I ordered a set for my Tacoma 4.0. I understand these won't fit with out some modification but I am going to test them out and see if they are worth it! My truck is already supercharged so this should be a nice little cherry on top. Hopefully in the future you will offer a set for the 4.0 1GR-FE (Single VVTi) for us 2nd gen tacoma folks.
@@luisramos5330 I just gave them away. One coil went bad and it wouldn’t let my truck run, it was throwing codes for all coilpacks and truck would just die. I gave them to someone who had the same thing happen to them so they may be able to get a working set with a few spares.
Great Vid!! A friend of mine added your exhaust and coil packs to his 2018 JLUR and we could feel the difference. I am thinking about trying these on my 2019 4Runner TRD OffRoad. When we go to Colorado and higher areas I would love the better response.
has this been tested in 20+ 4runners? Since they have a different ecu I've pretty much given up on a supercharger and am now leaning towards just regearing. already have an exhaust and intake . would love ANY additional torque when towing
These are the videos that I like to see. Numbers to back up the claims. Do you have a video for the RIPP 3.8 L coil pack showing the same thing? I am wondering what kind of gains I can expect out of my 2010 Jeep Wrangler with ripp supercharger. Also, do you recommend a different spark plug gap and/or spark plug than what you normally recommend for your supercharger kits in order to get the most out of the stronger coil?
Do you guys have any sound clips of the new heritage super chargers? Was on the website seeing the prices and saw a heritage edition rip supercharger. Wondering what that sounds like vs the stock rip supercharger.
I have a 2017 Tacoma TRD OR Manual. You’re welcome to install and test on mine so you can get lower RPM data. Most people don’t daily drive over 3000 rpms. This would show the gains in a more day-to-day operation.
Website has nothing about this for a 5th gen 4runner. Only the 'coming soon' for the Tacoma 3.5 V6. When will it be available for purchase and what is the price for the 5th gen 4Runner with the 4.0L V6?
Honest question here. If these produce 10-15 free/untapped hp and improve fuel economy, then why doesn't Toyota do this them self? What is the negative aspect of this mod? There has to be a downside.
@@RIPPMODS wouldn’t the manufacturers just sell the car for $800 more ? And have a engine that gets better emissions and better mpg and more power and use all those advantages to sell more ? Or do these maybe have a slightly shorter life span? I mean better mpg and emissions alone would allow them to sell more trucks or sell the new Supra with 50hp more because of how the epa restricts manufacturers overall when it comes to mpg and emissions
@@huntertodd7915 The majority of OEM manufacturers have not updated ignition coil designs since the early 2000s. Toyota for instance uses the same internal coil design on 2021 Tacoma's that they did on the 2001 Tacoma. Performance vehicles like the Supra, GTR, Yaris GR, etc. use updated and more powerful ignition coils since it matters much more in that automotive sector.
The same Toyota that could easily put the 6spd GX460 trans in the 4runner which would give it better fuel economy, but doesn't because that's not Toyotas philosophy, they are a play it safe company.
Very interested in getting these for my turbocharged 4.0 Tacoma. When will they be back in stock? And any way I could help with research for them on a turbocharged truck?
Any long term tests on these for 5th gen 4runners? MPG gains, over stock, etc. Id love to give them a shot, and even test them for you. Hard to find any info on these in regards to the 4 runner.
Hello, there are independent non sponsored Toyota videos out there. The data from the 3.5 and thr 4.0 are the same. Simply search RIPP coils for Toyota, watch the videos and ask end users.
@@RIPPMODS has some competition there. While TRD dumped their Magnuson contract, you can still get the Magnuson roots style kit. I would be interested in knowing the DA at the time of the pulls? Additionally, what load capacity the Dyno is setup with? My experiences tell me the shops that focus on very high load, partial throttle performance, make all the difference. Thanks guys!
This product has little to no effect on engine longevity. It is a simple bolt on power adder which takes advantage of the other factory components and uses them to their fullest potential.
We suggest using 91 octane fuel to make the quoted HP gains. While 87 does work we noted some pre-ignition at lower RPMs while using this grade fuel. 91 rids of the pre-ignition and smooths out the power curve.
I know Ross and his biz for 23 years. They always do top notch job. Force be with you:)
Love seeing the development of a new vehicle! I know quite a few people who would love this sending them your way!

How did they work out still running?

No tune required for these coil packs? Just plug and play for that kind of gain?
This is a plug and play mod, however as covered in the video should you go for a tune this would help make more power.

I seriously want to try these on my wife’s Dodge Journey 😂
Do you have to gap the spark plug more than stock for the 3.5L V6 Tacoma?
Nope, we did everything with factory plugs at factory gap
