Could you please edit this pinned comment to let people know that the movement system was slowed down and that 640 is not a reachable goal anymore. thank you for making this video, it really helped me.
+Soliton FPV this is exactly what happened to me haha. At first I thought I couldn't do it properly because I was noticeably speeding up but getting nowhere near 640 onscreen and I thought to myself: "I bet they patched it to be slower at some point between this video and me starting playing". So thanks!
If anyone downloads this and tries to play please be aware you literally will get destroyed for awhile until you get better please stay vigilant and practice practice you WILL get better so be patient
Yeah that happened to me alot. Im about level 10 now though and Im starting to come 2nd or 3rd in lobbies with several level 40+ players which is good progress I think :) still very hard though haha
People in this day and age just want trophies for participating lol. Get good and learn from the people better than you. That's 80% of the fun. The constant growth in skill set and the community are what make arena stooters an addiction
The Quake community is so helpful and welcoming. Almost everyone I've played with has the best sportsmanship of any competitive gamers. I've loved Quake since I was a wee child and I haven't regretted it. Shout out to my fellow Quakers!
Fun fact, strafe jumping was originally a glitch that was adopted as a gameplay mechanic. The reason CounterStrike has strafe jumping, is because the original CS was built on a modified Quake engine.
Yeah, if you look at this with realism in mind, it becomes clear that it evolved from players exploiting some janky physics. Skiing in the Tribes games is a similar case.
It's interesting like most techs in classic video games were exploits/glitches, but it also makes sense if you think about it. Combos were an error in SF 2, Strafe jumping was an error of Quake's engine vectoring, wavedashing was an exploit of Super Smash Bros Melee.....who knows how many more examples of this are out there. So many mechanics were born from players pushing the limits of games. It is basically the whole premise of speedruns lol
This is a very nice guide for beginners to get a grip on quake movement system! I'll just add a few notes about practical applications for those who wants to get more into the topic: 1. The most common switching patterns of full-beat strafe jumping are single and double beat, which means that you change the direction you look every one or two jumps. It helps you to keep your way more or less straight (if you need it to be straight of course). 2. While full-beat is easier to understand, another technique called "half-beat" requires much less mouse movements to increase your speed and maintain the straight path. A lot of pro players prefer using half-beat instead of full-beat. I hope FrothyOmen'll make a video about it some day. 3. You can get around 500ups with one well-executed circle-jump, so this is quite important technique. But in order to do so you must move your mouse at the right speed. If you move it too fast or too slow, you can lose all the momentum. Trick jumps like "bridge to rail" or "nyx walljump across the central pit" on Blood covenant map are good examples of drills for circle jumping.
LarryHWK can you go through step by step what a circle jump requires? This is what I am trying (to no avail). Click forward and right, turn the mouse 90 degrees and jump. It doesnt do much. Why is circle jumping such a mystery? Why cant someone just make a list of buttons and movements?
You want to run in an arc on the ground by holding Forwards and Right and turning your character smoothly by moving your mouse to the right (where the circle part of the name comes in) this gives you the speed boost, you then jump to maintain that speed (there is no friction in the air so you don't slow down) Imagine a small circle on the floor, and try to run along it, it's important to keep your mouse movements smooth, you're not trying to instantly turn 90 degrees, you're trying to run in a tight arc to gain speed.
so I just started playing Quake Champions after the free weekend, and I have such an odd sensation playing it. I'm a reasonably experienced tf2 player ("only" 900 hours + about that much watching more experienced players and learning from them), so Quake makes me feel this strange blend of novelty, and nostalgia. Team Fortress started as a quake mod, and so much of it's design was clearly borrowed from quake. soldier, my most played class, has a rocket launcher that feels identical to the one in quake champions, (just with harsher damage fall off mechanics), and I use a reskin of the base rocket launcher called the original that looks and sounds like the rocket launcher from quake 1. on top of that, the design of the maps, and the need to fight over power ups reminds me of playing games like halo, perfect dark, and time splitters in middle school, so while I've only just started to touch this game, and everything is new and shiny, I also feel like I've been playing it my entire life, it's so weird... but I love it :) also, the movement in this game is WAAAY different from the air-strafing I'm used to in tf2 and source engine games, so I'm really glad I found these videos!
