Peterson allegedly HATED the opening sequence of The Six Million Dollar Man.
I guess you can't blame him. Who wants their biggest accident immortalized in pop culture for eternity?!?

Neil Armstrong ejected from at least two of the lunar landing training vehicles
All of these test flights were done at Edwards AFB!!!!!!!
When at Edwards AFB in 1964-late 1965 I was a ground crew mechanic 43151E jet engine four and more. Crewed as ground crew a TB-58 Hustler bomber chase for the XB-70. Went on the be a crew chief on the C-141A and C-130E. I am now 76 and those days at Edwards where with out doubt some of the best days of my life.
"SIMULATE" the low lift-to-drag ratio???? There was nothing "simulated" about it!!!
When I was a kid in the early 70s, I had a toy X15. I thought it was the coolest thing. Wasn't until I was in my 30s I found out Armstrong was a pilot in it. Then the X15 was even cooler :)
Thank you for letting us experience the thrills and appreciate the determination of these great aero-scientists and brave pilots to venture into the unknown at a time when high speed and rocket technology were literally in its infancy. A salute to NASA and the american people.
Col. Steve Austin does not recommend this airframe.
Super documentary! Much love from The Netherlands!
