    ----------FAQs----------
    Q) Can it play Video?
    A) Not in the way a home cinema projector plays videos - however pre-recorded line drawn animations are a possibility with the right player software. Here’s an example / 776462775505694720
    Q) Can you use it to play Oscilloscope demos?
    A) Yes with the right software this could work as a giant oscilloscope display.
    Q) What kind of games could you display on a laser projector?
    A) There is a limitation to the number of lines that can be shown at any one time - however here is a demonstration of a simple laser game • Laser super hexagon
    Q) Can you put the handle/mount on upside-down?
    A) Yes it can be unscrewed and put back on the bottom...however there is absolutely no point as the image can be flipped in software and when the handle is on the bottom it won't move fully forward or back, so the LaserDock will no longer fit in its case.
    Q) Why was this video uploaded twice?
    A) Somehow the first upload of this video got corrupted on youtube so it had to be re-uploaded. It takes a while to upload & process a 5GB file, the video was not available during this period.
    Q) Actually...I think you'll find that it's not the "worlds first"....blah blah blah..
    A) The title of this video contains a quote (identifiable by the quote marks) from here www.wickedlasers.com/laserdock Take up any grievances you have with them.
    Q) What is the point of the Interlock?
    A) The item provided in the box is a simple wire bridge between two points - this can be extended out to a separate switch used to deactivate the projector remotely (as projectors are commonly installed out of reach they could be difficult to turn off) - here is an example of a switch en.beglec.com/product/4210/Las...
    Q) What do the FDA have to do with approving a laser device for use in the USA?
    A) Here's the appropriate page on their website www.fda.gov/radiation-emitting...
    Q) What do the insides look like?
    A) This: c1.iggcdn.com/indiegogo-media...

      @@TheRealColBosch In my experience (with a friend's self-built laser projection devices), the fog lets through enough light that the image still looks good on a non-white, uneven wall/ceiling, while still producing nice effects in the fog.

  • @Kaeltis

    The power connector is a powerCon by Neutrik (if it's genuine), those are really neat little connectors.

    • @elbiggus
      @elbiggus 7 років тому +5

      I think it's a "clone" -- I can't see any branding on the plug or socket, and I've only ever seen the silver latch on speakON plugs.

    • @caloss2
      @caloss2 7 років тому +4

      It was a genuine one, I've fitted hundreds of them, it had their name on it, [ top of the insert shaft embossed ] top kit for live/installation gear.

    • @elbiggus
      @elbiggus 7 років тому +1

      I'm unconvinced; if it were genuine then the socket should have Neutrik embossed on it at the bottom of the outer ring, and the right side of the plug (the one visible when he plugs it in) should have some sort of "Do not disassemble" warning printed on it. Also, unless they've changed recently, the solid blue (20A) powerCON connectors have a yellow latch. The only blue ones with a silver latch are speakON connectors, and while the 30A powerCON does have a silver latch it's a different shape and the barrel is grey.

    • @caloss2
      @caloss2 7 років тому +11

      ***** Ok, watch the video again this time in 4k, then buy 100 units from Neutrik directly, fit them to all your bands cables and then come back and tell us what they look like. The powerCon have had silver metal latches since 2012.

    • @dash8brj
      @dash8brj 7 років тому +1

      They're good connectors and can handle quite a bit of power - 30 amps if memory served me correctly. My ion laser power supply MK IV uses one to carry the filament current to the plasma tube (25 amps at 2.5v DC)

    Holy macaroni that’s a bloody good bit of kit! I run an internet radio station, it’s a sub of the longest running hardcore record label & I do a weekly show that I also upload the video to UA-cam, not on this account as this is my personal account. Anyhoo, I have a fair amount of the led laser effect lights & for my show they work amazing, I do have a 400w smoke machine also to make them look better. This has intrigued me immensely, not for my radio show but the label I work for we are going to be putting on club nights later this year & I think this could be an ideal bit of bit for that! After all ravers love lasers!😂 Matt thanks for bringing this to my attention, albeit a few years later!😂 I had never found this whilst searching for proper laser systems before!👍🏻

    I've seen this exact thing last year at a shopping mall I sometimes go to. It was being used to project vector-style advertising imagery on the floor, wall, and ceiling. I searched for the thingy that was projecting the image. It took a while to find it suspended from the ceiling next to a support beam, but I did, and looked exactly like this thingy in your video.

    I still have an old "laser" light unit i bought for Spencer gifts back in the mid 80s. 100 dollars. it was made by "with design in mind". I still use it and for what it does its cool.

    i've managed nightclubs and this thing looks cooler and is dramatically cheaper than a lot of professional lasers that clubs use. if the build quality is as solid as it looks, i'd actually consider using this for a professional setup as well. looks fantastic.

