Im hoping to use glasses so that I can look say a photograph and trace the image onto canvas, are there any that would let me do this please. Help in painting thanks Charles
Thank you for the very informative video. Question, I don't know if you're familiar with the Over The Reality app which allows visualization of AR experiences through the phone. Can any of these allow me to use the app through the glasses?
You could try this out on any pair of smart glasses that run Android and allows installation of third party apps, and has a camera. Vuzix Shield, Rayneo X2, Inmo Air, etc. just install the app on the glasses.
I'm looking for a pair of glasses that I can connect to my garmin fish finders. I know i might have to use a cable, I would also like to have them polarized. of course I would be outdoors. Any thoughts
That sounds awesome. What info do you want in the display? What is the make/model and can you code/have a team that can code? It won't work out of the box but it should be pretty easy to write an app for it. Feel free to email me with detailed explanation.
I am visually impaired and use my iPhone camera to zoom into blackboards, restaurant display menus at far distance or even close up, or when trying to read number of an approaching bus or read distant street signs . Do any of the glasses you’ve reviewed allow you to tele zoom in real time like 5x or more? I have seen Seperhexa which looks like a Google glass do that but haven’t seen anything new on it since 2022 and I want to buy something like it now.
Good day. I'm interested in the real-time speech translation function. Could you recommend something that truly works and fully performs this function? Maybe we need to wait a bit longer for new versions of the glasses? Thank you.
A few glasses have this. They're not all amazing, but some are good. Inmo comes with it. Vuzix can support it with the right apps. XRAI just announced translation for Xreal glasses which I haven't tried yet but imagine is good.
@@caydengineer How is the translation on the vuzix z100? I think translation seems by far the most revolutionary feature, you said they were the #1 pick for this, but it seems they are still in development, or at least you can on only buy a "developers edition"? All seems a bit weird and markety to me, why don't they legit just come out with these things with apps like any other normal tech thing lol. Does developers edition just mean "we want to cover our asses and bottom line by not putting too much effort in, and therefore won't get in trouble when they're unfinished or don't work bc we called them 'developers' /don't understand the egg must come before the chicken... haha, if that makes sense
So i want a pair that has navigation, translation, additional screens for laptop, bluetooth, sound, and integrates well with other apps. What do you think are 2 or 3 I should be looking at besides the Neo X2? I trust your expertise in this area
Rayban META can’t capture in landscape and won’t stream to UA-cam. I’m only looking for video camera capture and livestream capabilities in landscape mode to UA-cam via Streamyard. With Continuity mode in IOS, if a pair of glasses has Bluetooth and WiFi, can’t I pair to an iPhone or MacBook and use another manufacturer’s camera glasses as an external video capture for making videos and streaming to UA-cam?
You can't do the iOS continuity thing with glasses. The only way you could do this without developing your own software or hardware is get glasses that behave as IP cameras, then get an app which streams IP camera to UA-cam/twitch/etc.
Hi Cayden I need your advice on the best smart eye glasses for my iphone which can provide link to social media apps ; AI link ; translation ; gps and phone connection . Thanks
Love your videos!! Question on Vuzix z100: the one on the website they’re selling doesn’t seem to come with speakers/mics. How are you using AI assistants with it? Where can i get one with mic/speakers? Is it worth exploring Vuzix Ultralight OEM?
I’m just looking for transparent/see through HUD-style glasses to use as my daily wears with: display (monochrome, even one-eye is fine), speakers, camera, and ability to connect bluetooth controllers (i.e. customizeable bluetooth controller). Final requirement is ability to access developer tool kits to make my own apps/program my own ways to load apps/websites. Rayneo X2 seems pretty buggy with limited global support Blade2 is not transparent enough to use as daily-wear. Do you have any suggestions, smart-glasses King?
Thanks for the excellent summary, subscribed immediately 🙂 To the final question, I am a developer with interest in AR, from Sutherland's Damocles through VFX1 that I met personally, to things that I can play with today. My choice would be a see-through system supporting prescription lenses that I can code directly by managing 3D objects and text in a virtual space real-time. It should support three reference frames. 1: fixed to the glass (HUD), 2: fixed to the body (direction sensors let you look around but things stay with you as you move), 3: fixed to the environment (movement sensors, cameras, etc. - but I can live without it). I would use it for spatial computing: direct graph management in 3D. I randomly looked into some of these alternatives but saw no convincing entry points with that direct coding (my highest priority). What would you recommend to look at? Thanks.
What do you mean by code directly? Like you want to control your 3D window poses with your own code? If so, maybe look at Simula running on Lenovo A3, Xreal or related. If you want to do custom coding if the environment, it will get more complicated quick, because windows managers/display managers are complex beasts.
