What an amazing work! I feel guilty when i remember the firing on the range with our AMX30 (i am a former officer of french Cavalry) on... M24, Sherman, M3 Half Tracks, M47, french EBR... Today, the young gunners on Leclerc tanks shoots.... our AMX30... In the early 80's, i saw AA Half Tracks in service in french artillery regiment to protect 155mm guns. Congratulation for this impressive memory work!
Damn, what an impressive before & after video. Thanks for posting it. Just wish when stuff like this is posted, the owner would tell a bit more about it. Like what it cost as is, the number of hours restoring it, how much he/his friends did on it or having some work parted out and of course, cost of what ever additional parts were needed for a complete restoration. It's also the first quad .50 halftrack I've seen restored. Looking at the clothing of the people as the half track goes around in the field, it's gotta be some where in Europe.
Thank you so much for the positive comments, it really is appreciated - it was a lot of hard work and expense, but the payback is reading the complimentary comments, and the many appreciative riders at the shows and rally's - thank you. Hey Tom Trike, thanks for that information - but, do you really think I didn't know that? Have you ever bought an M14, and tried tracking down a twin .50 turret, and do you not realise that there was a field order to upgrade all twin .50 turrets to quad .50s ?
Nice work.........though I'll bet is was a labor of love. It's kool to be able to tell folks you did it yourself! (with the help of friends, I'm sure) Good luck, stay safe!
Wow, working on one of those would be cooler than having a Ferrari...until it came to driving it on the street. Still, if I lived out in the country I'd be all over one of those!
These quad 50 cal Browning M 2 half tracks were conceived as field anti aircraft units. The one I’ve seen restored and operating. Well done! Where was this?
Jon Blake I know several kids who love these things and want to restore them. Including me. A friend I k ow has a Willys jeep he and his far are doing currently and I want to buy a half track and restore it as well. But it hasebt dies out as much as you think...
If this is a M14 Halftrack why is it equiped with a Quad 50 M2? The M13 (M3 base) and M14 (M5 base) were equiped with a twin Cal 50 M2. The M16 (M3 base) and the M17 (M5 base) were equiped with the Quad 50 M2.
Do you really think I wasn’t aware of that? The twin mounts were superseded by the quads, and all half tracks with twin turrets were upgraded to quads. Which is fortunate because it is difficult enough to find a quad turret, and I personally have never seen a genuine WW2 twin turret for sale,
JackGlide, excellent restoration .. if u get a minute check out the African Quuen Channel on you tube ...its about the halftrack I recovered from, the East African desert. Would appreciate your comments. COL K

Nice job. Did a 44 GPW in the 70s before the internet and parts were scarce in those days
