- Witness the magic of traditional Iranian blacksmithing!
Step back in time and join us in a centuries-old blacksmith shop, where the art of metalworking is still alive and thriving. Watch as a skilled blacksmith transforms a simple rebar into a functional scythe, using a combination of antique power hammers and traditional hand tools. With over two centuries of experience passed down through generations, this master craftsman demonstrates incredible skill and precision.
The centerpiece of the workshop is a massive, centuries-old tree trunk that serves as the anvil. This natural wonder, combined with the rhythmic sounds of the hammer striking metal, creates a truly mesmerizing atmosphere.
Join us as we take this newly forged scythe to a field and experience the satisfaction of cutting grass the old-fashioned way. This video is a testament to the enduring power of craftsmanship and the importance of preserving traditional skills.👍

how to make a scythe?
I felt like I was in that workshop. Their work was great. 👌👌👌👌
Now I know where to go for a good hand scythe.I have seen them made before, but this man took extra steps......and used REBAR to start from.
You just have to respect that kind of skill.
I'm glad that this master's work was useful to you. I will definitely film more blacksmithing for you. 🌹🌹🙏🙏
The smith is very skilled. Whoever is doing the subtitles needs to study up a bit.. The stump is not repurposed as an anvil-it is an anvil stand. The anvil is steel..-As a smith with 60 years experience the most amazing thing to me is his ability to do all that forging and still have a clean shirt. I walk into my shop and my shirt is instantly black..
Great video.
Dear Master, I don't know where on earth you live, but I am very grateful for your kind message. It is absolutely true. That old tree trunk is the base of the anvil, not the anvil itself. ✔✔🌹🌹🌹🌹
Kendimi o atölyede hissettim. Çalışmaları harikaydı.👌👌👌👌
Beğenmene sevindim. Sen kendin harikasın.🌹🌹🌹✔✔✔
Not bad I might give it a try and forge some rebar into something useful.
Es un verdadero artista.
Bendiciones para este noble caballero.
Watching the power hammer is so satisfying🥰🤣🤣🤣

Why do people use mild steel for edged tools?
where does he buy so much patience and passions?
Yep, mind is not blown.
.
PHC- this is mild steel, can you do high carbon steel?
Yes, yes. This was ordered for a simple Chinese fodder and it didn't need to be any stronger or more expensive.❤❤✔✔✔✔
Rebar?
yes yes✔✔🌹
beautiful work my only thing is never put your hand or fingers in the line of fire of your powerhammer
Thank you for your kindness. I will pass on your message to them. My husband also had your concerns after watching the movie, just like you. 🙏🙏🌹🌹
👍👍👍
Where is this workshop located? You are skilled!
Somewhere in iran
Yes. Dear friend. This workshop is in Iran and if you ever come to Iran, I will be very happy to take you to this workshop. ✔✔🌹🌹
Thank you for your answer. That is absolutely correct.🌹🌹✔✔
Forging rebar...
whoever buys those will have a surprise...😂
🥰😂
Great skill.
Gees, they buried that stump 3 meters into the ground, I would have thought that excessive, but then, I am lazy and what do I know?
Danke, lieber Freund.
I thought you cant harden regarding because it's mild steel?
Depends on the country you’re in some places have only the one word for both
That's exactly right. You're right.🌹🌹✔✔

@PersianHandCraftsP where you think China got all their "great ideas"🤦🏻♂️🤣

in baustahl ist doch kein bzw. sehr wenig kohlenstoff - also nicht härtbar - fakt!
Absolutely true, my friend. I saw that for heavy work and thick branches, much stronger and springier alloys were used. But this example was made for a small space and little grass, because the person who ordered this work had very little grass. And since the stronger alloy cost him several times more, he did not want it. Please also watch the end of the video to see how this scythe worked. Thank you for your attention.🌹🌹
OK✔🥰
That is a SICKLE not a scythe!
🙏
In my dictionary they both mean sickle. 🤔
@@PersianHandCraftsP Well ok. I have used a scythe for over twenty years now and I have never heard anyone refer to it as a sickle. As english is my first language I can assure you you have made a sickle there.
Thank you, English-speaking friend.🌹I'm sorry. English is my second language. Please teach me.
Looks like a scythe to me. Use one everyday. Good work PHC.
Pseudo Heat treatment on an non hardenable steel and still trying to hammer it after the pseudo quench is a joke ..., and it does not even cut in 1 time the grass ... Why not use spring steel and make a more durable tool ... This one gonna last 1 week and go to dusbin after that

Looks like it works to me
@@PersianHandCraftsP How can a piece of an old car spring cost more than new rebar?
You made a plasticine sickle and still make excuses.
🙏
@@asdertrender7555 if you do just a little bit of research you will find new rebar goes for approximately $3-7 for a 10ft stick while a scrap yard will charge you around $25-40 for a coil spring. Also used coil springs can be rather dangerous to work with do to the stress they are put through which can cause micro fractures and cracks that will ruin the work you put in to making the blade so most bladesmiths opt for buying new spring steel from a distributor which will usually run you approximately $10-55 per piece depending on size/weight of course...
Can tell its not hardenedable steel and he doesn't care/know cause wouldn't be beating on it after quenching 😂😂😂😂😂
There is no need for you to teach us, who have been blacksmithing for three thousand years. Try to remove laughter from the owners and inventors of science, culture and art
🙏🙏🌹🌹

He did put i back into the fire for a temper, just by looking at the oxidation spectrum. Old japanese masters used to temper like this inmediatly after quenching, just like him
Rebar FFS, all that effort for garbage steel.