@@caydengineer I am old school. For me virtual reality is putting 3D polygons or shapes into a 3D space, add two connected virtual cameras. Then, project what they see to the person's eyes and you have a stereoscopic view of that space. If you have a rectangle with text and graphics, locked to the cameras, you have ref frame 1, the HUD. If you update the position of the cameras from directions sensors from the glass, you have ref frame 2. If you have position and direction relative to the environment, that's ref frame 3. Reversing this, I want to have a 3D space for each ref frame, put polygons into them, probably text onto the polygons, then change them from code like games do for decades. But without elephants in the middle... 🙃 [edit] ... probably will try to tame Unity and give Xreal another shot.
hey, you mentioned the lenovo thinkreality a3 as the "best" option to use as a monitor replacement. right now with a price of around 1.3k€ that would be a bit too expensive for me, what cheaper alterative would you say could be a good alternative? if there is any in the sub 500 price range.
Yes, both Rokid and Xreal glasses could be used as normal outdoor prescription glasses with adaptations for prescription lenses, alongside their phone and music capabilities.
@caydengineer cool, i was reluctant to buy these as all review indicated it was only design for multimedia which is true, I however needed for business (hands free phone/call/music and viewing camera from a second business using screen mirroring.
Of these glasses, how many are accessible for less common prescriptions? I've seen some companies say they only support myopia and/or astigmatism lenses. How many of them are dealing with presbyopia (essential for anyone over the age of around 40), hypermetropia, or things that require prisms, such as strabismus, or colour inserts? How many can specify that only one eye is valid, and allow you to choose which? How many offer photochromic lenses?
Thanks very much for your video. I was wondering if you could suggest a pair of glasses that would fit on top of my prescription glasses or do you need to get prescription lenses inserted into the smart glasses? I was eyeing Viture. I just want something that can be used as a monitor for my MacBook and gaming on my Nintendo Switch. Thanks!
Do these allow for prescription glasses? In the future you might give price points. Also perhaps you could make a video that shows how you make them work and what settings they would work best in. You mentioned the sport glasses.
Hello, I need glasses that have the ability to learn languages, which is a priority for me, such as Vuzix z100. As well as glasses that have the ability to display several virtual monitors at the same time, such as the Lenovo Thinkreality A3. Are there any glasses that have such options together in one glasses?😃
Well, it you want grest virtual monitors, they're going to be large and heavy, so not great for bringing out into the real world for language learning. If you want light and thin for real world language learning, the display will be basic and low res. You could get some birdbath Android glasses like Xreal and then do both with them.
I'm searching since almost a month i keep watching videos from different glasses but still lost and don't know which one I should get, can you please recommend one for me, i need it for tiktok content recording video and so on
Hi, my boss is looking for AR/telepresence glasses. Just so an engineer can give tips on how to fix a malfunction remotely. Do you know of a nice, current day product? Hololens seems outdated by this point right? Thanks!
Hello Sir, I was wondering now that we have all seen GPT-4o which glasses best work smoothly specifically with GPT-4o? Thank you for providing valuable information.
Hello, I'm looking for smart glasses that are easy to use for hands free video calling. We are an in home healthcare provider and we used the Hololens for a study but we are looking for an easier and lighter alternative thats less scary for our clients and easier to use for our careworkers. Main focus is being able to show a Dr on a videocall what the careworkers sees. Any suggestions?
Is a display needed, or just a wearable camera? Perhaps just a GoPro if no camera needed? Could it be a necklace? Checkout the Vuzix Blade 2, Inmo Air 2, Vuzix Shield.
Thanks for your suggestion. A display would not be necessary but they might not be able to touch the glasses or camera for adjustment or interaction if they're doing wound care at the same time (this was an advantage of the Hololens 2 as they could interact without touching any surfaces). The advantage of glasses is that they can be sure the Dr sees exactly what they see without readjusting.@@caydengineer
Are there any glasses that can translate what I’m seeing to English ? Maybe traveling to a different country and be able to read the shop names or signs or menus ?
Not a great experience yet on glasses, and it's hard to find glasses that have a camera and the display type needed to really achieve this. You should probably do this in mixed reality, with a metaquest or Pico 4 or similar. Nothing off the shelf as far as I know.
Hello. I have another question... Together with a team of programmers, I am creating a platform for online trainers. In it, trainers store exercise videos and create personalized workouts. My question is: Are there any glasses available today that would be convenient for this kind of training, if the video is transmitted directly to the glasses? I need advice, as already now everyone is starting to shoot their videos and possibly at the start, I need to recommend a format for the correct display in the trainer's glasses and their training.
The users wear it while working out? And they're meant to see a video of the trainer in the glasses? It will be tough as the glasses will need to be bulky and heavy to get a nice display, but that is brutally uncomfortable while working out. I ran a 10k wearing Vuzix Shield. Was fun but no normie would have done it haha, and I wouldn't do it again. I use Vuzix Z100 while I work out, but just stream simple information, not a full video. It might just be a bit early for this. Activelook Engo is for workouts, but it's just small amounts of data, not a full video .
Because prescription is requirement for many people, and these other things are a bonus which are very difficult to achieve. What adjustable vision are you referring to? Night vision and zoom definitely would be awesome.