    I know i’m late but the front frame looks like a pangolin ilda rgb laser. Love the fact that the ilda control module is integrated in the laser. And those 15-20 kpps mirror scanner are doing an amazing job! Currently using a cr-tech surpass-s mk3 3w rgb laser which burned my phone’s back camera…

    Very cool and very oldschool at the same time. I can see this in various nightclubs, it does the job but the lasers must be dangerous for the eyes (I guess). It should be enclosed in something for party use (I guess). Thanks for all the cool videos, I'm a regular listener and you are part of my weekly habits. :-)

    With all this stuff you need your own museum to put em in and show everything off for a small price of admission which would count as a donation to the cause as well of course.

    Have to say, I love the fact that you have a hidden projector screen in your living room. That's gotta impress the guests if they aren't distracted by the wall o' hifi, haha.

    ACTUALLY…. I believe my ITT Tech graduation project was the first portable automatic laser entertainment show in a ready to go box as it was designed and built to completion and demonstrated at ITT San Bernardino in 1994. It’s most amazing feature was that everything fit within the confines of an average sized business document brief-case! But the outside world was unaware of our creation. In fact, this is the first time I’ve mentioned it in a public forum. Back in 1994 there was no Internet for consumer use, no web browsers, nor smart cell phones that could record videos for later, so we really had no easy way to document and advertise or show off the concept at the time to the outside world. We wouldn’t have even really conceived of that at the time, it was just an open-ended project creation assignment which I chose the form of the product to build upon which our graduation depended on completing for ourselves. Things would be different now!
    It had many primary goals which it achieved well, including thee off-axis variable speed spun mirror pattern generation ultra responsive to the music via cross-over filtration of the music, built in audio amp, built in play. It also all fit inside of a small briefcase which you could set down, pop open and it would automatically position itself at the correct angles to project the laser output and was ready to go! Five of us worked on various circuits of the project from power supply to audio sensing to motor control to audio amp to laser tube supply,. The project worked as planned and was a success. I still wish I had physical possession of the finished project. I loved that thing.
    Perhaps one day I will redo it modernized with different color laser diodes instead of a solid state laser tube (flashlight sized) so I can vary both the intensity of the colors in addition to the shape of movement. Might also try x-y axis mirrornipulations for ore randomness of patterns on at least one mirror stage instead of off axis variable speed rotational spinning from stepper motors. Would also like a cross-over filtration circuit that doesn’t make assumptions about bass mid and tebble peaks but rather can find and track the peaks itself if there is a discrete electronic method way to do that rather than actively programmed something else. Would gain significantl space by kicking the CD drive to the curb as the music source and finding some kind of amplifier that runs AAC or HVEK audio files from a thumb drive or just bluetooth the music over from a phone app. User assigned color would be nice too to determine which of the three channels gets R, G, or B. Manual old school digital type joystick control to interfere with the mirror stage controls would also be a fun add-on. We got an A on the project. The class absolutely loved it. Oh yeah, it also had a heater circuit for managing release of dry ice to enhance the ability of the lasers to be seen by all. Teachers and students from other classes were even stopping in to see the laser music projection system in action. Such an amazing fun project to envision, plan, manage, and assemble. OH I’d would definitely do it again, but next time a marketing plan to sell a revamped version to the public.
    I still see a market for our version of the portable laser-show product which does not require use of additional computer hardware or any kind of programming to make an instantly entertaining AV-synchronized mesmerizing laser show which never completely repeats the same pattern twice. Wish all my lab partners were still around to make a 2.0 version but that’s OK, as I retained all the circuit diagrams.. I figured at the time that those were more important than the physical project itself which could be recreated later, but not faithfully without the original corrected final design circuit plans and physical diagrams. It could have been a nightmare integrating each person's separate circuit contribution but because we master-planned it sectionally from the beginning under a rigid expectation of exactly which kinds of inputs and output connection types or section to section signals would be connecting everything all mapped out in advance, everything went together like butter! It pays to carefully plan ahead on large projects with multiple contributors. Advice to future electronics school graduates working on group graduation projects: A. You must lay out a semi-rigid roadmap with intermediary goals to achieve to keep everyone on track and in harmony ended for creating a single, working prototype device tapping the talents of several people to bring it all together. Lastly, B. Keep your group size to six or less people as groups of 7 is where cohesion becomes more of a major challenge. both for the project manager to keep track of everyone’s progress and for purposes of group decision making, its exponentially harder to get everyone to agree on everything once you reach 7 people in total in a group. Jut saying’. :)

    It´s such a smart choice that it uses Neutrik powerCON since that means it can be really easily integrated in to many exiting setups.
