    I noticed that sausages right back foot was up she's favoring it for some reason. I agree with you buddy spending time in the kitchen as a family brings you closer together. I am one of the 11 children when I was a boy at home eating around the table was a special time with my Mom and Dad and brothers and sisters. My dad was a preacher and Mom and him always prayed when we ate sometimes their prayers were lengthy and the food got cold. LOL. Wonderful memories to look back on.

    Al, you might check the salvage yards and see if you can find a set of rims to fit Gina's Subaru. That way you can mount your tires on the rims, and you don't run the risk of damaging the bead by changing them on and off the rims on the car twice a year.
    You had a lot of good suggestions on fixing your cornbread, but my two are; use a 9 x 13 cake pan, or heat a cast iron skillet in the oven with some bacon grease and pour the batter into the hot skillet and grease. It will give you a crispy crust. I also like to add either real bacon bits and/or shredded sharp cheddar to the batter before baking. If you have some cracklins from rendering the lard from you hogs, or the rind off of the bacon or ham, chop some of that up and add it to the batter.

    Pack some wood stumps around the small trees ,then you will be able to see them better. And I will make more shelters out for the animals too hide under when snow or rain comes and against the sun. Love your video's. Blessings.

    I would invest in a set of rims to go with those tires. That way you don’t have to go to the tire shop every winter and spring.

    • @karengradzki3808
      @karengradzki3808 6 років тому +2

      Yes. That would certainly make it simpler for Al. We have 2 full sets of rims & tires for our truck. It makes switching so much easier.

    • @idadho
      @idadho 6 років тому +2

      We have winter rims, too. So much easier. Many use lower profile tires and rims (45 to 60 series) for summer and 65 or 70 series tires and rims for winter. Low profile rims can get beat in winter.

    You remind me of my Italian grandparents. My grandfather was a butcher and he and my grandmother ran a meat-packing business. But, in spite of them both working, they grew all their own vegetables, they had a variety of fruit trees, and their basement walls were lined with shelves of all the food they canned. My grandfather built those shelves, along with decks, home additions, cabanas, etc. My grandmother cooked almost everything from scratch. They had quite the partnership. We visited them every other weekend, after church (we visited my other grandparents on the alternate weekends, and they lived very similarly).

    NO SUGAR IN THE CORNBREAD!!!!! Just kidding, but down here in the south that what we'd call corn cake. :) :) I'm sure you've heard this a thousand times but. We cook our cornbread in my grandma's old cast iron skillet (probably over 80 years old by now and slick as glass) with some bacon grease preheated to 400. When you pour the cornbread batter in. as you pour it in it fry's the bottom crust into a wonderful brown crispy crust. We also like to add roasted green hatch chills,shredded aged cheddar cheese and every now and then a minced jalapeno to the mix. Of course this isn't south cornbread with three ingredients added to it but boy oh boy is it good. To each his own, rock on brother and keep the great videos coming.

    A little tip that helped me a lot during winter driving. I cut a piece of clear landscape/construction plastic, enough to completely cover the windshield. I covered it with the wipers over it to hold the bottom down. I close the ends in the doors as tight as possible. When I pulled it off the snow came off with it. And I just had to clear off any snow that was around the edges. Worked good for ice too. I folded it and kept it in the trunk The extra 5 or 10 min of putting the plastic on saved me a lot of cold scraping and brushing. I have a garage now but I still have the plastic handy for when I will be out all day. Hope this hint helps Gina

    Down here in TX when we get freezing temps we wrap our trees with some kind of insulation to keep them from totally freezing. The Home Depot or Lowes sells stuff but I'm sure you already know about that. I know when I lived in MT the ground froze a lot of the way down and I don't remember anyone wrapping any trees but then I never saw any that were that young.

    Another way to remember where the trees are while they are so small is to buy some of those 4ft tall orange reflective parking rods that you line your driveway with to see where to park or drive at night. They are about $2 each and worth the investment. You can reuse them for any similar type need after the trees grow large enough to remove them.

    When I read the heading I instantly thought about possible theft which got me worried for you guys. Then saw them under the coop and breathed a sigh of relief. But this got me thinking about security. Most people think about security after they have an incident. While we hate to think that there is anyone out there sneaky enough to do such a thing it might be good to think in terms of at least minimal security to see who or what comes on your property. This cheapest and easiest way to do that is to set up a trail camera. Strap it to a tree with a view of the property (capable of catching a car or truck entering your property) and forget it. Battery lasts for months and takes HD videos when it detects movement. Only have to check once a month unless you see something strange and then just review the video. Also, good to just see what wild animals visit your property.