Airstrafing is just a subset, it's actually emulated on some specific champions like sorlag, who works like tf2 airstrafing except with fatty hops. Other mods and derivatives of quake emphasized different movement techniques and methods, and most of them have a couple of champions in qc who use those techniques.
alphagamer774 yeah, I watched his sorlag tutorial right after making this comment, and she's a bit more like what I'm used to. I just wish they had a champion with air strafing, and ranger's self damage reduction combined. Rocket jumping regularly as anarki is suicide, and only marginally better on sorlag thanks to her extra armor, but you can't get away with it as much as ranger does, which sucks for me because he can't airstrafe :( Still love the game though, and fortunately strafe jumping provides enough mobility for free as ANY character, so I don't feel like I'm really missing out.
It's about time someone made a nice, simple clear vid about how strafe jumping works, I'm surprised how simple it actually is - most guides make it seem way more complicated. I would have liked to see a bit more examples of circle jumping but still a great primer. Thank you Frothy.
Lol I remember doing Half Life DM, and using my scroll wheel so much that in got stuck inside the mouse. Had to throw the mouse out, then beg my brother to borrow his 🤣
i've been watching alot of quake lately and been wanting to play but had no idea where to start. Your videos have helped me to understand enough to get started, Much appreciated
Hands down the best guide, finally someone that has actual knowledge of why strafe jumps exists, and what causes it. Still, i wish there was a little example of other strafe jumps styles, and mention of edge clipping. For those unaware, once reached a certain speed you can clip through edges, allowing you to use tight trajectories.
I'm really grateful that you're making these tutorials for new players so that the community can expand more instead of people just rage quitting it. I've been onto Quake and other arena shooters for a while so I'm pretty decent in it but for those who are used to military shooters have trouble in it and often just leave the game. You're preventing that and am again, really obliged to thank you (after seeing what happened to Quake Live, I don't wanna lose QC). Keep this stuff up.
Just started playing Quake a couple of days ago, and this video helped me breach the gap of movement from any other FPS to quake. Thanks a lot, amazing video and information.
I have been a counter-strike player all my life, but you got me into Quake with your great videos. keep up the good work. Not only are you the best Quake UA-camr, but definitely one of the best game channels out there.
Kev G welcome to quake!! It will take some time and many deaths but as long as you keep pushing you will be great! if you ever wanna play with someone you should add me!
Fantastic. I'm really happy to hear that this made the mechanic more clear to you! Just imagine you're *literally* trying to turn on a dime, as the old saying goes!
quake3 has a practice arena for rocket jumping, circle jumping and strafe jumping. Everything in this tutorial is correct this is what you use to learn strafe and circle jumping. great tutorial ty.
Me to its free rn and i can finally use my aiming skills (5k hrs in csgo) and the movement was easy to pickup but i didnt know about the circle jumping and everything so i came here to realy learn it not just know that some movments work better than others xp
If this is implemented like Quake2, the reason strafe jumping lets you accelerate while turning is because they cap the velocity by doing a dot product with your new direction and your current velocity. This is like capping your velocity against a flat wall (aka a plane). If you aim a little to the left or right along that flat wall, you can accelerate just a bit more and reach a higher velocity, and the next frame that "wall" will be a bit further away and adjusted to your new aim direction. Seems Quake Champions has an additional speed cap on top of that.
Just got QC and found your videos! Very helpful, and articulated well. Didn't even know this was a part of the game, gonna have to practice this. Thanks!
Managed to get most mechanics down easily enough, got a quick question though. Is it possible to change direction after you built up speed strafe jumping? I know in a game like counter strike it's easy, but in QC I'm having troubles doing it. I always seem to keep my forward momentum and am unable to turn fluidly with it.
