Happy Birthday Edna! Hi Granny Pat…..I’ll be 60 in March….and I remember the snow storms NJ would get in the 60’s and 70’s….like you said, every kid in the neighborhood was outside playing in the snow. We bundled up as best as possible…..and would be outside so long the adults would have to call us in to warm up and have some hot chocolate. I love listening to your stories. You are so right about friends and how important they are when we are older. Me and my best friend from the age of 6 or 7….we will be 60 this year. Anyway, back when we were 19 we had a huge falling out and stopped everything for years. When her grandmother died, I knew I had to show up. That woman was a big part of my life too and I owed her my respect. My friend and I talked a little, but things were still strained. Fast forward (actually, we’re going back) to 2017….my husband died from cancer, a year later her husband died, we were both disabled in our 40’s and widowed in our 50’s. The both of us decided to apologize, forget the past, and only go forward. Her life and my life have been mirrored forever….it’s just who is it gonna happen to first. It’s so good having my best friend back.
Living in upstate New York, I still love winter as much as I did so many years ago. There’s something so peaceful and beautiful with new fallen snow, sledding, skating, snowmen, warm mittens and scarves that my mom had made, wearing dads socks and a plastic bread bag on our feet before sliding into our boots. It hasn’t been over 18° in a week and the cold gets to my old bones but the warm memories of having so much fun playing in it make up for it. Happy birthday to sweet Edna🎂🎈🎂
Hi Granny Pat ~ it's freezing here in the N GA Blue Ridge Mountains ~ light snow falling. I love your stories-I never knew my grandmothers, so I claim you. Stay warm and well ❄️💗🌸❄️💗🌸❄️💗🌸❄️

Sending belated birthday wishes to your good friend, Edna!🥳🥳 Thank you so much for your enjoyable visit. 😊 It’s always fun hearing the latest on what you have to say! I inherited my Mom’s Fostoria collection. She inherited some pieces from her sister when she passed. I have Mama’s china hutch cabinet and her dining table and chairs in my dining room. I’ve got some of my maternal grandmother’s glassware in there too. When I’m gone, I doubt very seriously that our daughters will want any of that stuff. I need to have a talk with them and explain the pieces so at least they will know who they are from. I also have the real china tea set that my sister and I got as children. They don’t make sets like that anymore! **Hope you had a nice chat with Edna! Happy New Year! ❤-Brenda
Hi Granny Pat! I’m Christine from NJ! Just wanted to let you know that I thank you for giving me a smile with your chit chats every time! I’m so blessed that I found you. Please don’t ever forget what a special person you are, giving such good back to all of us out here in you tube land! Have a super day!!
Hi Pat... Just a memory I have too. When you were talking about putting ice in the freezer.. it reminded about the fridges that were not frost free. I don't think I'm the only one who's frost grew to be about two inches thick around the freezer compartment which was small to begin with, I would have to unplug the fridge and leave a pot of boiled water in the freezer compartment or put the kettle in there and have an extension cord and stand there and wait for the kettle to boil dry. I remember the relief there was when chunks of ice would fall into the plastic tray under the freezer compartment. Sometimes I would have to chip away at it with a knife. And the satisfaction there was when you could plug your fridge in again and start all over again
@@kellylucee4589 My two oldest sisters came to visit. While I was at work they decided to clean my freezer. They never let me forget about finding a whole chicken buried in ice in my non-defrosting freezer.
@chitchatwithgrannypat7900 😂 I can relate to that. I lost items in my freezer that became terribly freezer burnt. Totally unusable. Kids don't even know what means nowadays a whole half of their fridge/freezer is just freezer. No frost to chip away at 😂
It’s very cold for Us also, at least by South Louisiana standards! Had to bleed hose lines, cover outdoor faucets, bring in tender tropical plants & put freeze blankets on others & certainly bring the hens & rooster their winter hats & wool coats ;) French onion soup on stovetop & I’m about to light a fire in fireplace. Stay safe and warm Granny Pat and Thank You for visiting with all of us today.
Hi Granny Pat, I am a new subscriber and I love listening to your stories. You are so comforting, I miss my grandparents and loved hearing their stories!❤😊
Yes I’m a Collector! Mom used to give my niece my baby dolls. One day she gave her my little red rocking chair. I said that does it! I went after it. I still have it today at 68 years old. ❤️😘🐝
Hi Pat. That video of Roy Clark is amazing. He is so talented. I loved Hee Haw. Such a funny show. I love hearing stories about you and your siblings. The years have gone way too fast. That story about your little brother is hysterical. That made my day. I laughed so hard. We used to go out and build igloos in the snow when I was little. I agree with you about the memories of the children now. Their fun is so different. That bowl you got is really great. I love it. Enjoy this winter day. Talk to you soon. Shirley from Hanover PA
@@shirleyduffy5747 Just wish I could create good stories from my childhood. I could write them, but trying to tell stories off the top of my head isn’t easy to do. I forget what I want to say, therefore, messing up the whole story. I’ll tell you a secret - “I’m getting forgetful”. Don’t tell Jan! I don’t want her to know!😂🤣🤪🤪🤪 (It ain’t no laughin’ matter.) maybe those CBD gummies would work. I tried the cbd oil once - couldn’t tell any difference except I had regular bowel movements!!!! 😁
I put a lil sugar in my vegetables. I think it enhances the flavor. I buy vegetables in the frozen section and my tomatoes in cans for my vegetable soup.
It's good that you blessed others with your daughter's dresses Pat. I'm sure they very much appreciated them. Love watching and listening to you. Love and blessings 💖
Very glad to hear you are safe after the storm. Just love your videos & stories...my daughter even bought me your books for Christmas 😊 Love the haircut & the long videos!
Granny Pat, you’re funny. I watched HeeHaw when I was a child. Roy and Buck Owen’s were great entertainers. I wish we had good shows like that today. We’re expecting snow here on Thursday bill take it if it means a couple days off of work. Have a great week. Hugs to you❤
Thank you Granny Pat for your wonderful memories you shared with us. I remember when I was a child growing up in Chicago IL and there was this hill it was called devil hill and we used to take our sled up that hill and slide down, that was the good old days. Have a blessed evening Granny Pat by the way love your hair cut.🙏🏼👍

