This was the first Troughton I ever saw; on budget omnibus VHS in '88. So it holds heaps of nostalgia for me. For the longest time this was the only Ice Warrior outing too, which means when I finally got to see The Ice Warriors I was disappointed. The cast is superb here, the story is solid and oddly doesn't waver over its long run time. And the Warriors themselves are great. - AFA
Yeah, I've always preferred it to the original too, though I've a particular soft spot for it, as it was my first Doctor Who VHS! I've vivid memories of watching it on Boxing Day morning 1987! I've always felt that the T Mat v Rocket thing maybe a slight comment on the way the Beeching Act decimated our railways, which would have been very fresh in the mind back then, leading us to become over reliant on an increasinlgy congested road system!
I am also doing my own Doctor Who marathon and am on The War Games at the moment. I love seeing your opinions on each episode. IMO: Seeds of Death ⭐⭐⭐⭐
This part of Season 6 is always bittersweet, as it’s the end of Troughton’s run… but the excellent Pertwee era is just around the corner. It also feels like the end of an era with the shift to a different production style and the introduction of color. It’s the boost the show really needed, even if it’s sad to see Troughton depart.
I think this was the story that made the Ice Warriors my favourite monsters. I really enjoy this one especially the line "You can't kill me I'm a genius". I think I like Troughton more than the era that he is within, so I'll miss him but I'm really looking forward to you getting to the Pertwee years one of my favourites.
An excellent one, a huge improvement on the first one and full of tons of commentary on technology. Love this and the Ice Warriors only get better from here.
This was well timed. It’s Patrick Troughtons birthday today!🎉

But he did send them packing - a nice holiday to the sun 😂
These videos are so far apart now.
Very pleasant story