@@caydengineer instead of prescription which is constantly changing why not be able to adjust the image size to fit your vision. Like reading labels in the grocery store and night vision for driving
All these glasses are interesting, but I cannot find a pair of glasses that will have my prescription and provide a hearing aid with audio conduction. I saw some in the UK but they are not sold in the USA.
It's a great use. Unfortunately not many. Ray-Ban Meta Stories will allow you to stream to Instagram. Other wise you'll need to make your own with some custom code and camera glasses/spy glasses/streaming WiFi camera glasses from Amazon or AliExpress.
Are there any glasses with a camera or that connect to a camera which will display the feed to your vision and can zoom in? I want a pair of glasses for detailed work like soldering or painting fine details on models. Being able to wear glasses and zoom 10x 20x etc and feed that to my vision would be a game changer for me. Great content! Thank you!
I just use this simple solution: www.amazon.com/LXIANGN-Illuminated-Jeweler-Magnifier-Detachable/dp/B08QCX8PZR You could try to make an app like this for INMO or Vuzix Blade/Shield, but the experience will probably be grainy (smart glasses camera zoom is often awful).
Nice Video! I'm really interested in an open source solution that can show texts and small information like a smart watch. My other use case would be screen glasses that can be plugged into any device through usb c or hdmi.
I am looking for a pair of smart glasses with screen, so that I will be able to project song lyrics, during singing a song. Is there something you could suggest?
im trying to figure out which are best to use chat gpt by my voice and then have the reply be option of text on glasses or voice. But actually only text on glasses matters to me
Great video. The main two use cases I have for smart glasses are: 1. Watching videos while I cook and do chores. Ideally something like android TV so I can cast to it easily. 2. Virtual monitors so I can work anywhere. I'm not sure there's anything that does both those things at the right price yet. Hopefully this year though🤞
@@caydengineer thanks for taking the effort to reply. Appreciate that! I actually thought I'd be hindered by my phone not having the ability to send display out over usb c (Nothing Phone 2) I'll have a look for a cheap used xreal set. Thanks
@@luisgregson7140 I do think you'll need a phone that can put out HDMI from USBC. Sorry to say for Nothing, but that's a standard smartphone feature now.
@@caydengineer I'm looking for something like that too. Something that would allow me to watch Acuff while I'm working on things but isn't in my vision too much. I just wanna connect to my phone and watch UA-cam videos or have that three screen thing for a computer. I need it to replace my actual glasses contacts so I can see, can it do that? And do these glasses connect through Bluetooth cause I hope it isn't linked directly to my phone cause I was thinking of having a battery bank in my pocket to snake through my shirt and connect up to my glasses lol. That way I have complete charging to my phone and glasses. If any of these glasses fit that criteria, I'd love that.
Great video! Does anyone know of any smart glasses for reading small print? I normally use my smartphone camera for zooming in on small print. It would be cool if the camera app was on smart glasses.
Hey. Great video. Up to date and very complete ! Just subscribed ! I run a small software company and we want to focus on development of business applications able to get information on the fly from servers based on objects in the real world, and performs transactions by voice. Like recognize a product in the shelves and bring information about inventory , for example Requirement for such glasses would include... camera to be able to recognize bar codes, qr codes (perhaps rfId ??), software SDK for development of custom applications able to connect to database servers, and speaker/mic able to receive voice information and give voice orders. Be not so heavy so people can use along the work. Based on that, what you would recommend (1) to start with based on cost/benefit (2) as ideal glass ? Again, congratulations for the video and the channel... this new frontier of wearable devices brings amazing possibilities !
I want to find ar glasses that: - video is hidden to others - matches my prescription so I can use them to see - can connect to my phone via Bluetooth - can be charged while in use
@@caydengineer Is it too obstructive at all? Like can i work while emjoying a little video at the corner of my vision i can see nicely? The best would be is if they could act as monitors for computers as well. I don't need a camera either lol. In fact I'd prefer if something like that isn't noticeable. I just wanna enjoy videos and monitors in the background while I work so it looks like I have regular, if not thick and have a cord, glasses lol. (I suppose I can put a piece of tape on them like I'm Poindexter or something lol. Like something fashionable maybe.) If they can be charged, I was thinking more of a battery block in my pocket with a cord snaked through my shirt connecting the two while I also charge my phone seperately,, NOT having it connecting to my phone directly. (Maybe something that has a large battery life. I'm not opposed to bulkier glasses either, as long as they're comfortable and won't slip off my face lol) Ooo maybe even a multi feature where I can have a little note or checklist while I work so I can have a reminder of tasks or things I must remember constantly and can check off with my phone! A multi app feature while I work where I have that and a video would be absolutely perfect!! I mean I'd be happy with just the videos and monitors mind you lol. Also, after answering my question, have you ever considered the idea of a totally Urban Secret computer system utilizing AR glasses? My idea involves it all being wrapped up and hidden Within inside of a sweatshirt, including a face mask that dampens your voice so you can be loud within the presence of others, a battery system lined Within the Torso of the sweatshirt, two separate mini computers connected together on the back of the sweatshirt, and a keyboard hidden within the front pocket of the sweatshirt so it just looks like you have your hands and the little kangaroo pouch in front of the sweatshirt LOL. (These are all things that can be found today btw, I can give you more details on the technology of you're interested) Now you have a secret computer that you can secretely game or talk to your freinds with anywhere. Please steal tf out of this idea and share it with other tech guys in diacord servers, tech events or anywhere else you can if you think its neat. Id love to see it as a thing. ♥ Thank you so much for having the patience to respond to me btw it means a whole lot man. Hope you have an awesome day!
