A bril informative, plain descriptive video, especially explaining the Pard scope, hope my lottery comes up tonight (ha ha) the FX 30 certainly hits hard ! Stay safe - go steady
Thanks Paul. I use a Pulsar Helion XM38. I think its no longer in production, but its one hell of a piece of kit and I wouldn't be without it day or night. Thanks watching.
First of all thanks for the review, God when I saw those pellets I thought good weights for sea fishing those rabbits weren't getting up after being hit by one of those, the scope is a belter I use the 007 love it for rats might treat myself to a thermal imager to help me out this winter. So again thanks for your time and effort
Thanks Michael. Yes, they certainly pack a wallop! Thermal imagers are great, pricey but great. Mine is a Pulsar Helion and I don't know how I managed before without it! Thanks for watching and support the channel.
@@airgunextra Thank you Richard. Is the thread on the Impact Shroud standard 1/2” UNF? Did you choose the DonnyFL Ronin as the fx standard mod that comes with the Sniper Edition inadequate for moderating the report? Ta
@@airriflevermincontroluk5027 Hi. My rifle is an older mk 2 and has an M20x1 thread but I believe the current model has 1/2 inch UNF. The mod that comes with the rifle is just a tube and whilst it does have some effect, its not as quiet as the Donny FL Ronin which I have to say is excellent. If you're thinking of investing in one,. the guys at Sportsman Gun Centre will be able to advise if there is a more suitable mod.
Brilliant talk through of the impact and pard 👏👍 Great info for potential buyers 😉. That .30 pellet sure sends a msg to those rabbits 🤣🙈. I love my fac impact .22 shooting 25 grain slugs with a 4K pro with abl 😉👍
Thanks very much Peter. That's all we want to do - help folks make more informed purchases. I'm just waiting to take delivery of a .22 FAC Impact which I am planning to set up purely to use with slugs.
Hi great review I’m thinking of getting one in 12ft lbs, just wondered on your thoughts as to the accuracy i have watched several reviews in both standard and compact but the groups on all have not been great with often one or two flyers within each group, and the reviewers like yourself are very capable of very good groups on other rifles I’m not sure if this is due to the smooth twist at non Facebook levels You also mentioned there is adjustability but I was under the impression at non Fac that all adjustment apart from the power wheel was deactivated Would really appreciate your views as you mentioned not a small investment
Hello Mr. T. Thanks very much for the comment/question. I'm really grateful you took the time to ask it as you're right and I didn't do a good job of explaining in the video that sub-12 ft. lbs. rifles don't have the range of adjustment that FAC rifle do. The power wheel does enable you do adjust the output to find the best velocity for different pellets but I think its safe to assume most people will want to crank it up to max. In all honesty, the Impact performs best at higher power levels because it is designed to be able to achieve very high outputs; mine has been tuned to put out 90 ft. lbs. and it does that comfortably. I'll be honest and say that I have not spent a lot of time shooting one at 12 ft. lbs. but I have seen friends and people at my club shooting them in both .22 and .177 and they have not said they have an issue with accuracy - certainly no more than other rifles. Flyers can be down to a gun or magazine, or it could just as easily be a flaw in the pellet or, dare I say it, the soft thing on the handle end! The huge capacity magazine makes it very easy to say that one shot out of 38 in .177 or 28 in .22 makes the odd stray pellet stand out more. The Impact is very consistent in terms of velocity, my hunch is that any accuracy issues could be down to the magazine rather than the rifle, duff pellets notwithstanding. You can get single shot loaders - Rowan Engineering and Huma Air make them - and no doubt others as well. And there are a few companies that offer alternatives to the Sideshot magazine - Eagle Vision for example, though that's an additional cost and I have never used one so can't say how good they are. I'm not sure how much use that is. Good luck!
