Wow! I've been wedging me 5th wheel handle puller against the brake peddle and what ever I could wedge it against. Thank you so much for this very simple alternative!!!
Sure learned something new on checking brake lights! Generally, I've always been backed up to something to check for that "red glow",but, it's always good to have a back up test for just in case. Thanks!
If you don't have a hand brake With the truck off and in gear Put a stick in between the seat and the brake and adjust the seat to keep tension on the brake to keep them applied . Wouldn't hurt to use wheel chocks especially if your on an incline
Also if you don't have a bungee cord. Use the seat belt, I have used the seat belt in Kenworth, Peterbilts, Freightliners, and Volvo's. it works perfect..
I don't know about the newer trucks like yours but I know that on my truck and all the ones I've driven over the years I could just pull the trolley bar down and get out. That must be a Volvo thing. But on the classic xl freightliners and 379 Peterbilt's and any KW I've driven it was like that
Good tips from u and community but i have trolley break company truck. Back to back works best for me but the pig tail likes to move going down the road and the lights will blink on off.how can i stop this.
Ok so you do know that when you have flashers on that is how you check your brake lights too! I have been only driving since 2007 but that is how i was trained to check my trailer brake lights!
i wedge the cab tilt bar on the pedal and jam the other end against the seat, with the brake pedal stuck down because it can not return back, the brake lights stay on. My Transport manager wandered what I was doing when he saw me get the cab tilt bar out and asked me. (Btw I drive a 7.5t GVM Cab over)
Great tip, especially the "checking the air brakes too." I just asked a trucker friend of mine that a few days ago, he said if the dash blinker works, the back lights are ok. Is that true? How do you check the white reverse lights? Does a 2x4 on the brake pedal work?
I just subscribed to your-site, well done video Sir; and I like the use of various cams and good editing! “Trucker Josh and faithful companion riding shotgun Diesel” told me about you. Who am I? My name is Mike A. Drover, out of NJ. Age 55 male; and look forward to watching your vids and enjoying the ride. As always, thanks’ for taking the time to make this video! And I support this site. ~M~ PS: never edit out.
Bart Klok says that trajler brakes are not allowed in Europe. I don't see how that could be safe for stopping suddenly on wet pavement. Trailer brakes help avoid jackknifing! Sure saved my lunch!

I no longer truck but subscribed because it's kinda fun to remember the life. BTW I check my lights by backing up to bldgs, etc.
Thanks you Indiana Jack for your great TIP
Great advice!! Thanks for sharing that information.
I get piece of 2x4 and wedge it between the service brake pedal and seat.
That's a great tip, Jack. Thanks!
Great tip Jack, I was wondering the same thing.
Also if you don't have a bungee cord. Use the seat belt, I have used the seat belt in Kenworth, Peterbilts, Freightliners, and Volvo's. it works perfect..
Ah thanks bro Ima try it right now for fun lol
Good idea. Sometimes the belts can be short though, especially if somebody has to do a quick repair and you're up
Awesome job on the video thank you very much
also a good way to see if the brakes are out of adjustment as well
Neat, Never would of thought of that.

Fascinating man thanks

Even though this is an older video it is very helpful. Thanks
+Miss Ginny Bell thanks Ginny
Do the parking brakes need to be released when applying the trailer service brakes?

Thanks my guy
How do u replace lights when they are bolted like that?
Good tips from u and community but i have trolley break company truck. Back to back works best for me but the pig tail likes to move going down the road and the lights will blink on off.how can i stop this.
how do you trouble shoot no brake lights on your trailer?
Ok so you do know that when you have flashers on that is how you check your brake lights too! I have been only driving since 2007 but that is how i was trained to check my trailer brake lights!
There nothing about your statement that's correct. The 4ways has nothing to do with brake lites
Your smart thanks

we got abs by law ...and whit a trailer brake the abs does not work good therefor it is not allowed
Great thanks
Too bad the new trucks don't have a johnny bar no more 😢
How will you do it when the manufacturers stop installing the spike on new-model trucks? Yes, the SPIKE is going away.
I don't have one of those hand breaks
hoosier buddy:)
I checked my brake trailer lights asking on CB radio another tailgater truck drivers, Jajaja
Why do some trucks have disc brakes on the steer wheels? Is that to stop the truck if the air pressure goes out?
do u com to maine
Too bad these new trucks removed the trailer brake handle
If your Flashers work I'm sure the break lites will work also .
WRONG
Just get a C.B and ask ....we must work as lazy as possible