Can you recommend any glass that does the following -voice phone music functionalities like the bose frame that I am currently using -plus hud display at least 480 by 480 full colour display to mirror my phone so I can literally leave my phone in the pocket. TCL RAYNEO X2 LITE, INMO AIR 2 OR VUZIX BLADE 2 ???
There are a couple of glasses that can do this now at a light weight: Meizu Myvu and Inmo Go. However neither has an SDK, so you're limited to the apps they make (for now), which doesn't include phone screen mirroring. There are many other smart glasses that can do this, but they're too heavy to wear continuously all the time. Examples: Vuzix Shield, Inmo Air 2, TCL Rayneo X2, Vuzix Blade 2, etc.
I'm going to ask your advice and there might not be a proper answer but I want to monocular non glasses frame heads up display for web browsing and video viewing that's more like a scouter from Dragon Ball Z or something you would see from a cyberpunk type story, does that exist A single-sided HUD with audio and video
Most of the glasses reasonable for all day wear are integrated into the glasses frame to minimize weight and increase symmetricity. What might fit your needs is the Vufine connected to HDMI on your phone with a pair of headphones (like OpenRun Aftershoks) for audio.
What a great breakdown video! Definitely learned a lot more. The Z100 is on my wish list for sure, would be nice to have binocular displays like the Shield. I'm glad smart glasses tech is really taking off! I guess we'll see in the near future where it goes!
I was curious about one of the glasses you mentioned. Specifically the smith focus ones so I googled it. Immediately saw its almost a decade old at this point, not sure how or why its relevant still. I cant even find it for sale anywhere. Now i wonder how many other products you show here are obsolete as well.
You're right about the Smith Lowdown focus, thanks for pointing that out. When I did my last video, the Smith InterAxon Lowdown Focus Glasses were available. Otherwise, I think you'll find almost all of these glasses you can buy right now (I own most of them).
was just looking at those frames. You are right, 2024 is gonna be good for devs. I should wait until a solid choice comes in for consumers. But the X2 Lite's are my fav so far, but those Oppo air 2.... wow. All I want is HUD glasses that last 16 hours.
Ha, 16 hours is a lot to ask for, but a realistic ask if you want to use them prescription lenses. I don't think we'll see that for a while. Likely 8-12 hours, or longer with periods they're turned off/in sleep mode.
I've been using the Inmo Go glasses and I usually get a few days of battery life. Granted I don't get many notifications for the display to turn on often but it's nice to have. The speakers on the glasses are good and the features are pretty solid too. Plus they're affordable as well. I do think the frames by brilliant labs will kill the Inmo go of the features and development is strong
I am thinking of a smart glasses that has chaptgpt integrated to it in such a way the AI can help you analyse the person that you are interacting with, and while doing so also help provide prompts on what words can be said the the percentage ratios for each choices of words used when socialising with the person. Sort of like a smar glasses that provide prompts and analyses the person that you are socialising with and can help you better communicate with the person with a selectable choices of words.
Wearable speech coach is fun, I have a demo video of that dropping soon! As for telling you what to say, I think it's dystopian and a bit future. Topic areas suggestions may be cool to help people identify common interests, but reading off things to other people is a sad interaction.
@caydengineer I know what you mean but it is helpful to people who do not go out alot to interact with others. Aka those who stay at home most of time not exposed much to the outside world.
I own the new Ray Ban Metas and like them a lot... Battery life is annoying, but the tech is great. The recognizing feature is ok, came close on my car, nailed what was wrong with a plant's health, doesn't know bugs... Any thoughts on when this might be able to be assistive technology for people like me with Prosopagnosia (face blindness)? The Google Glass was promising for us, but died out... looks like the possibilities are emerging again for a helper, would love your thoughts!
Oh, and my Ray Ban Metas are progressive, transition, prescription lenses, and are great. I didn't go polarized in order to easily read my car's head's up display...
Thanks for the feedback - the RayBan Stories are indeed a good pair of glasses - but they'll need to open up to third party devs to create an ecosystem.
Thanks for the video but can you give the source to when Meta will release the next version of Meta Rayban in 2025 ? I’m wqnt to buy the Rayban Meta but don’t know whether to wait for the next version now
Inmo Air 2 is solid I think, but have never tried (I own a Inmo Air 1). Great low cost Android smart glasses that compete with Vuzix Shield (not nearly as good but far better price). Inmo Go is pretty amazing. If/when they drop an SDK, I'll get a pair. They are one of the best glasses on the market, very impressive. Aesthetic is a tad weird but they're light with audio and display and good battery, very impressive
I want brightness to read pdfs outside and program a little, and have the image projected to infinity so i can focus on things far away. I have no problem with a cable running out the back so the ears have it lighter. Then i can slap them on a mobile workstation and work outside.
