I've been using Reaper for about four years now using it to record audio and create videos for my YT channel, so I'm fairly fluent. Yet I still watch all your videos regardless of how basic the subject matter may appear to be because I always learn something new. Reaper is so robust, so full of 'hidden' features and options that it is impossible to discover all the capabilities without having a mentor. You're my guy. Thanks for being there!
Literally EVERYTIME ma man Kenny uploads I look at the topic ("Ah, OK, it's the transport bar"), and then at the timeline ('15.35), and I'm like: "Whaaat?? 15 full minutes? Impossible! What's there to know about that topic that takes 15 minutes??" End of the video: "I am unworthy, I am unworthy!"
Right. I see a 20 minute video on TRACK COLORS AND ICONS. I'm like 20 minutes!?? I better watch this cuz I missed something. You're right EVERY GOT DANG TIME.... LOLZ
I'm continued to be blown away by just how feature rich REAPER is as a DAW, but also how informative your video's are Kenny - great work. There are lots of us wondering if this is the right move for us. Imbedded in Ableton, Studio One etc and getting fed up with the constant update [fees] cycle. Thanks for all you do for the community and your channel :)
Thank you so much for another great tutorial! I learn so much with your tutorials. I was just looking how to auto punch in and out and here it is. Thanks again for showing us how to use the transport bar more efficiently.
I found the controls to put the transport below the mixer, at the bottom of the screen. Better for using with the midi editor screen at larger settings. Also prefer Default 4 Theme, and use 'export configurations', so if I work on another machine, I can import that configuration file to keep those settings.
This is good. I found the option by right-clicking the Transport > Docked transport position. I like "Top of main window". The option "Above ruler" seems to do the same thing? Or maybe it works differently if using more than one monitor?
@@TheMack I Believe the main difference is that, when you add a custom toolbar at the top of the window (above the time ruler), the transport is displayed under this toolbar when "above ruler" and above this toolbar when "top of main window".
Preserve pitch is also a great function that might fit the premise of this video. Kinda, sorta, not really Thank you Kenny for all you do. You have taught me & many others well😅
For those who didn't find it by themselves ;) it's in the right-click menu Kenny shows at the end (right-clicking the rate control). I always, always have that enabled, drives me crazy when I want to listen to something slow and it's half an octave off pitch.
Kenny, would you answer a question for me. I hit some keys by accident and my mixer disappeared, but not like when you choose to hide it. I can bring it back, but it's not right. It sits on top of the main screen rather than within it, if that makes sense. Do you know how to get it back to normal? Updating software does nothing. Thanks in advance.
Thx for the tutorial. Is there anywhere to change the transport layout to be the same layout as previous versions where the stop button is left of play? I don't understand why this was changed and it is hard to get used to for me.
Is there a way to hide the "selection" information from transport panel? Thats an info I never needed and never will. I have checked all settings and action modifiers. Nothing helped.
Noob - at about 11:19 there is a section on "Automation Mode" - not much info on the purpose of automation mode and what the options (latch, trim, etch) on the pop up tab for each track are about. I am guessing this is something that you can use to just play and record on a single individual track? I am sure this info is important and "I wanna know"! lol
Hello I have a question I saved my reaper sessions in the project tab but restated my computer when I try upload the saved session it uploads a rendered session of the mix down
You are the primary reason I started using Reaper years ago. I still enjoy your videos. They are art. No one does tutorial videos as well as you do.
Thank you

Thanks for being on the other side of "there".
Important to review the fundamentals. Thanks Kenny.
I love that you'll do a tutorial on something as basic as the transport, and I watch it, and I learn six new things.

Thanks 1000 Kenny....and thanks also to the team of guys who develop this daw with passion and intelligence.🎼👍🏽🎹
Cheers......there is never a time when I don't learn something. Sooo useful.💪✊
Very useful and practical, I learned something and I have been using Reaper since it first came out. Thank you
Thanks, Kenny! No matter how basic the subject I always learn something. This was a great one!

Great video!!!there are so may features I do not know, more like this please.
Nice one Kenny! The transport can be placed at the top, bottom and free floating.

@@kurtjanssen3887 Ah, I see, I don't have a custom toolbar, so that makes sense. Thanks!
Perfect Timing 👍
New to this channel and Reaper. This kicks ass - thanks!
Always great advice! Thanks Kenny!!
As always writing a comment to support the channel
Thanks Kenny 🎶🎹😃🔥

Vital information 👍🏅
How did you simply create the items at 7:17 ?? When I try to do that, all it does is do a time selection.
Lots of good tips there. But how do i change the size of it? I have done something that made it smaller.
Go to Options - Layouts - Transport to adjust the size.
@@REAPERMania Thank you!
Hello Kenny, I was wondering if you could do a video for making custom markers named as INTRO, CHORUS, VERSE, BRIDGE e.t.c..
Just right click on marker to edit and add a name 👍🏼
@@banterbanter thanks

i'm curious what the benefit is, the reclaimed space cannot be used for anything else
@@ARE_YOU_SICK_OF_YT_CENSORSHIP I didn't show it but I like to hide the play rate so I don't accidentally hit it.
Where is the "Hi i'm Kenny Gioia, welcome to another one of my tutorials"? you missed that part!! 😄
That went away a few years ago.
Is there a way to make the Transport floating?

Hi Kenny,
When will there be a chords channel like in Cubase?
Hello I have a question I saved my reaper sessions in the project tab but restated my computer when I try upload the saved session it uploads a rendered session of the mix down
How to setup a punch-in punch-out inside a selection area? Regards.
