I remember loving this song so much when I was a teen. Because that kind of relationship is what you want at that age. A relationship full of passion even if it’s toxic (not that you realize that’s what it is) and now that I’m 26 I look back and it feels so different. I can see that 15 year old and how much I’ve grown.
And I’m exactly that 15yo who received the kind of relationship any teenager would dream of. But I feel like, our kind of love is a bit toxic, but that toxicity holds beauty in itself. We get into a lot of arguments and work thru each and every one of them. He’s my first kiss who I kissed in the light rain of winters. I might be a little young to say this but.. I truly hope he’s it. I want him to be with me for the rest of my life bc I don’t think I’ll ever find a boy so loyal and genuine as him. They say eyes explains how you feel, and I notice that he sees me with the most purest intentions. I know I won’t love anyone the way I loved him, I’m sure of it.

@@marianadiaz495 mostly the fact that she doesn’t own the original, so she rerecorded to reclaim what should be rightfully hers (she doesn’t have the masters to her old albums). Of course her voice and the production have changed a bit, but otherwise there isn’t that big a difference.

Nobody realized that in this song Taylor compared her present lover to her ex. She's happy with how her current lover treats her but somehow she misses those screaming, fighting and kissing in the rain at 2 am. She was so in love that she acted insane cause that's the way she LOVED him. Her mind 🙌

The kinda love that was crazy, impulsive, rejuvenating...the kinda love that started out and ended in flames. The kinda love that was both damaging and irresistible at the same time. The kinda love that any adult would say is not going to work out. Thats what she talks about here, what we've all experienced before. Then when we reach a certain age we see that sensible and comfortable is what we go for, that's what we settle for. I'm not saying it's bad but its inevitable. It hurts to look back, but we cannot deny that the crazy love wasn't going to work out anyway. Speaking from experience.

There's no reason it can't start out as something crazy and impulsive and then maintain its intensity but slowly evolve into something sensible and comfortable. I have been really lucky, that's how it's been for me :) The amount of love we feel is the same, but we have learnt how to share our dreary Mondays too :)
You penned it all so accurately and beautifully. Yes the rush that kind of toxic love gives is addictive and its so hard to leave it behind.
After a certain age you realise that thats not how it should be in a relationship, it needs to be stable enough to work out jn the long run.
We may want our toxic ex but we all need someone that respects us, loves us, cares for us, is a gentleman.