Hi Richard thanks for the reply very informative, would love to see a full side by side review of a compact and standard fx mk2 in 12ft lb to see how they group would be very interesting, keep up the good work look forward to the next one. @@airgunextra
Hi MR.T, I'm of the same opinion and in a similar position as yourself, I'm considering an Impact in .22 Fac, and I've noticed the grouping on nearly all the youtube videos are no better and sometimes a lot worse than what I can achieve with my 10-year-old BSA Ultra! The only people posting decent groups are the handful of guys that are part of the FX marketing machine! Did you get your Impact and are you happy with it?
@@robertmitchell9415 hello Robert yes I did get one, it was the same as when I got my daystate revere I never went in to buy a revere but the second I picked it up it just felt right and the impact was the same, I am very pleased with it and straight out of the box it’s been pretty much pellet on pellet I wasn’t expecting that but it was and can’t complain, with that said if you want to get the best out of it you need to be prepared to spend on some after market upgrades get them fitted then it’s a case of tuning it and finding the ammo that suits your task there’s a guy called Teds holdover he’s a reviewer of impacts and pretty much gives you it as it is, but he has a 30cal which is his competition gun he won the extreme bench rest with it and its pellet on pellet at 100yards it’s pretty impressive, give his Chanel a look lots of barrel and pellet combination testing, but as mentioned it’s all about being bothered to take the time to tune it, now with all that said also be prepared to replace o-rings they can and will fail my magazines I bought a couple of extra ones they didn’t cycle so had to take them apart and adjust the spring tension fiddly job shouldn’t of needed to, but I’ve fell in love with the gun so I’m accepting it’s demons and when right it’s amazing, I’ve run on a bit I hope that helps all the best MR.T
Hi. Yes, for quarry you can shoot legally in the UK it probably is. When it comes to trajectory, there's a balance between calibre/pellet weight/power and stability. In all honesty, I shoot as many rabbits with my 30 ft lbs .22 as I do with my 95 ft lbs .30, and not much more than I do when I'm using 12 ft lbs .177!
Hi Mr. Richard, great job, although I like more of a classic style I recognize that this set is fantastic, I like to hunt, so I can't imagine a better set, your videos are excellent, congratulations.health.PT
Hi. Thanks for watching. The rifle is FAC-rated and .30 calibre. Standard is around 75-77 ft/lbs. but this one has been tuned to give 95 ft/lbs. All that means that with a 30 metre zero, the trajectory is flat from 20 to around 55 metres with 44.75g pellets. All the rabbits shot were in that range, so no holdover necessary. For what its worth, when it comes to 12 ft/lbs rifles, I tend to use a .177 most of the time due to the flatter trajectory compared to a .22. As a result, my self-imposed maximum range with a .177 is 40 metres (about and inch of hold over with a 30m zero), and 30 metres with a .22. In fact, we are just finishing a video that compares the trajectory and impact points for 12 ft/lbs .177 and .22. I hope that helps. To answer your question about the scope compensating automatically for different distances: I'm afraid not. Although the PARD NV008 LRF has a range finder, it only tells you the range and the rest is up to you. The ATN X-Sight 4K Pro on the other hand, when used in conjunction with the ATN ABL laser range finder and the scope's ballistic calculator function, will adjust your aim point for you. You will need to enter some information about your set up into the scope - pellet weight and ballistic coefficient, fps, height of the scope from the barrel etc. - and then when you range find a target the scope will adjust the crosshairs for you - no more hold over and under!
Hi Robin. The NV008 comes with a rechargeable battery. It takes an 18650 - the type with a flat terminal on both ends, like those use on e-cigarettes I believe.
Thanks for the very informative review. I have just found your channel and am enjoying it, I just love all my rat exterminator posts, I guess I am a rat killer junky. Looking forward to the next post from you. Cheers.
Looking at the night scenes, they are not as clear as they should be. I think your infrared lens is not pulled out enough to give you a clear picture. It adjusts in and out to make sure the picture is nice and clear for night time shots.
Thanks for watching Mathew. Some of the definition may have suffered in the filming and posting process. The picture is plenty clear in the field - good enough for me take rabbits out to 70+ metres anyway!
