Crutchfield told me the avh4200 wouldn't fit my 08 denali as well. I cut out some of the plastic behind the radio and had to tuck wires real tight. My child or gets stuck so I have to adjust when replacing dvds.i am going to get my dremel and cut backs some of the dash kit back for easy flipping.
Hey man, how much do you charge to do a full install (with parts included) to do this. Thinking of buying a suburban and would need to do this exact setup.
I have a 07 Yukon Denali XL with the navigation screen and backup camera which axxess wire interface do I need for Yukon I'm going with the pioneer dmh-130bt
Doing similar install on 2007 avalanche with onstar, non-bose. Have everything working BUT backup camera. I watched the unboxing of your ESKY and the only difference I see is my camera has a power cable built in which hangs off each end (adjacent to the video plug on each end) in addition to the included power cable to the camera (which is a little confusing). I attempted to ground the camera to the reverse light but instead of powering it from there I tried powering it from the head unit. Kind of hard to effectively explain but used the extra red wire in the harness at the back of the radio and hooked the red wire on the other end of the video cable to the red wire from the camera. Think I connected the purple/white wire from the pioneer to the green/purple from the Harness. Camera is plugged into the RC in on the back of the headunit. Also using bypass but can't quite track down where my issue is. Unit: Pioneer AVH-X2800BS Harness: Metra Axxess GMOS-LAN-01 LAN OnStar Interface for Non-Amplified Systems
So the adjacent wire that runs along your RCA cable is for simplicity if you didn't have the reverse gear wire in the harness. It would allow you to connect to the purple / white wire and run back to the camera. The camera would still plug into power from the reverse gear light. That adjacent wire would also plug into the positive of the reverse gear light so when the car is in reverse, the camera cycles over. Just be sure that the power/ground wire for the camera is connected to the power / ground of the reverse gear wire like in the video. IF your radio purple / white wire is connected to the reverse wire in the harness, just disregard the adjacent wire that goes along with the RCA.
Hello, I have the exact same pioneer radio and I’m installing the after market camera. I also have the same gm module however I don’t know which is the reverse cable coming from the module. Can you please help me
Provo Beast, I have everything installed, but my Pioneer unit doesn't pull up the reverse camera when in reverse. I could only view the reverse camera when I go to my source> camera view. And I could only see the camera whenever it's in reverse on that source. Do you have any suggestions as to what I might have done wrong?
The radio reverse gear trigger wire isn't hooked up properly. It is the purple / white wire that triggers the wire to go in reverse. While in reverse, if that wire isn't seeing a 12v power source, that is the issue.
Great Video! Question my 2013 Suburban has rear park assist which gives a warning beep when you approach an object while in reverse. I'd like to maintain that feature while also adding a back up camera. Is that possible?
Yep, though depends on the radio type and the camera type. Some camera's already have the line guides built into the camera and automatically show up. Most radio's also have that functionality built it, but just needs to be turned on. If you find that while in reverse, there are no lines present, just explore your settings on your radio and enable those lines. Hopefully that helps.
I just purchased a RV class c and it has a built in Pioneer backup, loaded camera with side view , phone radio, b.t. and everything else . My question is the only way to turn this off is with a killer switch that turns everything off in the RV. Why isn't there a on/off button . I don't want my battery to go dead so I always have to use this factory installed killer switch. thank you for any info. AVH-P3400BH or AVH-P2400BT
All depends on how your RV is wired and the purpose it will be used for. Your radio needs to be connected to a constant source (12v+ power constant) to keep your setting which is the yellow wire on the pioneer, but the red wire is the ignition wire and will only turn the radio on if this source gets power. You will want to determine where that red wire goes, either to the ignition or a manual switch (to allow you to use it while parked.) All depends on how you want to use your radio.
It may work only if your existing factory DVD unit is back up camera compatible. If not, unless you are good at small electronics wiring, it won't work. Best recommendation would be to add a mirror screen and camera kit if you don't want to replace the radio. Not sure about the folding mirrors, this was a customer vehicle so i only had it for a few hours.
Did you hook the purple reverse wire on the back of the head unit to anything? I did the install on a 2007 Tahoe with kenwood double din and my park assist is not working. The interface I used was different but it's supposed to retain the park assist feature. Everything else is working good
The purple reverse wire is needed for it tells the radio to switch to reverse mode when the car is reversing. Hence the wire is connected to the reverse wire in the wiring harness adapter used in the install video part 1 where we installed the radio.
Provo Beast Audio Installation I have this exact set up but I’m confused to what you hooked the purple wire too, you say the reverse wire but which one is that
I originally installed my pioneer with this: Axxess AX-GMLAN29 LAN 29 and did not install a backup camera. Does it provide a reverse signal for a backup camera? If not, where is the best place to get that signal wire from?
Did you cut your video cable to extend it? deck goes into reverse mode however no image is poppin up. Should I get a new video cable since I cut it to extend it? Does the camera have a fuse?
I did not cut to extend it, if your RCA cable is too short, use an RCA coupler and another RCA cable to extend to the length you need in order to reach between the radio and camera. Cutting the cable most likely will have negative results. The camera doesn't usually have a fuse, but you can add one if needed. If there ever was a short, the reverse light fuse would blow first. In the end, i would purchase a new cable if you cut to extend. A 25' cable should be long enough.
Dear Beast, I will be installing a Pioneer 4200NEX in my 2013 Tahoe. It already has a backup camera in the mirror, but I don't think it's connected to the stereo. How do I tap in to the current camera to redirect to the stereo? ;)
I'm pretty sure it's factory but it's a Rosen system. The stereo has backup ability but there's no signal, only in the mirror. I can send you pics. Don't think I can drop em here.
You would just have to find the lead video wire and tap into that with an RCA cable for signal. If you want to send over pictures, just do so by going to my Provo beast facebook page and sending it via messenger. Thanks!
Were there any issues with the fold out-face clearance? Crutchfield says the 4200 won't fit due to this, but the 5700 and 4200 look to have the same mechanism. Great videos, by the way.
Nope, sorry. And for installing, not cutting or modifying the kit. It all is adjusted with how you screw the kit to the radio. You can make plenty of adjustments there.
Parts used linked in the description!
Thanks for the video my light guy wants to charge me 200$ to do the install. Imma do that myself! Thanks for the help
I always wondered what career path you took after filming the Blair Witch Project.
Brent Reddick 😂
I just took my 07 tahoe to install a sound system and back up camera but after the installation my Park assist in not working
Can you put links to everything you used? I have an 07 tahoe that I'm thinking of doing the same thing to.