Only with certain champions to my knowledge. I believe Sorlag and Anarki are the only two who have ways to modify direction in air without losing speed. You might want to look into Sorlag. Her jump keeps momentum even if you release w in air, as long as your mouse and keyboard is going in the same direction.
The best Stafe Jump tutorial I have found so far. Thank you! I was doing it very sloppily until I watched your explanation. It's hard to practice in the tutorial area though :p
From a new player, thank you so much for these guides. My first five games or so with new players went well then suddenly I’m getting broomsticks shoved in my ass and I don’t exactly know why. It’s easy to admit someone is better/smarter than me but it’s rough playing and not knowing why they’re so much better. All of these videos have great information and showcase the mechanics and map control I was definitely lacking. Thanks for the hope my dude because I love the hell out of this game!
Nah, there weren't any bots in the games according to the stats page. I'm assuming it was just MMR at work because until I played X amount of games and restarted, I kept getting paired up with more new/lower skilled players compared to the matches now. Despite the low population, I've only had bots in my game twice I believe. The system behaved as it should, though and I'm happy. It was better to get a wake up call sooner than later.
I'm so happy the free weekend was extended. Finally some players I can play with. Arena games' are not easy to master and awesome players are what keeps casual and new players away. I hope this game finds a lot of success. I love playing it, but not when I serve as target practice for a player who's leagues ahead. I doubt it's any fun for them as well. A large player base will make for a fun matchmaking for everyone.
This is a super excellent guide. I have never played an arena shooter or quake at all in my life. So much of this game is super foreign to me. The circle jump seemed to come pretty natural but the strafe jumping was hard to learn and get used to and I'm actually still kind of bad it. This was the most helpful video I found on it so great work. Also, I get wrecked every match due to various deficiencies in my skill set but I have so much fun everytime. Never played a game I enjoyed losing so much! lol
Honestly I've been bingewatching your videos. With regards to quake champions, they're the best out there. They are helping tons and I hope you're still doing them. Regarding just youtube and teaching, you do an amazing job. I don't know what you do full time, but you have what it takes to do amazing things. Best of luck and happiness to you sir!
I came back to this video today to check on something you had mentioned and I thought it would be a good opportunity to tell you I have successfully learned to circle and strafe jump due to this video alone. I'm still working on not bonking corners but I notice with strafe jumping and circle jumping I am better with item control in casual games (DM, TDM) like mega and armor than almost everyone i'm playing with in those games (low mmr i'm sure). Just wanted to say thank you again. There's a lot of videos on this but this is one that taught me. Time to spam your rocket jump/nail climb video next I guess :P
When you have been doing a technique for years... hear about it (Not knowing you already just have done it since quake 1) and finally figure out it actually has a name... and tutorials... LOL damn (MIND BLOWN) seeing something this well done (Seriously i could never explain it myself to others), dude im gonna be pointing all new Quake Champ players to this video from now on I had no idea what the technique was called, no idea how to explain what was simply muscle memory to me..... and here it all is!
For circle jumps, most of the time a sixth of a circle is enough if you do a fast enough of a swipe while on the ground. For circle jumping you want some hard, large quick swipes when when you actually are strafe jumping you want to make smooth, small and slow swipes.
Great video Frothy, im just starting to get into quake champions since release and your guide helped me realise what I was doing wrong and what I could do to improve. Keep up the quality content!!
Hey, I've started watching your QC tutorial videos (obviously because QC went free for two weeks), and I'm just really glad you're getting more exposure and recognition for what you've been doing... anyway, thanks for the tutorial, keep making more QC content and your audience will grow!... as long as the game keeps growing :)
like always, awesome job frothy. This video is a perfect example why I love your guides. whether its quake, tf1 tf2, or any other game, you always make your guides like : assuming this the first time you play a video game ever, here is what you need to know to learn this awesome cool thing. and then you list everything so that even the guy who's missing a little crucial thing to be perfect at it can just pick it up from you video.
