I thought the EXACT same thing! "Oh man, he's going to pretend to duct-tape these ladders together. Oh, he's taking this joke pretty far. WTF he's actually CLIMBING that thing?! Oh, got me."
Justin, I just swapped out all my shop lights for LED lights and experienced all the benefits you did; brightness, color quality, instant on and sound. They are also not effected by outdoor temperature extremes. The quietness is what really got me. I did not realize how much stress the buzzing created since you habituate yourself to it. I have loved every one of your videos. Your quiet calmness and humor make me look forward to every new video. Keep up the great work!
I have to admit I was against the government phasing out the old incandescent bulbs, effectively telling me what I had to buy, but now that the price of LEDs is dropping like a rock, I can really appreciate the quality of the light they produce and the reduced cost to use them. I worked with fluorescent lights, which also have a distinct buzz in an office setting for years and only noticed how bad it was when we would occasionally lose power. I'm so glad to be out of that environment and can definitely relate to those metal halide lights you tossed. Thanks, Man!!
I noticed you like Edison bulbs. I had a lot of them in my house and recently changed them out with led Edison bulbs. Same k rating, dimmable, and they get brighter than the regular Edison bulbs. Plus my power bill went way down. Those old bulbs you could feel the heat coming off of them. Good show man. I watch your videos before I go outside and work on my shop. I'll try to record my shop build.
Your commentary is great. You use sarcasm perfectly and I chuckle way too much. Thanks for that. EVERY time I see you've posted a new video I seriously can't wait to watch it.
Dude, you totally got me with that ladder gag. My jaw dropped when you pulled out the step ladder, and then I actually spoke aloud to the screen, "Don't do it!" Nice one... And, as always, love the videos.
So you've had them for over 4 years now. I just ordered eight for my 40x60 pole barn. How are they holding up for you after all this time? Am i going to regret this purchase? Thanks for sharing. Looks great.
LED lighting still amazes me as to how bright they are for so little electricity. At only 200 watts, those ones you installed look way brighter then the other ones you removed.
It looks a lot better. LED technology has changed lot. Now it is a lot cheaper and they have a a lot better light than before. The CRI of those is over 80, that's good.
Early in the video I thought what was that humming, then you got around to replacing them lights and the difference is astonishing, both in quality of light and the massive noise reduction
It's not code in any states that I am aware of to put insulated solid romex wire into conduit or into Flexible conduit. The wires can be affected by the heat contained inside the conduits. You need to use stranded or solid individual wire.
Thanks for the post....next week my up and coming workshop over in Brightwood, OR is having power pulled into it and I too will need to be outfitting it with lights as well. Thanks for the post!!
Nice video, thanks for taking the time to make it.. If one painted the inside of the barn bright white, it makes a night to day difference and brighten things up. My shop is bright white and bench tops also white and it makes a huge difference as the whole interior acts as a giant light reflector. That does cost extra money though of course for paint or paneling, and you lose the cool rustic wood look but just thought I'd throw that out there in case some people want to maximize lighting efficiency, white interior reflects all the light you already paid for. Perhaps you're going for the cool wood look, so that is fine too, just means it absorbs more light rays that's all...
Great looking shop! I couldn't help but notice when you took video outside of the weather, it looks like you have a couple ash Tree's that have succumb to EAB
LMAO... You had me going when you started duck taping that extension ladder to the step ladder. I was like, "WTF is he doing..." "He can't be serious" "No, dude, that's going to break...lol" Then it hit me... Nice troll man.... Nice troll... Well, played good Sir. FYI: The lights look amazing.
Dude I love your methodical approach, your work ethic shines through in your content creation as being efficient yet so tender! >D Since that trio project you did for Frank Howarth and others, I have really digged your videos when I get the chance to watch them. I also appreciate your mannerisms man, you sound like a cool, calm, collected dude with a great family! Aaan that is always aaawesome! Keep it up man, you are an inspiration to me!
Still patiently waiting to see more about the chandelier... Also instead of the spacer and running the conduit off the wall look into getting a conduit bender to bend "box offsets" into to pipe to run tight against the wall, cleaner more professional look. Everything looks amazing though, enjoy watching all of your videos.
If you go to your local supplier inside the box there is a spec chart in the light box with all the info needed. I personally would install a Led striplight seeing your ceiling is only 8 feet and is more economical.
Those are really really nice. I am really into metal halides though, I just think they’re pretty cool but they’re pretty inefficient compared to LED in a workplace.
you don't need a 3 wire btw. in those situations you can use the white wire as what is called a switch leg, just mark it with black tape in the box. or just google wire schematics(white wire as switch leg) also if you are using conduit no need to use romex. Great looking barn, just found your channel, nice video had me with the extension ladder bit too.