I knew who Roy Clark was, but wow, I never knew he played like that either. Some of my favorite types of music. Thanks for showing it. I’ll look it up. Yes, it’s been snowy here in Lancaster, Pa. I’m from the northeast originally and have wonderful memories in every season. Outdoors. Sleigh riding. Such fun. By myself or with others. Freezing hands, only my fathers white cotton socks but didn’t care. Go, go, go. So enjoyable listening about all your subjects. Because of you I have my round glass kitchen table de orated for different holidays of occasions. I never did that before, but after seeing your gorgeous table settings, it inspired me from this time forward. Yes, so many things go back k to our memories of our childhood. Thanks for the memories. ❤️
I love that you started your video with Roy Clark, that was great to see again. I'm in my early 50's but I still remember him, he was very good. I love that gift you got, the little bowl, very cool. Be safe and warm, Miss Pat, God bless you!
Happy, Happy Birthday to Edna! How wonderful that you still keep in touch with each other! I miss the snow days of my youth too! Sledding down the hills, ice skating, building snow men and snow forts! The smell of wet woolen mittens warming on the radiators after we came in from the cold for some hot cocoa and toast! Oh what wonderful memories! That’s what I love about your channel Pat! All the marvelous memories! Thanks! 💙💙
I used to collect horse statues, and dolls called Muffy Doll.I wasnt allowed barbies...but let me tell you a cute little story. About My neighbor and best friend who was a boy, one year younger than me. we used to hang out up in the filbert trees in his yard, cracking the nuts with our teeth and eating them..they were so delicious. we also had two forts in our yards which split the two yards up. we would sit inside the large and long bushes and listen to people walking by and chatting. we also had the other fort up in the rafters of his garage. where we kept our favorite comic books. I had little lulu and Tubby, Nancy and Sluggo, all the Archie, Betty, Veronica and Jughead! We used to go up there to read our mad magazines and comics, and drink our rootbeer or orange soda and creamsodas! One day my friend told me he had a secret up in his room in the house, so I straggled up there after him, when we got to the almost top of the stairs he started fiddling around with the step. He got it opened and pulled out a shoe box and inside were the most beautiful barbies with wonderful clothing , dresses, capris and tiny little shoes and pretty blouses.! He said Im showin you this because you are my best friend, so please dont tell any body else. I pinky sweared and we took the box up to our fort and played dolls for awhile. sometimes I had extra fabric from my crafts and we would sew skirts and tops for the barbies! He was a regular little boy who played sports, climbed fences and trees, skate boarded and did guy things with the other kids in our area!So I kepy Js secret until my adult years then once in awhile I might tell the story to a close friend. The last of 5th grade J and I lost touch ,because his family was moving to the east coast. for his fathers job. The movers took a day or two to pack them up, and as the family waved and drove off I knew we would probably never see each other again. I went up to look at our garage fort one last time, and right in the middle of the room was a beautiful shoebox with a golden bow and a note attached, it said ...To my best friend from her best pal always! J.
Granny Pat, I love Roy Clark, he has always been so cute, and yes he is a great gituar player! Are you having a silver thaw? thats what they call it in this west coast. the worst one was back in the 1950's! everything was coated in ice and you couldnt go anywhere because the roads were so slick!! I remember our refridgerator an Amana, and it had a tiny little ice freezer about 12" by 6 " s! Well I am glad you are here to keep us entertained! I love the flattering effect your new hair do gives you! we had to wear dads socks for mittens with bread bags over them, a warm coat, our rubbers with thick socks, the boots fit over our shoes! and then a warm scarf! we would go over to a park by our neighborhood called FernHill Park! It had some wonderful hills and there were pine and fir trees interspersed all over! anyway, not many kids had sleds so we used cardboard boxes or big peices of cardboard to jump on and fly down those hills! It is sad the kids these days dont come out to play with friends anymore! wd used to have a blast, in all seasons 💖💖⛄⛄❄❄
@@barbarahouser2193 Can you imagine kids building stilts today by nailing Carnation Cans to long boards? That was one of the fun things we did. Daddy always had left over boards in our dirtfloor basement.
Oh Granny Pat I love that idea!...I had forgotten all about stilts! I remember trying them out but fell off and banged my knee! I like the can idea though! SadlyThese kids dont even know what they missed. My grandson is 12 now and he has been playing drums Since he was 5...he is very good at it. At least he doesnt spend all his time on his phone and computer! I asked my husband to pick me up some drum sticks so I could practice at it! In my will I left my grand boy both of my beautiful guitars that I have had for at least 50 Years!. I still play and it keeps my hands nice and stretched out! 😁
You’re such a delight! My mom would rub Vaseline on our faces and out to play in the snow we’d go! Mom said.. if your brother cries you all will come in.I said why do we bother, he always cries! We lived across from a farm and as soon as one cow mooed, we started for the back porch. He was sobbing and we decided no snow play if we have to take him! I still call him my BOTHER! 🙂 Keep warm! ⛄️❄️❤️ Trish , NE Ohio.
Yes, I understand. My sister would stay out ‘til she was frozen. Mama would have to drag her in the house. Me - I stood at the window and nearly froze just watching her through the window.