Thanks for the videos. I really hope this game catches on bigtime, its hard as hell but a ton of fun. Such a low barrier to entry but incredibly high skill ceiling!
smoked_out i know right. Csgo just needs to use diagonal keys but in quake you need to press forward with a diagonal key to gain speed. On top of that maneuvering while jumping is harder in quake (for me). Still learning the ropes tho cause i only play quake casually.
THANK YOU! I played a ton of Quake III and Live in middle and high school and had these all kinda figured out, but THIS gave me so many useful tips to be more consistant. Take my sub!
I'm surprised people would be confused by the meaning of circle jumping. I figured it out when I was 12 in Quake 3, but then again I had clanmates helping me. I guess it kind of goes to show how it's a "lost art" in some ways.
Yeah it kinda sucks that you have to pay for the custom game since the game already has a lootbox system to generate revenues, but if you really like the game the champions pack upgrade isn't so bad. You do unlock all the champions which would take forever if you played it for free IMO
i like the game but i dont and wont spend money on it, honestly the playerbase is kinda dead or just in zombie mod, this game should go f2p or be sold for $10 at the very most, i literally dont get people in the game to play with, Matchmaking takes a bit long for comfort
Thank you You are seriously the best at teaching these things and this helped so much

And if you fancy Anarki or Sorlag, there's another mechanic called airstrafe (Source engine bunnyhop, or CPMA movement for quakers) that will allow you to keep your speedcap while going around corners. Very vicious that techique is...
The way other channels taught it was too move your mouse side to side while strafing. You describe it better saying that you need to be continuously turning while strafing.
Thanks for your tutorials. I learned to strafe jump back in 1998 on Quake 2but I don't think I could've explained it very well to someone. I don't think I ever did the circle jump, if I did it was unconsciously.
That's interesting, this circle jump mechanic is really just a momentum mechanic, almost... when you look in that direction you kind of throw your weight in that direction as well. That's pretty awesome.
my method of picking up speed (in quake 3 especially) is I don’t have to worry about strafing or circling like you basically showed and explainedat the very end. What I do is when I’m moving forward I jump then the second I hit the floor I jump again and so on. Basically I do the basic bunny hop that majority of quake players use
The I’ve been stuck trying to figure out how to strafe jump for so long! You’re clock example was the best and really did help me kinda learn it, thank you so much :D
I feel like this mechanic originated from some coder fucking up at physics programming in the 90's and then it just sort of stuck and became an industry standard in these types of games.
hehe, "some coder". some coder happens to no other than John Carmack. without this guy, this industry would be in very different state now. guy's a true genious and functions on complete other level than most ppl.
Great guide I watched you learn circle jumping on a stream and had no idea how it worked. Gonna be picking up this game soon so thank you for the guide.
Just to add to this; when you jump, release the jump key and immediately press it again whilst you're in the air, but hold it down until you land and you'll jump again as soon as you land. Then release it, hold again before you land, etc.
Just got the game for free from the E3 thingy and damn, it significantly improved my mobility. About the circle jump tho, probably my best way of interpreting the technique is move to form a letter J or do a simple whip with strafe jumping
This has been a big help, although very frustrating for a guy who's used to tribes style movement. I can regularly get to 500ish with ranger, but topping the 600 UPS movement has been difficult. Granted i've only played 2 or 3 games - rome wasn't built in a day right?
Play Quake Qchampions now 3 weeks and today it was the first time i reached 640 but after this vid i realize that i've made so much wrong, nice tutorial, i defently must test it
I don't even play Quake, but I still tune in for the informative videos. Tried to get a hang of the movement mechanics in Titanfall 2, but I didn't progress past a basic level of competence.
