Don't waste money buying a cheap $30 20 foot slip and slide from Target. Spend $20 more and get a 100 foot long, much more durable piece of plastic and make on yourself that will last all summer long and is so much more fun!
0:13 Find a good place for a slip and slide
0:22 Get yourself a piece of plastic
0:42 Pick up debris (rocks, sticks, dog poop, etc)
0:52 Deploy plastic!
1:18 Run water and adjust
1:52 Put baby soap in dispenser
2:19 ENJOY ALL SUMMER LONG!
I've set this up 3 times so far. Some takeaways:
1-Longer the better
2-Soapier the better
3-Watery the better
4-Get white plastic (stuff I got is color of milk jug), second choice black, last resort if you want to kill grass is clear plastic
5-Buy some pool toys, huge fun bonus!
6-Add a kiddie pool in the end, make for a big fun splash finale!

I love the idea of the kiddy pool at the end to slow down.
Credit goes to my wife, Tracy. Thanks Punk!
They look like they had a great time. I remember having one for my nephews many years ago. They thought my husband was the coolest uncle.

It’s the secret joy of parenting. lol
That looks awesome, I need to find a spot with a hill now!
You should!
With all the rec pools closed up here for the summer I’m bringing the kids down. That is way too much fun.

So cool! Definitely need to try this but my hill isn’t as steep as yours
Definitely want it on a hill. I wish ours was more steep for this!
Found this in spam comments. Imagine Ben Lawn Guardian's old lawn with a slipnslide! Ben certainly *had the steepest hill all the ladies loved.
Koven Carlson

Thanks Busran!
Should set up some sprinklers by the tarp so it can get wet
Great idea Jacob!
Great job Dad! By the way, would you consider fostering a 51 year old boy who struggles with adulthood?
Lol, come on over!
Kids grow up, grass grows back
@@lefttool7928 "Grow old, but don't grow up" - my father in law God rest his soul. I may have to sacrifice a summer dead patch to the slip and slide. That hill tho...
We tried every soap in our house.couldnt get a good slick surface.might need ky lol
XD. Baby soap from the dollar store worked well for me.
Dose this beautiful slide will work on flat area ?
i suppose it would
Did the hose run all the time, or wet it now and then?
Yes, unfortunately uses a lot of water and gets super muddy.
Step 1: move to a house with a hill Step 2: Slide. PITTL
Step 3: Build even bigger ski jump style slip and slide.
I can only have 75 in so could I cut the plastic. This summer I’m trying to make a homemade water slide. Pls tell me if I could do that
How much do you have? It's all kinda relative to what you expect.
I could have 100ft
midwest must have alot of hills? Assuming, this is the midwest? Sorry if I'm wrong
in the STL area
what’s the grass look like after?
It depended on the day's temp, amount of sunlight and how long we ran it. After doing it about 10 times, I don't go longer than 3 hours and try to minimize water use (more soap). It has and will kill cool season grass if left on too long, I think one time I left it on there for 5 or 6 hours. Warm season grass tolerates it much, much more.
I mean the grass won't be killed after just a few hours once a week or so right?
I'd do it a couple hours every two weeks if using the same spot. Unfortunately I used it all day and killed the entire strip.
@@kove yikes 😲. Good to know.
It's not 6 millimeter but 6 mil and one mil is one thousandth of an inch
lmao, quarter inch thick plastic would be a beast! Good catch..
away from electronics :)
XD
Colton
yes?
Comment.
Glad you liked it and thanks 'Brett Sucks'! 😉
6mm ?? You mean 0.6mm??
lol, yes.
@@kove
1 mil = 1/1000 of an inch = 0.0254 millimeter (mm)
But you meant to say 6 mil = 0.1524 mm (and not 0,6 mm)
🙂
1 mil is not 1 mm, it is 1/1,000 of an inch.
lol, I can't believe those words came out of my mouth, I should know better. Thank you for the correction Robert!
only thing soap will kill the grass.
The plastic covering the grass will kill it faster than the soap
Not at all! and I've had both cool and warm season grass in the end there. it does just fine. Soap acts as a surfactant, helping the soil absorb water more quickly!
INDEED! Do not buy clear if possible. If you buy clear, keep on grass for only a couple hours. I since bought a second after the first got too many holes. White works perfect, and I leave on the grass all day.
Doing it with 6 mil
Let me know how it worked out!