Spindles? So many interesting topics! We lived close to the Delaware River and a tributary ? we called the “creek” ran down along the bottom of the street where I lived. I think in those days no one was controlling pollution and in summer at low tide a not so pleasant odor emanated. But in winter when it snowed it was a sight to behold. It became a Currier and Ives wonderland for us kids. If it snowed on a school day they’d interrupt the Today Show to announce the local school closings. I can’t think of a thing more thrilling than hearing your school would be closed. A shadow of that feeling remains when I imagine those moments. I remember snow getting down in my boots freezing my feet yet I refused to go home. Yes, kids are missing a lot. It’s not snowing here but I made a meatloaf yesterday and I’m glad I did as I don’t feel like cooking today. So thanks for coming on to chat. Stay warm.❤

@ I forgot to finish my story (I always do that). It had to do with ‘gloom, despair, and then I remembered hearing RC playing Malaguena on his guitar. He was fascinating. Later, I remembered coming home from work one day and heard music behind Jan’s closed bedroom door. Little did I know my 16-yr-old daughter was playing Malaguena on her 12-string guitar. I nearly flipped out. She was going to enter the Miss Kentucky contest a couple of years later, and at the last minute, backed out. She needed a sponsor who could train her for the competition. Those things cost money. Does that explain?
@chitchatwithgrannypat7900 no reason needed. He was a great musician. All the best ones sadly gone. I'm very fond of Hoyt Axton. Listen to Della and the dealer. It sends my foot tapping 😊
I remember that ice storm in Indiana if that’s the same one./I was a Roy Clark fan, too. (Correction) The ice storm that I remember in Indiana was back in the 70’s and didn’t last that long. But my oldest daughter was a baby and our house got pretty cold before the power came back on. She slept through it all bundled up so she never knew about it.
Most likely ice storm of 2003. I was driving home from Indiana the night it began. I kept seeing white bushes in the highway median. Couldn’t figure what they were. Got up the next morning to everything covered in ice.

Happy Birthday to your friend Edna🎉❤

At least he doesnt spend all his time on his phone and computer! I asked my husband to pick me up some drum sticks so I could practice at it! In my will I left my grand boy both of my beautiful guitars that I have had for at least 50 Years!. I still play and it keeps my hands nice and stretched out! 😁
@ Fantastic! It is amazing how fulfilling a person’s life can be with a special talent. You and your grandson are very fortunate.
You’re such a delight! My mom would rub Vaseline on our faces and out to play in the snow we’d go! Mom said.. if your brother cries you all will come in.I said why do we bother, he always cries! I still call him my BOTHER! 🙂 Keep warm! ⛄️❄️❤️ Trish , NE Ohio.