Love The video Cayden!!!!👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 Great job!!! My favorite for Immersive Journaling right now are the Snapchat Spectacles and in some instances the Ray-Bans by Meta.🤓💯👊🏾
Love your content! Would also love to connect and chat about an idea I have about making standalone "transcription" glasses available in Persian (Farsi).
I recently purchased the Meta Raybands. To me, they most resemble what most would consider 'normal glasses'. The other glasses are cool, but with all that tech crammed inside..looks a bit off and bulky.
Very nice video! I'm a design student and i'm doing the research developing a design for color blind people. I found these glasses are very interesting. Do you have any suggestions based on the function of these glasses?
Hey Cayden, I was wondering if you can make smart glasses that look completely normal but with features like an ai that can solve things like math problems or science problems and I don’t need to use my voice or anything. If this is impossible then nvm but if it is we can discuss an amount and I’ll pay you
Hi, I’m a singer and I’m really tired of reading lyrics from my iPad on stage. I would like some funky looking, light, non- clunky, cool glasses that I can read photos of my lyrics in the glasses. It needs to be Bluetooth and/or have maybe 10 gig of memory in built. I also need a footpedal to switch back-and-forth between pages. I don’t need other fancy functions. Surely there is a market for this? Can this please be possible?? Thanks.
We have a karaoke glasses prototype working now. For your use case, it would have to be modified to do what. Are you a dev? Or do you have funds to hire a dev?
@@caydengineer Hi, thanks for your reply! I am not a developer, I am professional singer/musician/producer. I’m just tired of reading lyrics from an iPad on stage. I lose the eye contact with audience. I can imagine wearing some light, unclunky, funky cool glasses (maybe like Bone from U2 dare I say) with the capability of maybe one eye or could be two being able to see photos/pdf of my lyrics embedded/semi immersed in my vision field. Some memory and foot switch to turn pages. I put this out there because I think there would be a huge market for this.
Very good update to last year's video, Ive dismissed Ray Bans until their vision ai beta recently and have thought about giving them a try, excited to see a HUD version....such a shame its Meta tho. I hoped something else would capture adoption first
I don't think any dust has settled on who puts out the top consumer smart glasses over the next 1, 3, 5 years. Meta will be a player, but the ecosystem (software interoperability) will develop and there will be many top smart glasses to choose from. Meta is weakened by their lack of an SDK. If they have videoaudio
I'm told by another Tech reviewer that the RayNeo X2 Lite does not have body-tracking sensors on them (unlike the RayNeo X2 - which does). Comparing the Vuzix Z100 ($799 USD) and the TCL RayNeo X2 ($800 USD), I'll take the TCL RayNeo X2 any day as it has way more features than Vuzix (and Dual Displays in full colour, too!).
TCL Rayneo X2 does indeed have "more features" than Vuzix Z100. However, the Z100 is all-day wearable (lightweight, aesthetic, battery) while the Rayneo X2 is huge, heavy, and offputting to look at someone wearing.
For poker, I'd use some of the HUD glasses that feature a camera, like Vuzix Shield. You'd have to have your own custom software developed. For billiards - you'd want some MR glasses with a camera (not many of these unfortunately despite claiming to be AR/MR) which have a large FOV, like XREAL Air 2 Ultra, or probably would have to skip glasses and do it with Meta Quest Pro or similiar passthrough device.
Love it! This will be hard to do, but probably would want to do it in video passthrough so you can actually change what you see. However all the manufacturers block camera access, which makes it hard.
Unfortunately I don't like the form factors of the Oppo glasses....And I'm not going to wear a pair of glasses that I don't like how I look in them. And no camera....that's a deal killer for me. It looks like I'll be waiting for next gen Meta glasses with the HUD.
Thanks for the response, I'll check those out. Wrt to my uses/requirements...if the Meta Ray-ban Smart glasses had a HUD that could display basic info it would do everything that I need it to do now. So my uses would to: - Record pictures (but with landscape) & video (>1min) with FP POV. Mostly for personal use vs content creation for social media. - Listen to music via blue tooth. - Ability to get real time info and display it in a HUD (Directions, AI Query results, Language translation, stuff you can view on your phone). The glasses have to look reasonably normal. You wouldn't catch me dead wearing bird bath glasses or VR googles...in public. I need the glasses to be flexible enough so that I could use them both as prescription glasses and sunglasses. So I would want them to be able to support transition lenses. I think this is the sweet spot for todays technologies and if someone could deliver all of these items (preferably for ~$300) they'd have a winner on their hands. So far Meta is closest to delivering on my wish list. They just need to add a HUD...which from your video sounds like it is coming in 2025. All that said I would like their frames to be a bit thinner and I'd like to see them offer some smaller frames.
