Early Top Gear really was a very car oriented show with loads of consumer advice in car ownership! Some might not have been very interested in this format, and prefer the less ”professional” car reviews, but I actually find it quite nice how they made sure to be informative and helpful for the sake of the british motorist!

They definitely had a "soft reboot" around Season 8 or 9 to be more humor-oriented and focus more on spectacle. It was definitely needed to keep the show growing but I do miss this side of the show

Ask and He shall answer. Knock and the door shall be opened to you. Upon doing that with a repented and righteous heart, leave everything else, to God. /Prayer+ I am on my hands and knees Lord, rejoicing in Your love for me. - Just buy a used Ford Focus and run it until some dumbass hits you and writes it off, then buy another one.

The "second hand new car" thing still exists and is something to definitely look out for. I used to work at a vauxhall dealership when the zafira was going extinct. It was a fully loaded, like absolutely everything checked car, but nobody wanted it because everyone wanted an SUV. We eventually had to plate it and gradually had to take 12k off of it after numerous attempts of selling it and the buyers picking SUV's instead. It had done 9 miles in total and eventually sold for the price of an actually used car. Last brand spanking new mpv I ever saw. We had plenty of others too but they weren't that dramatic. Considerable price cuts nevertheless.

Clarkson Gear (2002-2015): Jezza's top-hit comedy program where he and his two co-hosts banter and engage in comedic situations. Also, there are cars, but don't expect the 3 hosts (minus former host Jason Dawe) to give serious and valid car tips and advice.

So much Mandela Effect evidence of the VW logo without a join in the middle. In this current Earth reality and timeline it has never existed.

So insane how many deals you can get back then. Now car dealers are using the pandemic and shortage of supplies as an excuse to mark up cars.

James May said he got money off a car with a phone call. That's living in a fantasy land because the dealer is going to say anything to get you in the door, then change the deal because you have no proof he said that. And I don't think it's legal to record phone calls in the UK.

But if they do that, you can just walk OUT of the door again. It's not like you're tied into the contract during negotiations.

@@Skorpychan Yeah, you can walk out and that's the power you have but their goal is to get you in the door and then pressure you into a car. That's how they sell cars to idiots. They want you to forget that you can walk away and that you need that car.

you know what... as a mechanic techician and a machinist in traning i can honestly say they missed with everything apart from the miata and the e46... you can't go wrong with the e46... all of em are dogshit now. dogshit to own. dogshit to maintain. and dogshit to work on... especially the french ones... jesus i feel bad for anyone who purchased one of these recomended vechicles... i don't know whether to cry or laugh

Have to remember this was about 20 years ago. A lot of these cars are bought by people who see it as "just a car" and will only bother with basic maintenance, as cheap as possible. Usually when it gets too expensive to own, it gets sold to people who think they can do it themselves or just dont bother at all. But I reckon back then it definetly were good deals.