Some folks were thinking the greenish light was affecting your brain, but there is at least one other of your videos where you made a similar sight gag. Yep, that humming is way irksome but - unlike tinnitus - you had a fairly simple, albeit height scary, fix - keep wearing the hearing protection and give your ears their peace. Maybe buy a nice quiet pipecutter for future work with conduit en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pipecutter Another good one for the collection.
The extension ladder gag was awesome! My thoughts: he can’t be serious, dang he’s serious, thank God he wasn’t serious. lol.
My exact thought process as well.
@Danny Santos If he was serious about using this Jerry-rigged extension, The Mom would kill him if the ladder didn't!
The boy got brains.
I thought the EXACT same thing!
"Oh man, he's going to pretend to duct-tape these ladders together. Oh, he's taking this joke pretty far. WTF he's actually CLIMBING that thing?! Oh, got me."

Ha! I loved the bit with the taped ladder! "Pretty sure that's why they're called extension ladders." 😂.
Anxiety attack when you were clambering up that taped-up ladder, don't scare us like that again :D
I have to admit I was against the government phasing out the old incandescent bulbs, effectively telling me what I had to buy, but now that the price of LEDs is dropping like a rock, I can really appreciate the quality of the light they produce and the reduced cost to use them. Drake is an excellent companion. He could see that you were doing something 'out of the ordinary' and was concerned... Definitely a keeper!!!
I really want to know why there are so many dislikes on one of the most genuine videos ever.
I can't believe it. Another video after months of silence . Drake is a star! Thanks for sharing.
Wooooo two videos in a week.
Just found Rainfall Projects. Nice barn ! You do very good work, nice attention to detail.
Your videos are so peaceful and I love the quality of your work. You do excellent filming and editing as well. Thank you for putting this out there!
Your commentary is great. You use sarcasm perfectly and I chuckle way too much. Thanks for that. EVERY time I see you've posted a new video I seriously can't wait to watch it.
Beautiful barn/shop.
Dude, you totally got me with that ladder gag. My jaw dropped when you pulled out the step ladder, and then I actually spoke aloud to the screen, "Don't do it!" Nice one... And, as always, love the videos.
It looks much better with the new lights! Thanks for the video!
Those new high bay lights make a huge difference. Good call on the swap-out.
Looks great man! It's insane how far the barn has come since I was out there last summer. Can't wait to come visit again at some point!
pro tip : watch series on kaldrostream. Me and my gf have been using them for watching all kinds of movies lately.
@Kristopher Grady Definitely, I have been watching on Kaldrostream for months myself :D
Was a bit worried about you on that ladder. Awesome results. Best barn I've ever seen.
So glad you are making videos again!
Good lights are well worth it. That buzzing sound would drive me crazy also. I just swapped out the lights in my shop also. It makes a big difference.
Love the barn, just changed out the lights in my shop to LED and they are great. Glad to have you back.
It looks a lot better. LED technology has changed lot. Now it is a lot cheaper and they have a a lot better light than before. The CRI of those is over 80, that's good.
The barn is looking beautiful!
You are a real "belt and suspenders" guy to tape up your wire nuts like that! Great video, and the lighting in the barn looks fantastic.
yet another great video. I love how Drake looks out for you.
Nice video about installing LED, very enlightening! 👍 😁
Early in the video I thought what was that humming, then you got around to replacing them lights and the difference is astonishing, both in quality of light and the massive noise reduction
Beautifully done. Thanks for uploading.
You, my man, are a BOSS! In NY we’d need a crew of people to do what you do.
Yeah man. I always enjoy watching your videos!
It's not code in any states that I am aware of to put insulated solid romex wire into conduit or into Flexible conduit. The wires can be affected by the heat contained inside the conduits. You need to use stranded or solid individual wire.
Article 334.15. It has changed a little over the years. Some is acceptable, some is questionable.
We used the type of light fixtures for a cozy lounge/bar back in the 1980’s and the LIGHTS LIT UP over the pool table too. ⌛️💡🔦👍👍👍👍
Yep, good one with the ladder. I was watching that saying "dude you can't be serious". Nice shop and nice lights!
Love it.... this barn is turning out incredible man.
Love your barn and dog..👍
I'm glad you're back
I usually convert the MH luminaries to LED using Satco or Keystone retrofit lamps bypassing the ballast of course.
Your barn looks like a barn bistro now with those tables on the loft. I like how you had the chuckit on your tool belt. 😄
Simple and important to you. A great project. Thanks for sharing!