Thank you so much for this! I hadn't gotten how exactly to strafe jump until now! You can check my videos and see how I tried to do and I always got frustrated because I barely got any speed. Thank you so much!
This tricks also does work in Doom singleplayer and multiplayer modes. Also work with half life, team fortress, overwatch etc... So, basically this tricks is work with almost all FPS games
At about 4:08 I say "circle jumping" instead of "strafe jumping." Apologies for the error.
We don't forgive you. :3
What is this? Casual chat?
You better be fucking sorry

Unfortunately, not many new players are playing Quake. Makes it frustrating for new players who are set against people who have played quake for years
Its called 'skill gap', a sign of a very good / healthy game.

Yeah, if I remember correctly, after adding the direction vectors (forward+right or forward/left) they forgot to normalize the result :)
Ungha Bungha so is half life?
i say its still glitch and abused as cheats

yeah no graceful triple rocket stratospheric med bombs or process fast rollouts here
I think quake vq3 strafe physics work like strafe with some demo shields without boots
I've been playing Quake since I could hold a mouse but it's always nice to get a refresher which I desperately needed, great vid. Thanks.
Damn, best Quake movement tutorial I've ever seen! Well done!
It's about time someone made a nice, simple clear vid about how strafe jumping works, I'm surprised how simple it actually is - most guides make it seem way more complicated. I would have liked to see a bit more examples of circle jumping but still a great primer. Thank you Frothy.
Thanks for the kind words, happy to have helped!
Cryos737 i
Still relevant. I miss the Christmas theme and breaking for scrolls
Lol I remember doing Half Life DM, and using my scroll wheel so much that in got stuck inside the mouse. Had to throw the mouse out, then beg my brother to borrow his 🤣
I've been playing Arena shooters all my life, and now I finally learned how Strafe Jumping works. Thank you, and subbed!

Trig in 8th grade, damn... HELLA SMARRT
Just started playing Quake a couple of days ago, and this video helped me breach the gap of movement from any other FPS to quake. Thanks a lot, amazing video and information.
D35troy3r199 My thoughts exactly
I have been a counter-strike player all my life, but you got me into Quake with your great videos. keep up the good work. Not only are you the best Quake UA-camr, but definitely one of the best game channels out there.
You couldn't have uploaded this at a more perfect time for me. I just got the game today and this guide was super helpful! :)
Awesome. Glad to have helped :D
Kev G welcome to quake!! It will take some time and many deaths but as long as you keep pushing you will be great!
if you ever wanna play with someone you should add me!
Excellent tutorial. I'm returning to Quake after not playing Arena for years and years, and this video got me back on track.
I am really trying to get into and get better at Quake Champions and all of your videos are very informative. Thank you for bettering the community
Liked the way you explained circle jumping with the feet part. I think i understand the technique a lot better now.
Picked up the game yesterday and found this guide very well put together and easy to understand already got the hang of it thanks.
Yessss, this is the best compliment I could hope for. Thank you :)
Me to its free rn and i can finally use my aiming skills (5k hrs in csgo) and the movement was easy to pickup but i didnt know about the circle jumping and everything so i came here to realy learn it not just know that some movments work better than others xp
This is by far the best explanation of all guides that I watched. Ty so much for pointing out the mechanics.
What I love about the Quake community is that they will destroy you with no mercy in game but outside the game they are willing to teach new players.
Thank you so much.i learned strafe jumpin after 15min watching your tutorial . Now i have to learn to master it.
I always did this back in the day (by mistake mostly). Never knew why this worked. Good explanation!
I am new to Quake. First of all thank you for the really simple tutorial and I am just shocked how this game plays
You're welcome, and I'm happy to have helped!

As a guy who worked at PC Zone about 20years ago forced 😁to play q3 hl ut etc. I'm so happy for QC now. Thanks for tips mate
I remember the first hop I learned was b hop on titanfall 1 and still to this day I learn so much from your video. keep it up my sensei
Best tutorial on Quake movement. Period. Simple.
