I love it my friend! Have you ever went deep and just set up on a limb (no stand). Thats always fun and im not sure about where you are but here we have alot of great hardwoods with low limbs to climb. You can get really high and you dont have to carry a stand. I usually carry a small saw to clear out a little brush. I have permanent and carry stands. But sometimes i like to go somewhere that hasnt been touched yet during the season. And when i do that i eather hunt a fallen tree or i climb. I have had a lot of luck doing that. That early season rattling brings those big bucks in quick. They dont want any other bucks arounds before rut. Cant blame them lol.
I haven't had the opportunity to hunt Whitetail deer. Hopefully, one of these days! I'm on Vancouver Island and we've got the Black-tailed deer that like to hide really well in the forest😁 I'm still looking this year. One more weekend left to see if I can invite one to come home with me😀
Just a strap hang stand. I put the base of the stand just above the branches below my feet. Usually a fir or spruce; the branches extend outwards and become larger as they go to provide great cover from below.