@@caydengineer I am not up to date with the correct currently used terms but I meant mixed reality :D Specifically an overlay that shows e.g. the bounding boxes of a vision model output to highlight things in the view
This is great I got a pair of xreal at glasses but for $500 and I had to order prescription lenses or where contacts it was not a great option at only 1080p plus my iPhone would have to be charged when using it was not sustainable at all. Looking for better future options. I returned them because they wanted way to much money the had no app for the iPhone their apple laptop app sucked 4$$ the quality was not that great for the money needed to have these as an option for full this apple user. Do better.
@@caydengineer I have an iPhone, and essentially all Xreal glasses were doing was periscoping or mirroring my phone, which was great, but not at that price. Because the things listed. Have an M2 Mac the APP didn’t work for me gave up after 30 seconds, because it should just work.
This is the most “he gets it” take on wearable AR that I’ve heard in awhile. I think the only place where I was saying “no, definitely not” was the speculation between AI assistant and restaurant system negotiating whether to recommend a meal to the wearer. Not only would I see that as a major breach of privacy to disclose these personal details about the wearer, it inculcates a deepening of investment in perverse incentives for businesses. Would it not be better to only trust restaurant to convey objective data points (time of day meal is available, portion size, ingredients, nutritional data, etc)? And for more subjective takes, optional social angles. Like… your BFF had this meal before and gave it a thumbs up. But offer nothing back to the restaurant about the wearer or their preferences.
Yes, different people will have different rules for how much data there LLM offers. To have more personalized interactions, one will want to give a little bit more information to different applications. We'll see what level of personal information permissions people place on their semantic OS.
It's a cool use case! Though people don't take kindly often to you running facial recognition on your POV camera stream 24/7... I used to do that haha.
In between stages of functional AR... almost pointless. The heavier ones that require another device are what people are going to use right now. And we all know it except the people trying to sell this soon to be completely obsolete garbage.
They were not downplayed. They got #2 out of the 40+ glasses I reviewed. They're awesome. They don't have a display though, that's a big drawback, and they're also a little too heavy, 50 g won't fly, got to be below 40.
@@caydengineer I see you are using the esp 32 in your glasses design why not build an api interface into your ecosystem for chat gpt, and the open source models that are now compatible !

Checkout eSight.
is there any where I can buy the glass and tech only and do my own frames and comes with an SDK so I can write apps for it ?
I don't think there's anything that does all those things well. You could look at Xreal and screen share those apps to your glasses.
Im looking for a pair of glasses for Golfing can you help
What would you like them to do while you golf? You could maybe check out the Activelook Engo 2 with Garmin watch for golfing.
@@caydengineer This is the first actionable suggestion I have received since querying Reddit and all the vendors listed in round up’s. Thank you!!
Hi Cayden
I need your advice on the best smart eye glasses for my iphone which can provide link to social media apps ; AI link ; translation ; gps and phone connection .
Thanks
Where could i buy some of these glasses?
Can I change lenses on the smart glasses for my prescription glasses
Can add or swap prescription on most of these glasses.
Rayneo X2 seems pretty buggy with limited global support
Blade2 is not transparent enough to use as daily-wear.
Do you have any suggestions, smart-glasses King?
What you want does not exist. If it did I'd be wearing it. You have to make concessions. If you want all day where, you can't have all the specs.
@@caydengineer ignore all-day wear, i meant just daily wear, even if it's dead and to just use as normal glasses
also how did you get vuzix z100s with mic/speakers?
[edit] ... probably will try to tame Unity and give Xreal another shot.
hey, you mentioned the lenovo thinkreality a3 as the "best" option to use as a monitor replacement.
right now with a price of around 1.3k€ that would be a bit too expensive for me, what cheaper alterative would you say could be a good alternative? if there is any in the sub 500 price range.
Probably Xreal.
I know it is not design for it but can the rokid or xreal 2 glasses be used for normal outdoor prescription glasses with phone, music capabilities?
Yes, both Rokid and Xreal glasses could be used as normal outdoor prescription glasses with adaptations for prescription lenses, alongside their phone and music capabilities.
@caydengineer cool, i was reluctant to buy these as all review indicated it was only design for multimedia which is true, I however needed for business (hands free phone/call/music and viewing camera from a second business using screen mirroring.
Where would I go where I live (Greensboro NC) to get a pair of smart glasses? How would I go about getting them with my prescription? I wear bifocals
You buy them online.
Varies greatly from company to company, with many companies offering no prescriptions at all and some having a wide range of options.
@@caydengineer it might be something to mention in the next round-up. Or to do one based on which ones are most flexible
Thanks!
I think most need prescription inserts. Maybe consider a Pico 4 or similar HMD if you want to be able to use your own glasses
whats the best glasses for all? (or the most)
Completely depends on what you want to do. I use the Vuzic Z100 daily.
Do these allow for prescription glasses? In the future you might give price points. Also perhaps you could make a video that shows how you make them work and what settings they would work best in. You mentioned the sport glasses.
Many of them do! You can order prescription lenses alongside the glasses.