Never played a game I enjoyed losing so much! lol
I'm really pleased to hear it helped so much! Strafe Jumping is the hardest and most complicated part, for sure, but you'll get there!
Wow that made my whole night. Thank you. Next video I'm cooking isn't quake, but we're right back into quake after that!
Your a good teacher, this is good. I hope you don't stop.
I'm new to this game (yes I'm late to the party)! This was really helpful!
When you have been doing a technique for years... hear about it (Not knowing you already just have done it since quake 1) and finally figure out it actually has a name... and tutorials... LOL damn (MIND BLOWN)
seeing something this well done (Seriously i could never explain it myself to others), dude im gonna be pointing all new Quake Champ players to this video from now on
I had no idea what the technique was called, no idea how to explain what was simply muscle memory to me..... and here it all is!
Hell yeah! Glad to put a name to a face, so to speak :)
Volume is about half as loud as it should be mate but 32 y/o Quake vet, you got this down pat. Well done!
For circle jumps, most of the time a sixth of a circle is enough if you do a fast enough of a swipe while on the ground. For circle jumping you want some hard, large quick swipes when when you actually are strafe jumping you want to make smooth, small and slow swipes.
Thanks hell of a lot of this tutorial. I'm gonna be teaching my noob friends this technique now.
Awesome, happy to hear it!
By far best QC tutorials. Nice job frothy.
like always, awesome job frothy.
This video is a perfect example why I love your guides. whether its quake, tf1 tf2, or any other game, you always make your guides like : assuming this the first time you play a video game ever, here is what you need to know to learn this awesome cool thing. and then you list everything so that even the guy who's missing a little crucial thing to be perfect at it can just pick it up from you video.
this man really just found an actual use for trigonometry 😱😱
I've always done this by instinct without knowing the specifics behind it. Used to play Quake 3 so picked it up subconsciously through that.
i just started playing the game, im good at the shooty shooty but not good at mobility and the jumpy jumpy part. Thanks for the help!
I got this game a few days ago and I had no idea this was a thing. No wonder I was getting doinked every single time. Thanks for this!
Holy crap, this is the greatest guide I have seen for movement in Quake. It helps :)
Thanks for the videos. I really hope this game catches on bigtime, its hard as hell but a ton of fun. Such a low barrier to entry but incredibly high skill ceiling!
The best movement tutorial dude! Thank you so much
You're welcome!
Well explained and easy to follow. Thank you ! Coming from csgo to this is quite a difference in terms of movement.
to new viewers, skip to 3:00 and put it to 1.5x speed, this videos way longer than it has to be
smoked_out i know right. Csgo just needs to use diagonal keys but in quake you need to press forward with a diagonal key to gain speed. On top of that maneuvering while jumping is harder in quake (for me). Still learning the ropes tho cause i only play quake casually.
thank you very much.after watching 10 videos about strafe jumping i finally got it with this one.
THANK YOU! I played a ton of Quake III and Live in middle and high school and had these all kinda figured out, but THIS gave me so many useful tips to be more consistant. Take my sub!
Sweet! Happy to help, and thanks!
I'm surprised people would be confused by the meaning of circle jumping. I figured it out when I was 12 in Quake 3, but then again I had clanmates helping me. I guess it kind of goes to show how it's a "lost art" in some ways.
Sucks I can't just open a map without going to match as a free player - the training map is quite contained and, well, can't learn maps from it.
Yeah it kinda sucks that you have to pay for the custom game since the game already has a lootbox system to generate revenues, but if you really like the game the champions pack upgrade isn't so bad. You do unlock all the champions which would take forever if you played it for free IMO
i like the game but i dont and wont spend money on it, honestly the playerbase is kinda dead or just in zombie mod, this game should go f2p or be sold for $10 at the very most, i literally dont get people in the game to play with, Matchmaking takes a bit long for comfort
fanuel Make sure you select regions by pressing a globe button in menu.
