacchomattho Hell ya, thanks man.
Glenn you need to get an Electrician to put Isolated ground circuits for your gear in your studio. Or try seeing if turning off your lights removes the noise. If so maybe install different fixtures or bulbs. If you have any florescent lights on the premises I would get rid of em. Their ballasts can cause lots of nasty stuff for audio and other sensitive electronics.
Hi Glen,
Used to play in metal bands down here in Texas during the Pantera, Kings X heyday when they were breaking but the scene died with grunge....
Hai Glen. Did you have try free amp root by ml-sound lab?
Brainworx have yet to put out a crappy plugin. I was very much satifisfied with everything I bought from them.
damn. one of the richest sounding amp sims I've heard. It has that plexi twang that alot of friedman/marshall sims seem to have trouble replicating.
Definitely want this one.
im just curious does using balanced cables help the noise any or will it do something to your sound? i use them for my krk rokit 6's without em it sounds like what you got goin on there! cheers from new brunswick, canada
That demo playthrough is fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuhhhhckin awesome man lol
Still baffled that Marty Friedman hasn't been using this.....but I have Friedman be od pedal and it's totally awesome, but can't wait to get this one
does anyone know what riff he plays at 2:36. Its on the tip of my tongue and I can't remember.

How about a cockblocker plug-in Glen?
you know how many gate plugins there are? no need for another one.
But a cockblocker for the clout
I slapped my bassist twice, causing him to become a musician. I should do that more often.
A massive Thank You to Adam Fox for the advice.
LOL 'Slap bass player' changes from a description to an instruction.
Those truly are amazing sounds. And I do appreciate it as a chance to get a good guitar tone silently without pissing off wife/kids/neighbours. It's a solid thing for those who need it.
But still. I'm in a position where I can crank up real amps and record them with mics. Fucking with digital shit always feels like fucking with digital shit.
Call me an old dinosaur, but I just love doing these things like they were done before.
OK. Do you have a video on how to get the tone from guitar to interface to plugin to ears?
If not, I'd like to see it.
Cool! You can post pre-air! Nice
"We got a gate here and it is phenomenal." Dude pls...
It sounds good in the mix after tons of EQ. But when you have to track with those sims, you'd rather mop the floor, wash the dishes or do anything else instead.
How it sounds in the mix is the most important part. Very little EQ was used btw. It works VERY well in the mix.
How to solve that noise issue? Is it from the electricity? I don't understand a thing. I thought all I had to do was to shield my guitar and get a new guitar cable. But yeah, it wasn't enough unfortunately.
Ooooo Pretty bass! .. ugh . 1 .. 2 .. 3 .. 4 .. um 5? what last string 4?
I'd love to see an episode on how you write all these riffs. You and your team are producing quality songs regularly, and I think it's something we could seriously learn from.
Love amp sims, but damn that was muddy as Hell... Nevermind just got past the 7:00 mark.
Hi,
Me and my fender deluxe nashville telecaster
are wondering what do you think about Marshall DSL1CR
yes 0.1/1W tube home amp.
Would you use a hammer or a pick of destiny?
What is your opinion about guitar rig by NA. Does it compare?
Glenn have you checked out brainworx dual and single rectifier sims? They are the best Mesa sims I've heard, way better than the officially endorsed Mesa Boogie Amplitube versions too
Glenn, I think you should always bring a 6 string guitar as well to your demos, maybe tuned to D standard and riff it out. Also, I think that in this demo there's a tad too much top end cut and we're not getting the complete brightness of the amp's sound in this video.
Something is not right here... it doesn't compare very well to other plugins even free ones. The mixed part was fine, but that's to be expected.
Sounds like a plugin
Yeah this is kinda trash, I'm getting POD XT vibes. There are plenty of good digital amp sims out there but this isn't one of them, I play a real Friedman and I'm open-minded to replacing it with a plugin if it sounds as good. This doesn't.
@@inevitableveganfuture3915 Im not against it, by any means, but I would never use it on an album instead a real amp. the depth sounds different... dont know... Iam I biased?
Wow, changing the mic changes a lot!
2:52 diy faraday cage build when
I bought this on sale, and kinda regretting it, as the nalex free sim version of this sounds pretty much just as good......I guess I will have to do a comparison between the 2 along with my be-od pedal, which is one of the greatest high gain pedal of all time
Man. This thing sounds amazing! The first plugin I've personally felt sounded like an actual mic'd up amp. Wow. Insane.
That does sound good, he nailed the Electric Eye riff, lol
All I can say about this is nice Kiesel
The biggest downside with software is that most of the time you can't resell it. If you have a 2x12 cab and you got bored of it, you can sell it relatively easily. Try that with an IR pack!
$130 are you kidding me. A 1 amp plugin?? You can get bias for that kind of money.
And from what I head in this video it doesn't sound that well...
Sjaak van Dam I love bias. The ola war is my amp of choice
Lol, why on earth would you get Bias?
Poul Winther Knudsen I use it on my phone so my options are limited. But im happy with the tone I get
sound like old dsl 100 and jcm 900 sl x with boost. Similar sound it to fear factory demanufacture and absolut albums.
Will you review Grind Machine III by Audio Assault? I checked out preview version, it sounds pretty damn close to a real thing.
