There were also quiet storm artists in the '70s and '90s. Some of those listed above for the '80s, actually spanned the '70s, '80s, '90s and beyond. A singer who came to prominence in the '90s and shares some similarities vocally to Anita Baker, and whom I think you will like is Toni Braxton. She was the one who actually had the hit with "Un-Break My Heart" in 1996-97, not Mary J. Blige as you say at 11:52 . Toni Braxton won Best Female Pop Vocal Performance at the 39th Annual Grammy Awards in 1997 for this song.
There was this magazine called "Ebony" back in the day and there was a cover that had "who is the best Whitney, Janet, or Anita Baker" there was no classes were taught that day for we all had our favorites and War ensued.

So I really really really appreciate you reacting to it. My hope was that the next video (Zach) would make it up to you and the subscribers who tune in just for funny commentary on visuals. 😂♥️

The “Quiet Storm” was huge back in the day for radio listeners!!! You had your dedicated time slots and your favorite DJ!!! This was a time when you had variety in the R&B genre, and the slow jam/ballad was king!!! You had a good group of artists whose songs would really only play during the “Quiet Storm” and they were still huge!!!
Love to see you do Phyllis Hyman and all her heart-felt songs like ... "You Know How to Love Me" "Living All Alone" "Old Friend" "Living in Confusion" "The Answer is You" "I Refuse to be Lonely"
A Week 2 is a must. Good Love, Body and Soul, Caught up in the Rapture, Angel, Just Because. Love that y’all did an Anita Baker week and you LOVED IT! ❤ Cool reactions! 🔥😎 Give Janet another week too: Pleasure Principle, Nasty, Miss You Much, Love Will Never Do Without You, Black Cat.
I fell in lovvvvvve with this song as a kid. I used to just keep rewinding this tape. She was my first concert at 8. Yes I was an old soul lol. Anita was (and is) prime time moms cleaning the house music 😂
Dunno why but “Rhythm of love" is my favorite album. The title track and "my funny valentine" are my favs. Guess it’s coz it’s very jazzy and I love jazz.
Anita’s Greatest Hits is my go to playlist when I’m trying to get through a rough workday. I have been a fan for the last 30+ years ❤. You may like some of Patti Labelle’s 80s slow jams as well. They have a jazzy element too. “If only you knew”, “On my own”, “If you ask me to”, “somebody loves you baby

Perhaps Phyllis Hyman and Angela Bofill (who recently passed), also from the '80s, have a similar sound to Anita Baker. Another female artist from that era is Stephanie Mills. However, her sound leaned more toward R&B eather than jazz. All are fantastic singers.