Fanuel Sayi I've been getting a good amount of players and fast matchmaking
@Fanuel : it's still in EA, the game will be f2p
The best part about strafe jumping is that it was originally introduced into q1 by mistake when quakeworld was released. It was a bug.
Thank you You are seriously the best at teaching these things and this helped so much
And if you fancy Anarki or Sorlag, there's another mechanic called airstrafe (Source engine bunnyhop, or CPMA movement for quakers) that will allow you to keep your speedcap while going around corners. Very vicious that techique is...
its real name is called air control
The way other channels taught it was too move your mouse side to side while strafing. You describe it better saying that you need to be continuously turning while strafing.
Finally a tutorial i understand! It's so straight forward after all :D
Still very new to quake, and this was very helpful. Thank you for this series!
Finally someone has explained it in a way I can understand after trying to get down. Thanks you very much.
Yeah the Quake engine is pretty sweet.
Thanks so much for not making this confusing, everyone else seems to....!
thanks my guy I saw some people on stream strafe but I never really figured out how to really get goin until I saw this
Oh Omen-at last smbdy clear this case for me. Splendid tutorial,ty 4 improving my gamę. Greetings from Poland.
I'm so used to b-hopping in csgo I had no idea you were supposed to hold w as well, this helps a lot.
used to know you from your Titan Fall tutorials, QC seems like an awesome fit for you I hope to see more QC videos from you man!
When suddenly you need to run on curve or turn you can do a half beat stop but continue circle jumping so you won't loose your momentum.
my method of picking up speed (in quake 3 especially) is I don’t have to worry about strafing or circling like you basically showed and explainedat the very end. What I do is when I’m moving forward I jump then the second I hit the floor I jump again and so on. Basically I do the basic bunny hop that majority of quake players use
Bunny hopping with no mouse movement is strictly worse than walking on the ground
10:55 that's how the quake comunity back in the days sounds lol (quake2 veteran), nice to have a mentality change, at the end it brings more players
That's not too far off from the truth
hehe, "some coder". some coder happens to no other than John Carmack. without this guy, this industry would be in very different state now. guy's a true genious and functions on complete other level than most ppl.
Strafe jumping is hardly an "industry standard", what other games besides ones that use idtech engine have it?
do more research before trying to insult me, as i never said that i was talking about only just strafejumping..
I wasn't talking to you, dipshit.
Great guide I watched you learn circle jumping on a stream and had no idea how it worked. Gonna be picking up this game soon so thank you for the guide.
nice way to explain with the vectors
Just to add to this; when you jump, release the jump key and immediately press it again whilst you're in the air, but hold it down until you land and you'll jump again as soon as you land. Then release it, hold again before you land, etc.
A straightforward and well explained tutorial. Cheers!
Thanks man! By far the best explanation I've seen about these mechanics.
Amazing tut bro. Thanks for pointing out very important things for us the noobiest players.
im getting the game rn,thnx for the uplaod as it was on time :)
wow i never knew this game was so in depth! thank you.
Try this: As your UPS gets higher, move the mouse a little more in the direction of your strafe jump.
I lol'd so hard at your impersonation of the alpha quake player at the end 😂😂😂😂😂😂
ima explain it in a simple way...
2:45 starts talking about verctors
thanks bro! this really helped
Wow, well thanks for watching regardless!
Same here.
Thank you so much for this! I hadn't gotten how exactly to strafe jump until now! You can check my videos and see how I tried to do and I always got frustrated because I barely got any speed. Thank you so much!
Happy to have helped! I know the video wasn't perfect but I'm glad it got you in the right direction. :)
Never thought I’d use physics irl
Thanks mrs. Haylee
I know how to do strafe and circle jumps, but your tutorial is pretty easily to perceived and should be helpful for novices.
This tricks also does work in Doom singleplayer and multiplayer modes. Also work with half life, team fortress, overwatch etc... So, basically this tricks is work with almost all FPS games