Yea it was a blown fuse to reverse lights thanks very much. I did cut the wires to extend the video
Will this stereo work with 07 Tahoe LTZ factory backup camera and inside dvd monitor? Thanks
King B yee yee I think it should might need to make some wiring mods but u could get it to work
Hey man, how much do you charge to do a full install (with parts included) to do this. Thinking of buying a suburban and would need to do this exact setup.
I had mine installed today now my park assist sensor is off how do I turn it on
Will the axxess ax-gmlan29-swc work for me 07 Yukon Denali Xl with the backup camera and navigation
I have a 07 Yukon Denali XL with the navigation screen and backup camera which axxess wire interface do I need for Yukon I'm going with the pioneer dmh-130bt
I'm using the same Wiring kit and my 08 yukon has factory back up camera, but when I plug in the Brown Connector, It doesn't work!!! Y is that...
Lolo Quijada did you ever get this problem figured out? I cannot seem to get the factory camera working
How did you get the video wire thu the small hole ?
Doing similar install on 2007 avalanche with onstar, non-bose. Have everything working BUT backup camera. Provo Beast Audio Installation I can get the picture but not when in / out off gear . I need to run a wire from that purple to the camera power?
Are shrink wrap butt connectors that expensive?
What you do for the factory reverse camera
Where did u get all your addapters for radio install and camera
Amazon!
you seem to know all about this vehicle how do you change the motor inside the mirror to make it fold again I have a 2007 Yukon Denali
I just do audio, sorry man. This also was a customer vehicle, so I only had it for a few short hours.
Hey man quick question the rca video extension is it just the video or is it the one with video and audio output
overhead screen not working for me...screen is on but not showing movie just black screen
Good vid. How much are those pioneer indash?
What model Pioneer radio is this? Will it play Sirius XM? I have a 2007 Yukon
All parts listed in description.
How much does it cost to install
How do I keep my rear DVD player? And how do I keep my xm radio?

I have 3 black wires connected to the reverse light which one is the ground?
I want to install a after market radio but keep factory flip down screen and factory reverse cam in a 2008 Tahoe what do i need
watch the first video, has all you would need to make that happen. LInk in description
Why not tap into the trailer harness? I'm pretty sure all GM trucks have one from the factory.
So if it's coming out the same truck it will work
Nice work there man
Is that a speaker wire you’re using?

Yes i had the same thing done just different sounds now i know a little late haha
Thank you for the video!

Yep, it should.
All I needed to see is how did you wire your reverse wire but does not show in this video you were to for
Reverse trigger wire is generated by the smart harness used in the video. The Metra Axxess harness generates the trigger based on the canbus system.
Did you cut your video cable to extend it? deck goes into reverse mode however no image is poppin up. Should I get a new video cable since I cut it to extend it? Does the camera have a fuse?

Can a factory Denali TV go into another one same year
possibly, as long as you pull the wiring for it too and have a compatible radio to support audio.
Are you located in California
What cable and where did u get the cable for the rear dvd screen??
FYI I live near Provo
See the description for the list of parts used in this install. Most parts can be purchased on Sonic Electronix website or Amazon.
Where is the description for parts.?

Is it possible to add it to a constant power source ? I’ve heard it won’t trigger the camera to switch automatically when in reverse.
what kind of stero thid you buy and how many pin?
The description has the info needed.
there is power in the hatch back
Is there a wire in the hatch back that is only live when transmission is in "R" Reverse?
where did you physically mount the camera? thanks for the vid
To the license plate screws.
Thank you this helped a lot
How do I bypass the parking brake with this harness
Purchase a microbypass, or put the parking brake wire on a manual toggle switch, then to a ground.
How much can you do a double din install with back up camera for
Depends on the equipment you choose, but generally on this truck type, you can spend as little as 300 bucks for everything, entry level stuff.
very nice
Clean!!!

It takes some time for adjustment, but we were successful in opening and closing the screen fine with this kit. It is tight, but do-able.
Thanks for replying. What kind of adjustments are available? Adjusting the dash kit or the unit itself?
The mounts on the dash kit to the radio.
Like adding spacers, or actually cutting/modifying the dash kit? I don't suppose you have an instructional video or pictures for that, do you?
Nope, sorry. And for installing, not cutting or modifying the kit. It all is adjusted with how you screw the kit to the radio. You can make plenty of adjustments there.
How do I move my back up camera from rear view mirror to my in cash system?
Our friends over at Five Star had a quick tutorial on how to do so: ua-cam.com/video/9XWUxCGIpXQ/v-deo.html
