- Hello everyone and welcome to my Maleficent Crown DIY Tutorial!!! I was asked by many of you to do this tutorial and I love your Feedback and I'll always do my best to do what you ask!
This video only shows how to do the Crown not the horns ! The horn are from Hottopic.com so please stop with the negativity ;)

To do the cap/ crown all you need is a Wigs cap,Electrical tape, Scissors, and a piece of material that looks like snake skin in black or you can spray paint it black.
For the horns I used my Disney's Maleficent Deluxe Horns I order from www.hottopic.com. You can also find the horn on www.disney.com or www.elope.com

My Short Story: I consider myself a Living Doll because of my rare disease that affect my body's muscles called Becker's Muscular Dystrophy. It affects my legs and arms making it hard for me to move, walk, stand-up by myself (if I get seated somewhere I literally can't get up on my own until someone picks me up lol kind of like a doll)
But I wont let this get me down!! I want to work hard to bring a awareness to this disease and how to just enjoying life after a major diagnosis!!
What helps me (other than my wonderful husband and his family) is my love for arts of all kinds! I paint ,tattoo, draw Anime along with many other things, I love cooking and my love for cosmetics & makeup effects! So please stay tuned and let have many Adventures together!!

i liked the tutorial but you never showed how to actually make the horns thats what i needed to know
Magdalene Mele this is just a video showing how to do the horned cap not the horns themselves but I do have websites in the description box showing where you might still be able to find there horns

Mould tinfoil into the shape of maleficents horn. Hot glue and wrap around the whole thing with string. (Strong craft string) cover the whole thing I black electrical tape (It needs to be electrical tape) and voila you have a set of horns

the horns are store bought ...she makes the head piece and attaches store bought horns...I found them at Spirit Halloween stores...

Hi Amber, just saw your tutorial on making a Maleficent head piece, loved it! I have a question for you, when I make the head piece and use the wig cap, I put wig cap on my head first and then proceed with the black electrical tape?? It seemed so much easier using maniquin head but I don't necessarily want to go out and buy one, please let me know...
Yes I would use your own head and then have someone help you with just the base, after you get the base down it would be fine to put it on a fake head or stuff it so it holds it shape. ^_^ and then continue with the rest ^_^

Hey amber I know you suggest to use your own head but I feel more comfortable using a manakin. Will it still work? And can you reuse this because I need to wear it multiple times. Also does hair fit inside it? Thanks.
You should make the base part on your own head. That way it fits you head shape. You can have some one help you just with that part. The you can do the rest off your head.
It is re-useable but don't store it where the sun can hit it for hours each day. Store it in a cool area like your closet ^_^
I have long curly hair and my hair fits just fine. That's why it's important to do the base shape on your head while your wearing a wig cap ^_^

I'm doing a genderbending look of Maleficent ! Thank for the help just one question i'm not sure i have understand well. We must do it on our own head ? without using manniquin? but for the back it's seems difficult no ? ^^' and for the horn if i order one I received two horn not only one ^^' Thanks for the help
Alexis Dupont that is an awesome costume plan! The main part or this cap needs to be done on your head , you are able to have someone help you just get the base down because if it's not done on your head it won't fit you correctly
One you get a base down then you can put that on something else to help you do the rest.
I was able to do it without help so it is possible to do it alone also
For the horns , you should get both in the set of you order one from online ^_^

I am having trouble keeping the electrical tape to the wig cap. When I take the crown off the wig cap separates from the headpiece. I don’t know what to do. Please helpppp!!!!

I only have the makeup tutorial and the cap DIY☺️ but if your doing Maleficent's collar I used cardboard because you can bend it and then I put electrical tape to make it look like leather ;) then I used a long piece of black fabric, threw it over my shoulders and pined it to my wrists😃

You will have to reinforce the inside with electrical tape also to help it keep its shape. I would suggest doing a couple of layers on the inside.
I used really strong electric tape and just did one layer on the inside to help keep the shape

Can I use black duct tape or is electrical better?
Lydia Waters electric tap looks more like fake leather than electric tape would but you can use it if you like ^^

Horrible idea! Spent almost 2 hours for the whole thing to shrink when I had to pry it from my daughters head. It would not go back on and could not be salvaged. What a stupid idea and huge waste of time.

I understand how it could have been difficult for you but I do say that you have to reinforce the inside with the tape, plus the added layers to the top help stabilize everything.
Also the electrical tape should be better quality to help prevent folding and the wig cap helps not to have the tale pull hair or use a foam head which you can find at craft stores.
I have made this several times for other cosplayers and it has worked for others here in the comments so it’s just a matter of technique .