It's really quite interesting to see how your wiring in the US is so different to the UK regs.
Thanks for the post....next week my up and coming workshop over in Brightwood, OR is having power pulled into it and I too will need to be outfitting it with lights as well. Thanks for the post!!
Best on the Internet... I loved the ladder extension - heart in mouth while I wondered if you actually were going to climb up...
The new lights make the wood inside look a whole lot nicer
Nice video, thanks for taking the time to make it.. If one painted the inside of the barn bright white, it makes a night to day difference and brighten things up. Great looking shop! I couldn't help but notice when you took video outside of the weather, it looks like you have a couple ash Tree's that have succumb to EAB
Do you have plans for that barn? love the style.
what a dream WOW! Love that barn man
Nice barn! I was laughing out loud when you started improvising your tall ladder. That was funny!
I've been watching your barn video's. I never notice cob webs. Do you have Merry Maids come in weekly to sweep the roof and walls?
Looks great. I'm going to put these up in my shop.
Great job on the video!! The ladder gag had me saying I hope he isn’t serious...😧😲
Salut, je suit ta chaîne depuis un bon moment et c'est toujours agréable de voir tes réalisations . Bon courage et à très bientôt .
Drake looks amazing in new light!😂👊🏽
looking good, I would've put a little age to that conduit to let it blend into the woodwork a little more?
best channel on youtube
LMAO... You had me going when you started duck taping that extension ladder to the step ladder. I was like, "WTF is he doing..." "He can't be serious" "No, dude, that's going to break...lol" Then it hit me... Nice troll man.... Nice troll... Well, played good Sir.

Dude you're nuts even going to the top of the A frame ladder! 🤣
Another phenomenal video.
Dude I love your methodical approach, your work ethic shines through in your content creation as being efficient yet so tender! >D

MAN I love your stuff!!
I installed 14 of those in a 50 by 30 Warehouse they're beyond bright and the dimmer function is a pain in the butt to find a dimmer for
Still patiently waiting to see more about the chandelier...

great video! love seeing more of your stuff
Must be such a great workshop to spend time in
Beautiful shop and great video. If you “thumbs down” this video just stop watching UA-cam shop videos. There is nothing that will please you.
I love led lights for many reasons. Mostly though it’s how little the cost to run compared to other types of light.
Fantastic channel and content brother!! Super glad I found it!😊👊
Ladder looked ok to me 😂😂 dude it’s looking so great and it’s been the best to follow along. Cheers Blaise
Haha 3:37 Drakes favorite tool in your toolbelt!
I'm not dissing you. I'm coment in on how far we have come in 100 years since the good ol days of fire.
Muy bueno, no tardes tanto en subir un video.. Antes lo hacias todos los Domingos, un saludo desde Argentina!!
How many lights are in this barn?! It'll be more light than barn soon! :)
I have an 8 foot ceiling one car garage . Would one of these work or is it too much or put off too much heat? thanks
If you go to your local supplier inside the box there is a spec chart in the light box with all the info needed. I personally would install a Led striplight seeing your ceiling is only 8 feet and is more economical.
Those are great! You are very handy
FYI, the safety cable should not be attached to the same point as the fixture. I'm not berating just informing.
I hate industrial lighting buzz. I'd have swapped them too. LED ftw!
Those are really really nice. I am really into metal halides though, I just think they’re pretty cool but they’re pretty inefficient compared to LED in a workplace.
Red Green would be proud.
“I wanted to make sure it was safe”
Proceeds to climb up a ladder that’s duct taped to another laser LOL glad you are safe. Love the final look!
SUPER NICE!
The green from the halide is super apparent when they’re contested with the led corner.
I think Labs have an undying love for boxes being torn apart
looking good brother, love your videos. always nice to see on the homepage when you got a new video uploaded!
YAY A NEW VIDEO!
Very cool, thank you for sharing your amazing video. God bless you and your family
LED bulb wattages are always a bit confusing because we're so used to how inefficient incandescent bulbs are. Gotta look at the lumens instead!
If you use that ladder system you want to make sure you use Gorilla duct tape, its rated for that kind of stuff
Nice job, like your electrical skills .... Amount other skills.. 😎
Love your barn project
you don't need a 3 wire btw. in those situations you can use the white wire as what is called a switch leg, just mark it with black tape in the box. or just google wire schematics(white wire as switch leg) also if you are using conduit no need to use romex. Great looking barn, just found your channel, nice video had me with the extension ladder bit too.
Extension ladder could've worked, just should've added more duck tape :D
I like what you do and how you do it
Great video as usual. Thanks!
Had me going for a bit on the extension ladder.
Good job on your videos
What a difference!!!