@@caydengineer great, thanks a lot

Hi, my boss is looking for AR/telepresence glasses. Just so an engineer can give tips on how to fix a malfunction remotely. Do you know of a nice, current day product? Hololens seems outdated by this point right? Thanks!
Vuzix enterprise solutions is probably the best for this ("M" series), because it comes with TeamViewer and other supported remote mentoring software.
Hello Sir, I was wondering now that we have all seen GPT-4o which glasses best work smoothly specifically with GPT-4o? Thank you for providing valuable information.
Vuzix Z100 running Convoscope by TeamOpenSmartGlasses is the all-day wearable best smart glasses AI experience I know of.
Any chance to find smart glasses for person with low visibility
Why aren’t there night vision and adjustable vision instead of prescription lenses?
Because prescription is requirement for many people, and these other things are a bonus which are very difficult to achieve.
What adjustable vision are you referring to? Night vision and zoom definitely would be awesome.
@@caydengineer instead of prescription which is constantly changing why not be able to adjust the image size to fit your vision. Like reading labels in the grocery store and night vision for driving
All these glasses are interesting, but I cannot find a pair of glasses that will have my prescription and provide a hearing aid with audio conduction. I saw some in the UK but they are not sold in the USA.
Not sure your options. Essilor Luxxotica announced a pair, should be out this year I think.
I’ve read about those, but no retailers seem to know much about them.

Is there a technology available to aid people with low vision?
Some audio glasses with apps that describe the world to you exist, like Seleste, Benvision, others.
Any recommendation for smartglasses to livestream to youtube/twitch etc. in horizontal mode ? or some for vertical livestreams (mobile format) ?
Thank you!
I just use this simple solution: www.amazon.com/LXIANGN-Illuminated-Jeweler-Magnifier-Detachable/dp/B08QCX8PZR
You could try to make an app like this for INMO or Vuzix Blade/Shield, but the experience will probably be grainy (smart glasses camera zoom is often awful).

I'm really interested in an open source solution that can show texts and small information like a smart watch.
My other use case would be screen glasses that can be plugged into any device through usb c or hdmi.
Cool, what info do you want to see?

im trying to figure out which are best to use chat gpt by my voice and then have the reply be option of text on glasses or voice. But actually only text on glasses matters to me
Any review of smart glasses for low vision assistance?
Not sure but checkout Envision, Benvision, and related companies.
Great vid, i have question, is it possible to view pdf files on the vuzix z100 or any other glasses?
Great video. The main two use cases I have for smart glasses are:
1. Watching videos while I cook and do chores. Ideally something like android TV so I can cast to it easily.
2. Virtual monitors so I can work anywhere.
I'm not sure there's anything that does both those things at the right price yet. Hopefully this year though🤞
For those requirements, get a used Xreal/Nreal Air 1 for ~$200-250 on Facebook marketplace or ebay.

I'm looking for something like that too.
Like recognize a product in the shelves and bring information about inventory , for example
Requirement for such glasses would include... camera to be able to recognize bar codes, qr codes (perhaps rfId ??), software SDK for development of custom applications able to connect to database servers, and speaker/mic able to receive voice information and give voice orders. Be not so heavy so people can use along the work.
Based on that, what you would recommend (1) to start with based on cost/benefit (2) as ideal glass ?
Again, congratulations for the video and the channel... this new frontier of wearable devices brings amazing possibilities !
Probably look at some of the Android based smart glasses with display and camera like Inmo Air 2, Vuzix Blade 2, Vuzix Shield, TCL RayNeo X2, etc.
@@caydengineer thx! Keep up the great work with your brilhant content!
I want to find ar glasses that:
- video is hidden to others
- matches my prescription so I can use them to see
- can connect to my phone via Bluetooth
- can be charged while in use
A lot of these can do those things. Vuzix Z100 or pretty sweet!
Like something fashionable maybe.)
If they can be charged, I was thinking more of a battery block in my pocket with a cord snaked through my shirt connecting the two while I also charge my phone seperately,, NOT having it connecting to my phone directly. (Maybe something that has a large battery life. I'm not opposed to bulkier glasses either, as long as they're comfortable and won't slip off my face lol)
Ooo maybe even a multi feature where I can have a little note or checklist while I work so I can have a reminder of tasks or things I must remember constantly and can check off with my phone!
(These are all things that can be found today btw, I can give you more details on the technology of you're interested)
Now you have a secret computer that you can secretely game or talk to your freinds with anywhere.
Please steal tf out of this idea and share it with other tech guys in diacord servers, tech events or anywhere else you can if you think its neat. Id love to see it as a thing. ♥
Thank you so much for having the patience to respond to me btw it means a whole lot man. Hope you have an awesome day!
Can you recommend any glass that does the following
-voice phone music functionalities like the bose frame that I am currently using
-plus hud display at least 480 by 480 full colour display to mirror my phone so I can literally leave my phone in the pocket.
