Great video. I just purchased at a yard sale a near identical version of this tool. The arms are damaged and the side guide split due to rust expansion. I'm hoping not to have to replace the arms rather just clean and glue them but if I do now I know how. Thanks!

Thank you for posting. I have a similar project waiting for attention. However I believe these planes typically had a captured wedges on the arms.

Some did some don't depended on the maker. But a lot of them did ended up with them broken off. Though it is always fun to make those

Nicely done and thanks for showing your mistake. I'd recommend the wedges be made in such a way that they won't be easily fall out or get lost. I had to remake a lost wedge in my plow plane and I put a little swell, same as on the other one, on the narrow end so it wouldn't fall out when loosened. Someone before me either lost the original or it broke, but I think the design is practical. I know your design is practical as well, I just suspect the wedges might decide to drop out when making adjustments.

Toes can be very useful. Things. They do tend to break off but can't be very useful while they are there.

Very nice job. I prefer my Record 044 (very similar to a Stanley 44) most of the time, but a wooden bodied plough plane can be nicer to use during winter - it doesn't suck all the heat from your hands like nickel plated cast iron does.

I like your original choice of osage orange for the arm. Too bad you had to use maple. My grandfather (1889-1961) used to make picture frames from osage with hand tools. It was only after I was grown that I appreciated how much work that was. Love your videos.

Very cool. I love seeing these old tools getting a second life. BTW what are you listening to? Did you ever try that Super Powereds by Drew Hayes?

I bought a box of planes from a lady selling her fathers tools after he passed. probably 6 - 10 planes. With this beautiful rosewood plow plane which was his fathers. It look brand new!! as I hurried home I realized the plow plane is missing the blade!! Where could I go to turn this this paper weight into a plane. Thanks.

check out www.HandToolFinder.com most of the plow irons are the same and probably half of the online sellers on there would have a set to sell and they almost give away the individual 1/4" irons. if you want them new then Red Rose Reproductions might have some now. he only makes them every now and then.

Perhaps you could have drilled the wedges out and saved the original replacement
