An example of that horrible first weekend of the avoidance of the various regional pre-programme idents. LWT didn't do it too badly here, but a ~4 second gap like this wouldn't have happened just one week earlier. Ulster tended to either blunder into a lot of programmes, or their turning logo rotating incessantly when there were idents when they weren't expecting them, and UTV could also be relied-upon to sometimes just seem to forget about the new rushed policy and we'd see the relevant pre-programme ident the way it was before 1 Jan 1988. I know Granada and Yorkshire continued to 'offer' their logos at the start of their programmes, but they too phased them out after a few months.
I remember during the following week the Thames logo had to stay on screen for the first few seconds into the music of Coronation Street as the silent Granada logo would have otherwise been showing! Looked like it was a Thames production!!