I'm going to ask your advice and there might not be a proper answer but I want to monocular non glasses frame heads up display for web browsing and video viewing that's more like a scouter from Dragon Ball Z or something you would see from a cyberpunk type story, does that exist
A single-sided HUD with audio and video
Most of the glasses reasonable for all day wear are integrated into the glasses frame to minimize weight and increase symmetricity.
What might fit your needs is the Vufine connected to HDMI on your phone with a pair of headphones (like OpenRun Aftershoks) for audio.
I have an idea for google glasses. Unfortunately, i'm not an electronic guy so it could be stucked in my head.
What a great breakdown video! Definitely learned a lot more. The Z100 is on my wish list for sure, would be nice to have binocular displays like the Shield. I'm glad smart glasses tech is really taking off! I guess we'll see in the near future where it goes!
Thanks! Meizu Myvu, Oppo Air Glass 2, and Inmo Go I'm excited for in that category.
Rokid AR Lite? (Max 2 +Station2) Not in the list? Consider diopter feature Rokid is good option too
I was curious about one of the glasses you mentioned.
The sound is really noteworthy as well... super clear, responsive, high quality, and rarely audible to anyone but me.
Thanks for the feedback - the RayBan Stories are indeed a good pair of glasses - but they'll need to open up to third party devs to create an ecosystem.
Thanks for the video but can you give the source to when Meta will release the next version of Meta Rayban in 2025 ? I’m wqnt to buy the Rayban Meta but don’t know whether to wait for the next version now
Whats your views/impressions about INMO AIR2 and INMO Go?
Checkout Lenovo A3, XREAL, Rokid, Inmo for this.
What about the G1 Glasses?
They weren't released at the time.
MicroLED display technology is future. Hope to see better quantum dot enchanced camera's for night vision
I think so, microLED + waveguides seems to be winning for now and near future at least.
My problem with smart glasses is that they're all thick rimmed, and thick rimmed glasses looks horrible on me lol.

I also need a footpedal to switch back-and-forth between pages. I don’t need other fancy functions. Surely there is a market for this?

Any smart glasses for billiards that show angles??? Poker???
For poker, I'd use some of the HUD glasses that feature a camera, like Vuzix Shield. You'd have to have your own custom software developed.
For billiards - you'd want some MR glasses with a camera (not many of these unfortunately despite claiming to be AR/MR) which have a large FOV, like XREAL Air 2 Ultra, or probably would have to skip glasses and do it with Meta Quest Pro or similiar passthrough device.

I wanted to Buy the Ray Ban current meta ones, but may be its better to wait until next year because they would have augmented reality 😊😊
Thet'll always be better next year, you might always be waiting!
is there any smart glasses that could change RGB over 100% for real world? i want a more colorful world
That's very fair. Oppo and Inmo Go might not be stylish enough. The Meizu Myvu looks nicer imo.
What do you want to use smart glasses for?
Thanks for the response, I'll check those out.
Wrt to my uses/requirements...if the Meta Ray-ban Smart glasses had a HUD that could display basic info it would do everything that I need it to do now.
So my uses would to:
- Record pictures (but with landscape) & video (>1min) with FP POV.
All that said I would like their frames to be a bit thinner and I'd like to see them offer some smaller frames.
ok, let me pick your brain if I may: I'm looking for a "literal" *smart* glasses, that essentially run all smart watch apps, just in "field of view"
Me, a developer in 2024, looking for a smart glass that allows me to run custom mx apps haha
What are custom MX apps?
@@caydengineer I am not up to date with the correct currently used terms but I meant mixed reality :D
Specifically an overlay that shows e.g. the bounding boxes of a vision model output to highlight things in the view
Do better.
Tha is for the review. What did you want to do with your smart glasses?
Alright so i want the glasses that can do it all..... with camera and audio that i can wear all day...so....
so according to the transcript he said at least 42 times "smart glasses"
you're welcome!
Haha 43 next year
Maybe now is the time to relaunch Google Glass? 11 years have passed and the technology has developed.
I need glasses to remind the name of a person
It's a cool use case! Though people don't take kindly often to you running facial recognition on your POV camera stream 24/7... I used to do that haha.
I would be happy to see better. And be able to learn how to read . That would be better for me . ❤❤😊 I am 42 years old
In between stages of functional AR... almost pointless. The heavier ones that require another device are what people are going to use right now. And we all know it except the people trying to sell this soon to be completely obsolete garbage.
Don't agree. Simple data snacking
Hi
Hellooo!
audio, hud and camera. ar is cute but
Very much a nascent field. Will take time before we see real MR in lightweight, stylish glasses. For now the main use is in HUD style interaction.
Why do you downplay meta's glasses? To me they seem to be the best of all worlds in one...
They were not downplayed. They got #2 out of the 40+ glasses I reviewed. They're awesome. They don't have a display though, that's a big drawback, and they're also a little too heavy, 50 g won't fly, got to be below 40.
VUZI #1
Stock move!
what are some glasses to help me with my math ☠
GPT4 on desktop.
@@caydengineer I see you are using the esp 32 in your glasses design why not build an api interface into your ecosystem for chat gpt, and the open source models that are now compatible !
